Nice Cutting Board - Review written on June 26, 2005

I bought this as a replacement for a larger wood board and was concerned when it arrived that it might be too small. Actually this is the perfect size board for chopping veggies and then adding them to soup, stew, whatever. My other board was too large and I always had to use a scraper to get the ingredients from the board into the pot. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the sticky decal comes off if you soak the glue in oil. I soaked mine in olive oil (I just grabbed the nearest thing) and it came off easily and completely. This board is also reversible, which is nice if you need to avoid mixing the taste of something, but don't want to hassle with cleaning it. Just flip it over real quick and cut your next item. It goes in the dishwasher without a hitch (unlike my wood boards.) It also doesn't slip on your countertop. All in all this has become my favorite cutting board.
Stylish product, less than perfect - Review written on June 12, 2005

While I love the stylish look in my green kitchen, this "Poly-Board" is not anywhere near as durable as the acrylic one I replaced after 10 years. I used that so long and so hard the pebbles wore off, and it was smooth. It does not slip (as my acrylic did when it lost it's "feet"), but I've had it for 3 months and it's covered with knife slices, which have stained (mildly), on both sides. Polyboard is too soft, and damages easily. Size is perfect, don't get the smaller one, but don't use sharp knives if you want to keep it as lovely as the day you bought it. One-year replacement warranty sounds good, limited Lifetime is questionable - but I haven't tried either, so I can't speak for Kitchenaid. They are a first class company, with quality products.
2 Stars because of the knife cuts, with consequenting stains.
4 Stars for looks and non-slippage.
I had no adhesive problems - they must have fixed that after the complaints.

Forget the oil to remove this glue. GooGone works much better.
Why do manufacturers insist on putting on these hard-to-remove labels, or maybe the glue in China is much better!!!!!

I recently bought this cutting board and it is just perfect. The size is big enought to get even melons cut up and handle large tasks. It doesn't slip at all because of the colored edges that hold it in place. Also easy to clean, just put it in the dishwasher or wash with soap and water. I just got rid of a wooden board that I could not get the onion smell out of but no problem with that here. Also, they have now decided to tape the labels on so no problem with any glue.
Glue is annoying, but the board is fine. - Review written on December 31, 2004

The non-slip cutting board gets the job done; it really doesn't slip, at least not on our granite countertop. To take the glue off the cutting board, soak the glue spots in vegetable oil a few times. It does come off eventually.
New Label Adhesive?! - Review written on October 14, 2004

This cutting board is wonderful. I used it today to cut tomatoes and it didn't even stain. Hopefully it will stay that way. As for the glue holding the label on...they may have corrected the problem. Mine (which I ordered in the beginning of September) came with the labels attached with tape and it peeled right off, no problem. I like how it looks so much, I just leave it out on the counter next to the sink so it's always ready to use. I'd highly recommend this item.
How to make *ANY* cutting board NON SLIP - Review written on September 22, 2004

3 stars, 'cause I'm neutral on this cutting board.

For those of you "wowed" by the non-slip factor or for those of you that find $$ for a polypropylene hunk 'o plastic too steep here's some words of advice.

#1) Put a simple tea towel (kitchen towel) under your cutting board next time. Reduces both the noise _and_ the slippage.

#2) Head down to your neighborhood tap plastics and buy pieces of polypropylene. Guess what? Same material...works just fine and well under half the price.

My 2 cents.

My favorite cutting board - Review written on September 09, 2004

Of all the cutting boards I have, this one is the one I reach for most often. It's easy to clean, an excellent cutting surface that I am confident using my expensive knives on, doesn't slip, and is easy to lift and carry when I'm done cutting and ready to cook. The 11x14 size is good - not so big as to be bulky, but big enough not to be cramped when working with one or two ingredients. If I can find the next larger size in stock, I will also be picking up one of those as well, but avoid the 8x11 board. It is simply too small to use comfortably.

My only complaint is that which other reviewers have mentioned. The glue they use to affix the label to the board (not sure why it has to be glued on when the entire thing is shrinkwrapped) is nearly impossible to get off completely. A good scrubbing and a trip through the dishwasher and you'll be safe from glue in your food, but you're likely to have a cosmetic reminder of the glue for the life of the board (my glue residue turned green from the sponge I was using to scrub).
Very Nice Cutting Board - Review written on August 20, 2004

The board is quite serviceable, attractive and easy to handle. The cutting surface is actually about 11x11. The blue ends, which prevent the board from slipping while in use, feel like they are hard rubber and do their job very well. Thanks to other reviewers, I did not waste time trying to soak off the decals. I simply, but carefully, used a razor blade type scraper which is normally used to remove similar decals and paint spots from windows and window shields. Worked nicely.

I am considering buying this item - HOWEVER this "glue issue" is definitely cause to pause before purchasing. A review of this same item but in RED states that soaking the "glue area" in vegetable oil for about an hour - followed by wiping of course - removes the glue. Hope this helps anyone else considering the purchase. I give it three stars simply because I do not own it and am remaining neutral

Fantastic cutting board. Stable, doesn't slide around on the counter and if using for meat just throw in the dishwasher when you are done.

As the other posters have said, they're not kidding about that glue. Don't buy this board. It looks very nice, but after scrubbing with sponges, soaking in hot water overnight, putting it through the dishwasher a couple times, etc, I cannot remove 4 sticky wads of glue (two on each side). DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING THIS THING.
It really is non-slip - Review written on June 28, 2004

Yes, the label is held on the board with a glue that resists all efforts to remove it; that's true. But I figure that if it won't come off after dedicated scrubbing, it won't come off on my food, either. (There goes one point; you'd think KitchenAid would fix this really dumb error.)

However, the cutting board is excellent in all other respects. It's a good size (neither too big nor too small), fits in the dishwasher with no fuss, and -- as advertised -- just doesn't slip around on my marble countertop, even when the surfaces are wet. The handle is nice for grabbing the board from across the kitchen, but it's also surprisingly helpful as a mini-drop spot for, say, dumping the garlic skins temporarily while I chop garlic.

I think I have 3 or 4 chopping boards, both wooden and poly. This one immediately became my favorite.

I bought this product and plan on sending it back to the manufacturer. The glue they used to place labels on both top and bottom (it's reversible!) does not come off. After soaking it overnight, scrubbing by hand, then running thru a dishwasher cycle... the glue residue is still there. The product may be fine, but so little attention was paid to packaging, the product is useless.

I just received this cutting board. There was a label on each side attached with glue which hasn't come off yet after several minutes of scrubbing. I am very disappointed.

This is very light (I hang it from my towel hooks) and the handle makes it very easy to pick up and to hang. It is sturdy - has stood up very well to my meat cleaver! It's easy to clean, also. It's attractive too.

I've tried many poly cutting boards, and this is definitely the best I've found so far. I really like the rubberized handles, which prevents the board from sliding on the countertop. This is much more effective than boards with little rubber feet, which can wobble and get in the way. It's hard to go wrong with KitchenAid!

This board goes well with my blue KitchenAid appliances. The handles is rubberized and easy to handle. The rubberized parts also prevent the board from slipping around on the countertop.

This is an improvement over my expensive wood cutting board because I get no wood splinters in what I'm working on.
