A big hit - Review written on August 11, 2008

My daughter is 2 and loves this toy. Better yet, she has loved this toy since she got it 10 months ago. It also gets played with every time my 3.5 year nephew is over.
Birthday gift - Review written on July 04, 2008
Rating: 5 out of 5
This product was purchased for a Sept. birthday gift for my granddaughter.
I was very happy with the quality of the product. Well made with wonderful detail and construction. My cousin saw the toy and immediately ordered the set for her granddaughter. Her "Alexandra" loved the cake and pizza set. I would highly recommend this product for any age appropriate child.
Love Melissa and Doug - Review written on July 03, 2008
Rating: 5 out of 5
Melissa and Doug make such great wooden products and this is no exception. My son thouroughly enjoys slicing the pizza and delivering to me and Daddy. He's 2 so we've put the toppings away until he gets older. He enjoys the cutting process so much that I'm looking into the M&D cutting food box.
Great buy! - Review written on May 31, 2008
Rating: 5 out of 5
I bought the pezza toy for my son who just turned 4, he loves to pretend to cook. He absolutely loves this toy. He makes us pizza whenever he can. Another added bonus is he gets to count the items he places on top of the pizza. I highly recommend this product.
good stuff - Review written on April 24, 2008
Rating: 5 out of 5
I bought this along with some plastic food for my daughters kitchen, this is way better than the plastic food. All the toppings get a little annoying as they often get scattered around the floor and there are so many of them but it is very well made and the girls love playing with it.
Durable - Review written on March 13, 2008
Rating: 4 out of 5
My 3 year old got this for Christmas and he still plays with it. The toy is durable but watch out for the toppings, they can pose as chocking hazards to smaller children who put toys in their mouths. Also, as with any painted, wooden toy, after several hand washings, the paint is chipping off. Great toy for imaginative play.
The little Cooker - Review written on February 12, 2008
Rating: 5 out of 5
My three yr old grand-daughter loves this. This wood is a nice thickness, sturdy, and brightly painted. Chunky pieces are great for her little hands and the storage box keeps it together nicely when she is done playing. The pizza is about 7" diameter, toppings a bit over an inch and the utensils are life size. Just Perfect.
Keeps him busy! - Review written on January 07, 2008
Rating: 4 out of 5
My son loves pretend kitchen play so this was a perfect addition to his set of kitchen toys. At first he was into the decorating and slicing (and serving) of the pie, which was very exciting for him. But now he has gotten creative with all the toppings - because there are so many he can scoop them up and fill his pretend pot and make soup or oatmeal, etc. Even though there are lots of pieces they are easy to clean up since they aren't too small or messy.
However the first pizza I got got a cracked and split the second day we had it, but I contacted Amazon and they sent a replacement right away and it's been fine. So just keep your receipt, maybe mine was just a bad piece of wood.
Also I feel safe knowing that since my 2 year old (and his baby brother) still puts things in his mouth, Melissa & Doug is a safe company in terms of their wooden toys and non-toxic paints.
I wish the box was more of a covered box, when you get it, it's wrapped in plastic. We slide it underneath other things but of course if it tips the stuff falls out. that's my only complaint but it's pretty minor considering.
Great product, but needs a lid - Review written on January 07, 2008

I have always liked Melissa and Doug's puzzles. They are always of good quality. I was disappointed this year to find out they stopped putting a cover on their wooden puzzles/dolls. In the past they would have a plastic/plexiglass like cover that would slide over the top of the puzzle. They are still stored in a nice wooden box, but there is no lid to keep it all contained.
Melissa and Doug wooden pizza set - Review written on December 31, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
I have used the wooden pizza set in many settings and it has always been a huge success. I used it in my classroom and the kids found it open ended, imaginative and a good learning tool. My grandson ( 2 years old) also loved it and enjoyed role playing "restaurant" with it. The list goes on and on. Unlike many toys that blink, speak, and yell at children, this toy is quiet and creative. You can't go wrong with this purchase with young children. It is so versatile and durable as well.
Great toy! - Review written on December 29, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
Although we had a not-so-good experience with a Doug and Melissa toy before, we decided to get this one for our children (5 and 2). It turned out to be all we expected! It is a great toy, made of solid painted (not with stickers on) wood. It encourages their imagination and creativity. Our little ones love it and I can tell we are going to enjoy many, many great "pizza days" for a long time and I am sure this is the kind of toy that they will be passing on to their younger cousins or even their own children one day. Two thumbs up for this one!!
"the bestest Christmas present ever!"... - Review written on December 29, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
My 5 yr old niece LOVES this pizza party. She's set up her very own "Really Good Pizza Store" and insists on making us eat more slices of pizza with every possible combination topping than we ever dreamed of wanting! It's fun for her, safe, and not messy for mom!
Fun, durable toy - Review written on December 26, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
I bought this for my 2-year-old son as a Christmas present and it was one of his favorite gifts. It's very sturdy - not sure how anyone could break it - and it's perfect for pretend play. My son was cutting and serving up slices of pizza for people all day. It's a little difficult to actually cut the pieces with the pizza cutter since they're attached together with some pretty strong velcro, but that didn't seem to bother him He also thought the pepperoni actually looked like strawberries, but again that didn't bother him. The only thing I wish this toy had was a cover for the wooden case it comes in for easier storage.
great quality toy from Melissa and Doug - Review written on December 26, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
My 6 yr. old daughter squealed with joy when she opened this toy for Christmas. She loves crafts and "creative" toys and doesn't easily get bored with this type of toy. Her excitement for this gift surpassed all the others:barbie, my little pony, disney princesses, Digital Arts & Crafts, and even a Barbie the Island Princess vanity(purchased from Amazon)!
Another high quality toy from Melissa and Doug that will last for years.
Great toy. Educational but paint chips. - Review written on November 13, 2007
Rating: 4 out of 5
My kids love it. They use it all the time. I eat pizza practically all day, if you know I mean. It is a great toy and can be educational to teach fractions and counting. Bad thing is that it is dropped often so the paint chips easily and the wood bends. If you don't mind having less than perfect looking toys I think that this toy is worth it.
Pizza party is a little boring . . . - Review written on October 19, 2007
Rating: 3 out of 5
My 2 year old is a big fan of Melissa & Doug toys, as are myself and my husband (they are safe, durable, and educational), but this one just does not hold her interest as much as other similar toys they make. I rate it an "okay." I highly recommend parents instead consider Melissa and Doug's cutting food set or sandwich making set, my 2yr old plays with these for hours and still loves them!
Cute, cute, cute! - Review written on September 08, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
My son received this for his second birthday and plays with it every day. He loves to put the pizza in his play oven and serve it, and when we're done, we turn it over to make "cheesecake" for dessert.
Once in a while he puts one of the topping pieces in his mouth, but he is old enough that it isn't an ongoing problem. I do keep the pieces away from my younger daughter, however.
My one complaint is the toppings are are of a size that if they are not placed exactly right on each slice of pizza, they hang over the edges, making it hard to "cut" the slices with the pizza cutter.

My brother gave my kids this toy several years ago and it's still a favorite! I'm going to buy his daughter the cake today. :-)
Great learning toy - Review written on August 06, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
My granddaughter enjoys all of the Melissa & Doug wooden food cutting/preparing toys, very educational. If I had one negative to say it's that most do not come with a lid so I am constantly picking up pieces to each and putting them back in their wooden boxes.
a very unique toy for hours of creative fun - Review written on July 31, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
This really is a great toy. It's different than the typical overly plastic toys that major manufacturers make - it's very durable and unique. My 2 year old daughter loves to make everyone pizza and brings it out to all our guests. My nephews, ages 3 and 6, also love this toy and have played with it for hours. Melissa and Doug make a similar Birthday Cake toy that is, once again, a big hit with my daughter.
great toy - Review written on July 05, 2007

They best thing about this toy is that there are plenty of topping pieces, so if the kid loses one (like they will) they tend not to notice.
My daughter loves it.
Fun and imagination play! - Review written on June 16, 2007
Rating: 4 out of 5
My sons, 5 and 3, drag this out again and again. It's simple imaginative play. One takes orders, and one makes pizzas. As basic as it is, it never fails to entertain. When other kids play at our house, they always seem to gravitate to the Pizza Party as well. Definately worthwhile!
PIzza toy - Review written on June 08, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
Great toy!! My son loves to serve my wife and I pizza. He adds toping's and then uses the utensils provided to slice the pizza. The topping's as well as the slices are held together by small pieces of velcro....very clever. It's a great time.
Kids Love It! - Review written on April 14, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
Children, no matter what their age, love this toy. It is the first toy my oldest grandson gets first every time he comes to my house. He and his 18 month old brother fight over it. My friend's older children love it also. I'm not sure what the intrigue is, but you won't go wrong if you buy this toy.
one of our all time favorites - Review written on April 08, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
My daughter got this toy as a present after an unusually rough trip to the dentist when she was 2 (she is now 6) - she loved it and played with it daily for ages. My son, now 3 1/2 has been playing with it for a few years and loves it just as much. It is alot of fun for pretend play - give them a pad of paper and a towel for an apron and they can be chef and waiter in their own restaurant. My son will play this for as long as I can keep up making orders.
Son Plays "Pizza" Every Day - Review written on January 18, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
My son plays with this set everyday. He uses the pieces as pizza toppings, throwing stars, soup ingredients, blocks, money, cake, etc. I purchased a set for my two neices also and they have a blast with it. I got them the birthday cake set too. I have to say that for the amount of pieces it comes with, for some reason my son keeps them all together, which is amazing for a 3-year old.
Retro, well designed, and realistic - Review written on January 16, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
My grandchildren enjoyed preparing the pizza by placing the Velcro toppings on; and then slicing the pieces that are held together by Velcro. It's realistic in application, but retro in appearance.
Pizza Party!!! - Review written on January 16, 2007

Very realistic toppings. Great design. Velcro tabs are strong enough to hole the pizza together but loose enough for our son to cut apart.
Pizza Party - Review written on January 09, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
Another favorite from the Melissa and Doug line of products. The pieces of the pizza and the toppings all have velcro for easy enjoyment of putting together or cutting up your own pizza. The children love to use the toy pizza cutter it includes to make a realistic "cutting" noise when dishing up slices of pizza topped the way they want.
Excellent!!! - Review written on January 09, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
This went over incredibly well at Christmas!
This is a high-quality wooden toy that comes in a wooden crate for storage. My children can spend hours making their own pizzas, pretending to cook them, and serving them with the included pizza slicer and server. This toy is a big hit and I would love to buy this in the future as a gift for other children. This was a very worthwhile investment!
A good learning toy. - Review written on January 07, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
I bought this for my grand-niece. My niece is an educator and she said this is a great toy for teaching as well as play. Kids can learn fractions by dividing the pizza in different ways, simple addition and subtraction concepts, and learning same and different by matching toppings in different combinations. Being able to manipulate the pieces reinforces the teaching. Since it's also a lot of fun to play with the kids have fun while learning.

We got this for our (twin)grandsons for their second birthday. Here is the excerpt from their mother's blog:
"Here's a re-enactment of this morning: silence...silence..."PIZZA WHEEL! PIZZA WHEEL! TOBIN PIZZA WHEEL! ZAC-EE PIZZA WHEEL!" When I went to their room to get them up they both pushed past me and ran out to the living room to find the pizza wheel from their new pizza toy. They were alarmed to find that their presents had been put away and the pizza wheel was no longer atop a pile of presents and wrapping. I had to get out a timer to give timed turns of the thing. I'd say they like it! Zachary was holding the pizza plate on his hand like a waiter and saying "green eggs and ham" and "ish wish dish" (from One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish)."
Best of all, it doesn't take batteries and make sound every time you touch it.
Needless to say, grandpa's workshop had to make a second pizza wheel and spatula.

Anyone who owns any Melissa and Doug toys knows that they are educational, fun and DURABLE! This pizza set is no exception. Kids love to "cook", and this is a great way for them to do it. It can be a super-helpful toy if Mom or Dad needs a minute to cook dinner and wants to occupy the children and keep them out from underfoot while they do it.... set them up at the table and let them make a pizza! Heck, even let them put it on the table and "serve" it with dinner!
These toys are so worth the cost... which is relatively cheap, if you think about the fact that these will never break and they'll be played with for much longer than other skimpy plastic toys. Treat your kids to this great playset made with quality long-lasting materials. Wonderful!
