Multi-functioned Toaster - Review written on April 23, 2008

KitchenAid KTT570WH 4-Slice Digital Toaster with Bagel, Warm, and Frozen Functions, White
It took the place of a 30 year old 4 slice toaster and a bagel toaster. It's nice to have just one toaster. We have found that you need to adjust the numbers on the toaster depending on which feature you are using. It does a nice job on the defrost/bagels. Providing you put it on the right setting. If it isn't done evenly, put it back in for a little bit more. It does take more work than our old ones. We never had to fiddle with the settings on either the old toaster or the old bagel toaster. It is very hard to find a LONG 4 slice toaster as most of them are wide. This takes up less space on our counter. We doubt that this will last 30 years, but we're very glad to have one that is nice, sleek and does a reasonable job. Just remember, if it doesn't come out evenly browned on all sides, next time you use that type of bread, turn it up a notch and it will be more evenly browned.
I like Kitchenaid - Review written on March 11, 2008

I am impressed with how well Kitchenaid stands behind their product. At first I was put off by some of the negative reviews. I have never had a kitchenaid appliance fail. My coffee maker is the only counter top appliance that isn't Kitchenaid. Over the years, I have traded up, given the hand-me-down to my daughter, and they are all still going strong. Coffee Maker has been replaced twice. I will always try Kitchenaid first.
We owned the two slice model and we were very happy with that. But, since I make bread, usually in a half dome shape, my husband said, "Please, get a toaster that will accomodate longer slices."
"Sure!" I'll go shopping. I have shopped and bought many toasters over the last forty years. This one is it. The bagel setting does a great job on bagels and it is also great for "Warming your buns!" Um, hamburger, hotdog, etc. toast the inside slightly.
Splurge, buy the bigger model, its more versitle, not much bigger and I like the controls on the front.
A fine 4-slice toaster - Review written on January 02, 2008

After almost 20 years happily using 2 successive Cuisinart 2-slice tandem toasters that have been recently discontinued, we tried this Kitchenaid tandem 4-slice toaster. I don't have to wait until my wife's toast is done to make my own (she said, "Whatever do we need a 4-slice toaster for? There's only 2 of us!" - forgetting that 2 people times 2 slices equals 4 slices).
At first I was disappointed - the toast came up slowly, and incompletely, the toast didn't get dark unless I first pressed the 'frozen' button. I even wrote to the company and said this was a bad design - they immediately sent us a replacement.
But meanwhile, the original toaster improved steadily! We did comparison testing with the replacement toaster when it arrived, and realized that the mechanisms are merely stiff at first, and after a few toastings, the unit works just fine.
The slots are not as long as the Cuisinart, nor quite as wide, but are just fine for our purposes.
