Cry - Great song! Kind of bubble gum, but the lyrics are deep and work very well with the flavor of the movie. The funny thing is, though, she had the song recorded before the producer had even heard it or agreed to use it for the movie.
Someday We'll Know - Very good sound with Jonathan and Mandy. They blend perfectly. Great lyrics, too.
Only Hope - Wow! Listen to it and find out.
It's Gonna Be Love - Okay, but a lot like other Mandy Moore songs. Seems repetitive. I still like it, though.
If You Believe - Rachael Lampa is one of my favorite Christian singers, and I am very glad she sang this song. The lyrics are sweet... although not the best love song.
Only Hope (Switchfoot) - When I first heard the Mandy Moore version, I thought that something seemed wrong about singing it to a guy she's in love with. Sure enough, this is a Christian song to God. Switchfoot sings it with such emotion and there is an anointing on it. Absolutely wonderful.
As for the other Switchfoot songs... What can I say? Their music is always awesome in the sound, quality, and lyrics. I am truly impressed with their music and passion for Christ.
The other songs are good additions to the CD because they shake up the sound by bringing much-needed rock edginess.

I am a huge addict of movie soundtracks and nearly everytime I have been overwhelmed by the fantastic music. "A Walk to Remember" is certainly no exception, by combining soothing mellow rock with pop music to create an immensly enjoyable and powerful hour of music. The songs reflect off the deep themes of the movie and listening to this soundtrack really transports me back to the scene - as every good soundtrack should do.
1) "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot.
This song is played at one of the critical changing points in the film (without giving too much away!) I have become a serious Switchfoot fan because of this soundtrack. Dare you to Move is a gorgeous and emotional song with nice lyrics.
8/10
2) "Cry" by Mandy Moore
This soundtrack features some of the best song Mandy Moore has ever sung. Though her lyrics are in typical poppy fashion and arent particularly original, it is nevertheless one of my favourites. "Cry" has the most beautiful uplifting melody and nice harmonies. It is the song played in the closing credits of the movie.
9/10
3)"Someday We'll Know" by Mandy Moore and Jonathon Foreman
A duet with Mandy Moore and Switchfoot's frontman automatically hints this is a good song! Its a sweet song, although not my absolute favourite, but I love listening to it to reflect back to the part in the movie when Jamie and Landon dance on her porch! *sigh*
8/10
4)"Dancing in the Moonlight" by Toploader
This song was a radio hit when it was released, so it was really nice to finally own a great song of the past. The song is played when Jamie and Landon are bonding. I love the intros and the great rhythm! It's just a really good song to let loose to!
8/10
5)"Learning to Breathe" by Switchfoot
The second of four songs on this soundtrack by Switchfoot. I love this song, mostly because of its instrumentals and chorus. It is played when Jamie and Landon show up to school together and I thought it just flowed so harmonically with the scene. I love this song!
9/10
6)"Only Hope" by Mandy Moore
Definately Mandy Moore's best song to date, let alone my second favourite off the entire album. This song is simply electrifying, with eerie piano and Mandy's voice is haunting. The song gave me shivers with its stunningly beautiful lyrics and I absolutely adore it! Mandy actaully sings it in the movie as Jamie at the school play
10/10
7)"It's Gonna Be Love" by Mandy Moore
This is the last of Mandy Moore's songs on the album. I like its melody and backing music and Mandy's vocals a good. Again, the lyrics arent very imaginative, but I still like it, and its in a good part in the movie and Landon gives Jamie a tattoo!
9/10
8)"You" by Switchfoot
This song is my all-time favourite off the album, and is now one of my favourite songs ever. Switchfoot nailed this song to perfection. Its instrumentals feature a harmonic cello and adds so much depth and emotion. The lyrics are stunning and the message behind this song is beautiful! Its an electrifying song! It's played during a huge turning point in the movie (again, I wont give anything away!)
10/10!! (without question!)
9) "If You Believe" by Rachael Lampa
I didnt really like this song. Mostly because I dont particularly care for Rachael's voice. Its my least favourite off the album. The song doesnt really play a big part in the movie either. Its only heard for literally 2 seconds when Jamie and Landon are driving in the car.
5/10
10)"No One" by Cold
It is the most heavy metal off the album. Its not a favourite of mine, due to its melody, doesnt really get me.
6/10
11)"So What Does it all Mean?" by West, Gould and Fitzgerald
I congratualte Shane West for his writing of this song. Its a cool song and Wests vocals arent half bad.
7/10
12)"Mother, We Just can't get enough" by New radicals
Gotta like this song! I really like it. Its fun and lively. Cool lyrics... "Theres something about YOOOOU!" hehe!
8/10
13) "only Hope" by Switchfoot
This is Switchfoot's rendition of the same song Mandy Moore sings, and again its one of the gems off the album! Its arranged differently, but still just as effectively and the vocals are stunning! Its played in one of the best parts of the movie, but if i said which bit... it would kinda ruin the ENTIRE movie! hehe
10/10
So in conclusion, "A Walk to Remember" Soundtrack is excellent! I never thought that pop music could be combined with rock and still make great listening but this soundtrack definately proved me wrong. Its an album i will look to for inspiration and comfort when I am not at my best. Beautiful!

I have never been a fan of all the "popular" girly music like Brittany Spears, Christina Aguilera and Mandy Moore, but when I saw the movie, "A Walk to Remember" my view changed a little bit. I still wouldn't buy any of Mandy Moore's cds, but this soundtrack is awesome. Also, this soundtrack put Switchfoot in the spotlight and is probably the reason they are popular today.
Long before Switchfoot's songs were on the radio,(as in popular radio) they were pretty much only on contemporary christian stations and appealed mainly to that crowd. I am not ditching that crowd, by no means, I'm just saying their music hadn't reached bigger stations until after this movie came out. Because this movie is spiritual and so touching it gave them the break they needed to reach the top of the charts.
This is the type of cd that you can just put into your cd player and drive as far as you want to go. You'd know what I mean if you listened to it. The lyrics in Swithfoot's songs are so softly spoken, and yearning to be listened to. The guitars are playing in the background, and it's as if they don't even exist. The lead singer definantly makes these songs complete, without him, they wouldn't be nearly as sucessful.
As for Mandy Moore, this is the best music she has put out, even to this day (in my opinion). Maybe it's because she was one of the leading stars in the movie, and that's what mainly all of the songs remind me of. I definantly reccomend this cd if you're in a mellow, "be by myself" kindof mood. Also, if you're a girl like me that get's in those "emotional" kind of moods and likes to sing along with whatever's on the radio, this is also for you.

OK...so I'm flipping through the channels with the TV remote one weekend, and I come across a movie called, "A Walk to Remember". Even though I'm 30-something, I'm a sucker for a good teen romance flick! As I'm watching the movie, I'm finding that I'm enjoying the music more than the movie. So I decided to buy the CD and boy, I was not disappointed! Not only is it my favorite soundtrack, but it's one of my favorite CDs altogether. I rarely ever give out a 5-star rating because I always feel there is room for improvement; however, this CD hits the nail right on the head and definitely deserves it.
I really wasn't a fan of Mandy Moore's prior to this --- I just thought of her as another one of those many brainless blonde pop performers. But her performance here has persuaded me to give her a second chance, and I will definitely be on the lookout for her future releases.
And what can I say about Switchfoot? I had never even heard of them before this, but they just blew me away. They are known as a contemporary christian music band, but their music is not what I would consider to be the typical (or expected) christian music sound. They were so good that they made me want to check out their other albums.
The only song that I could say seemed out of place here was the one by Shane West's band, "So What Does It All Mean?" on track 11. His band has more of a punk sound --- and although I didn't like it at first, it has grown on me (although I'd still say it's my least favorite track on the CD).
A diverse collection "To Remember" - Review written on September 17, 2003
Rating: 4 out of 5
The soundtrack to "A Walk To Remember" is one of the best teen-movie soundtracks since "The Princess Diaries" However, the two soundtracks couldn't be more diferent, despite appearences by Mandy Moore on both discs and films.
Of course Christian rockers Switchfoot have something to do with the difference. With four tracks on the CD, plus a duet between lead singer Jonathan Foreman and Mandy, they provide a large chunk of music. And the formerly under-rated band rocks! "Dare You To Move" starts off the disc, and, boy, is it awesome or what? Foreman's voice practically drips with emotion. The Mandy Moore song that follows, "Cry" is somewhat typical teen pop. However, "Someday We'll Know", the aforementioned Foreman/Moore duet, makes up for that, and Mandy's amazing reading of Switchfoot's "Only Hope" is almost better than the original.
But there are other talents on this project. Toploader's funky "Dancin' In The Moonlight" is a great deal of fun, and Cold's "No One" is great as well. 16-year-old Rachael Lampa shows she can rival Mandy and her pop-princess sisterhood in the poppy "If You Believe" West, Gould and Fitzgerald's "So What Does It All Mean?" drops the ball, but New Radicals picks it back up on "Mother" before tossing it back to Switchfoot to close the album with the original version of "Only Hope"
Bottom Line: An album worth "Remember"ing.

This cd has a song for everyone..theres such a good selection of songs..ones that touch you so much they bring tears to your eyes, ones that get you loosened up, one that you sit and listen to the sweet voice of Mandy Moore, and if its her your looking for this is it. This cd consists of quite a few of her wonderful songs, some you many not of heard of if you've never seen the movie, but will never ever forget the name of once you listen. I have one thing to say about this cd, that if you thought the movie and book were something to remember, this cd will do you one better. You'll not only remember it, but you'll be listening to it ngiht and day, happy or sad, its the perfect cd for absolutley any time or place.
