moving still stinks, but at least it doesn't hurt - Review written on August 11, 2008

These straps are pretty cool, and once you get them set up properly on your arms, you'll be surprised how easy it is to lift dressers and other heavy furniture you previously had to struggle with.
I agree that these do work very well, and for a product under $20 they have saved me a lot of hassle. My dad couldn't stop laughing the first time he used them- a previously troublesome cabinet became a breezy 1 minute move. The ease of maneuvarability made our footing much better as we had to step over rolled up carpets and other construction equipment (you should always make sure your path is clear... you know, for safety.)
However, here are things the Forearm forklifts cannot do or issues I've noticed:
1) It does not make you instantly super-strong. You're still going to be team lifting a very heavy object- if you couldn't lift it before, you won't be able to lift it now. The product helps you lift with larger muscle groups, saves your hands the stress of holding up the object amd allows you to move furniture in a more "back-safe" way, but it doesn't grant the user super-strength (duh).
2) The straps really make it so that you need a third person to help with doors and or navigation (especially up and down stairs). Y'know that trick where you prop the object with your thigh while you turn and push a door open? Well these handy lifting straps essentially lash you to the object, restricting your hands from doing anything but guiding the object you're lifting (which is probably safer, anyway).
Really, a great moving product. Every able bodied group of friends and family should have a pair or two.

I used these straps during a big move, and boy am I glad I bought them! I have a history of back problems, so I was a little nervous lifting the heavy items, but these straps make it a breeze. They really help emphasize proper lifting techniques, as you must squat with your legs and keep your back straight to get your arms in the straps properly and your hands against the item you're lifting. Really heavy items will STILL feel heavy, but the leverage you get with these straps is amazing.
They are not too useful for really short items though, as the lowest arm strap might not be low enough to get a good grip on the item. I found that they worked best for matresses, tall dressers, appliances, and my big sceen TV. It helps if the item has feet underneath...that will help prevent the straps from sliding out. If not, cross the straps as shown in the instructions, and you will have no problems. Stairs can be a bit tricky...you might need to have the person going up the stairs first to get a lower grip on the item so you remain level as you go up.
These things really work! I highly recommend them....
Misleading product title - Review written on March 23, 2008

I purchased this product based on how useful it is.
But, when I was deciding if I should purchase it, I saw the title as: " Above All Company Forearm Forklift Lifting Straps, 2-Pack". I thought, hey, not bad. Two pack for such a great price. Once I received the product, almost a month later. I only received ONE Pack.
2 PACK usually means 2 sets, 4 straps!!!
Very misleading.....please rename the title or just remove the words, "2-Pack"
Forearm Forklift works for many items - Review written on March 20, 2008

This is really worth $20. It saved my back. We had to move a fridge, oven, dishwasher, armoires-- on stairs. We could never had done this without the straps. They took a little getting used to and if the item isn't "tall" enough for you to have your hands on it, supporting the upright stance, they don't work. For instance, we had a very heavy TV. Since it was such an awkward shape, and all the weight is at the front, and you don't want to ruin the screen- it didn't help for that item. But, they are really useful.

I've used these only a handful of times and they work great, but there are some things you should know before falling for all the hype and marketing:
- You still must obey the laws of gravity. These straps help to stabilize large, awkward objects while moving, but a 300 pound dresser is still a 300 pound dresser.
- The infomercial shows women using these straps with ease, but my friends who've tried it felt uncomfortable using it, citing that it relies a lot on upper body strength which they lack.
- These are straps. Imagine them strapped to the 300 pound dresser that I mentioned. Those straps are strapped to your arms. Now imagine that dresser tipping over or sliding in any way. Basically, wherever it goes, you're going with it.
The best experience I've had with this product was with a buddy of mine who was open to figuring it out. We spent a minute or two going over how this is supposed to be used and what we were going to do with what we were moving. It helped out a lot and made the move much easier and safer than it would have been.
But mostly I've been in moving situations where I had to spend time convincing someone to use something new or having someone try it who felt unsure about them. In those cases, these straps did not go over so well and things went better when we ultimately moved the object by hand sans fancy orange straps.
The bottom line is: I think these are very useful to people who are willing to use them, learn about them, and take the extra time to set them up properly on the object to be moved. I think the marketing of this product puts a dangerous thought in people's heads that "anyone can lift anything as long as I have these magical straps!". This to me is clearly untrue. You still need a certain amount of strength to move large, heavy objects and these straps, while providing a superior way to move heavy objects, do not give you that strength. You DO NOT want to be strapped to something that you shouldn't be attempting to move in the first place!
