Vanity Fair is one of the only magazines worth subscribing to year after year.

They never skimp or fluff the writing: its always insightful or informative. Both men and women enjoy reading it, so its perfect for a couple to both take interest in. While other magazines may offer the same high calibre writing, none is as affordable as VF.

This is one to invest in the 2 year, because you'll find you cant do without it.
Old Magazines Sent, Not Current Issues - Review written on September 15, 2008

I love Vanity Fair, but after paying for the subscription, I received the current issue that had been on the stands 2 weeks, and I already had it. Then on Sept. 11, I got an old issue that was on the stands in July. I have yet to receive the current issue that I see on newstands. So basically, I have yet to receive a current issue and wonder if I ever will. By the looks of the old magazine they sent me, I am getting the returns from the news outlets, not current publications. Big disappointment. The magazine is great, but not the service.

Never mind the near naked women photos, the articles look like they were written by two year olds on a cheap PC Computer. Just wind. No fact finding, no uncovering news from reliable sources, NOTHING. It is trash magazine that has Gossip which makes the National Enquier look good.

Vanity Fair encompasses the best in cutting eadge high fashion and well written controversial articles about people, fashion, and the world surrounding it all. Always a thick, lushly photographed magazine, its contributors are the tops in their fields. Vanity Fair is important enough in the magazine world to spark trends, controversy, and provides world recognized photography. A thoroughly delicious read!

I am re-subscribing to Vanity Fair. I have been a big fan for many many years - despite living outside of the USA. I only wish I did not have to wait for "6-8" weeks for the subscription to be activated.

Very Disappointed.
They began my subscription with an issue that is already over two months behind the newsstand. Typical corporate crap...! Like reducing the value of the subscritpion by 20 percent or so.

Thanks alot Amazon, I will not forget who organized this consumer rip-off.

Amazon does an excellent job with delivery. I placed the order and the following month received my first magazine. I'm a very pleased customer and would recommend magazine orders through Amazon.

There's only one reason I look forward to receiving this magazine - the way the feature stories report not only an event, but also the characters (I mean, people) within them. Writers would benefit from reading these pieces on a regular basis.

Delivery estimate:May 8, 2008

Arrived between March 16 and 23, 2008

Vanity Fair has always been a favorite of mine. But be warned: the subscription may arrive sooner than expected, about 6 weeks before estimated in my case. Not wanting to miss the current issue I purchased one to take on spring break. When I arrived back from vacation I found the same issue in the mail. I know, I should have been patient, but I couldn't help myself! I guess I'll be giving one away.

I quit subscribing to all fashion magazines. The models are emaciated and look like freaks. Our society is sick. Women are not supposed to be angular, they are naturally rounded; These magazines include Vogue, W, Elle, Cosmo. I keep Vanity Fair around for the articles. Well written ones on politics, art, business, and life in general. Loved the stories on Eli Broad, Rupert Murdoch, George Bush, the Obamas, Clintons, White House strategies, Karl Rove, and wasn't there one on Brooke Astor? Takes a long time to read one issue. Kiss Kiss!

This is one magazine I have wondered about for some time. My first issue was a very pleasant surprise. While the preponderance of ads put me off when I flipped through it, the articles erased my idea that this was just another sales vehicle. I thoroughly enjoyed the article on George Bush which was well written and very informative. This is one subscription I will keep and the ads are pretty if nothing else.

Vanity Fair used to be my favorite magazine. It is really sad that it has gone so far left. It used to have such well researched articles that were so objective. It is a shame that such a great magazine has gone so low. I wish the owners of the magazine pay heed to comments like mine. It is very important that the media remains objective and not have these far left agendas.

This is the best "all around" magazine I've read. Plenty of current topics and insights into people and celebrities done in an intelligent way. Information pertinent to men and women. It's the only magazine I read from cover to cover...and that's a lotof reading since it's so full of information.

Unless you want the Editor's liberal political views SHOVED down your throat, avoid this magazine. It leans to the left so hard that you have to lie on your side to even read it. (And no, I am NOT a Republican or Democrat, but an Independent who looks at all sides). The Editor of this magazine has a huge agenda to get the Democrats back in power, he bashes Bush and the Republican party over the head with a 10-ton hammer on a monthly basis, yet worships eco-phonies like Laurie David and celebrities who want the rest of us to drive eco-friendly cars while they fly the world in their private jets. (I understand Laurie and her friends like Sheryl Crow ARE "trying" to wean themselves off this practice by cutting down on their private jet hopping trips a wee bit and using a huge gas guzzling bus that is criss-crossing the country instead, but that poor Laurie is finding this hard to give up. What hyprocrites these Hollywood folks are!) Though I am personally trying to do my bit for the environment, I hate when I read issues like the current "Green" issue where these so called eco-environmentalists really only want us "common people" to make the changes. This used to be a great fashion, entertainment and current event magazine with a lot of in-depth articles, but now it is only a political platform publication. I now will just throw it away as soon as it arrives when I receive it, until my subscription expires.

They began my subscription with an old issue which I had already purchased over the counter. The following day I received the current issue. I didn't complain to Amazon, but I think this is a shoddy practice used by magazine companies and Vanity Fair should be above this.

The only reason I like this magazine was because of the photography in it. I find most of the articles boring, or not to my tastes. I do enjoy the photography. There is an occasional interesting article, but I am a photographer, and all that interests me in this magazine are the photos. I like that it is cheap for a year's subscription too.

I'm not sure how this magazine ever got the reputation for being more than the glossy fanzine it is. There's nothing wrong with celebrity mags, but this one has pretensions of so much more when essentially, it's about as deep as an E! True Hollywood Story about Kato Kaelin. I've tried many times, but alas, this one is sadly not worth the tree destroyed to print it.

Don't be fooled by the pretty faces on the cover. This is one of the savviest newsmagazines around. Read it and love it for the crackling writing, the grown-up humor, and the inside story. Then treat yourself to the dish about the sins of the rich (who are usually NOT the people in the tabloids, but mysterious financiers who live offshore and have dark and shady pasts...) and a brief interview with the cover celeb. It's one of the best monthlies available.

If you want a magazine for fashion, buy Vogue. If you want a magazine for news or current events buy Time or Newsweek. This magazine seems a bit schizophrenic. It just doesn't know its genre. Not bad, but because it is so unfocused it also fails to be great. However, it did arrive in a timely fashion, and as far as light entertainment goes, it's fine.

This is a magazine for those enthralled with celebrities. Without the fine writing of Christopher Hitchens I rarely would read it. The last article I enjoyed was on the eccentric Howard Hughes. I like the high quality photos, but it is basically a deeper version of "People." It has the same shallow slant that overglamorizes celebrities, luxury, consumption, & encourages narcicism. Why they have to have articles on advertising when two-thirds of the mag are ads is overkill? The first forty pages are ads, then you reach the contents page.

They also have two annoying habits. Bashing non mainstream media like attacking "Fox News," has become a sport by their competition who are clearly losing the ratings war. The constant articles on England's royal family seem repetitive & archaic. Is it not the twenty first century?

I don't remember when I first started reading Vanity Fair, but it was many years ago and I have continued to read this great publication, as well as save the issues for the longest time. I find it to be the most complete magazine for me and I'm always looking forward to the next issue. Thank you, Vanity Fair, and keep up the great work.

About two years ago, Vanity Fair was not only the best magazine of the year, but maybe all time. I would read it from cover to cover.

Now, sadly, it is a bunch of fluff. The quality has really gone downhill. I am going to let my subscription run out. I really miss the old days.

I don't normally like glossy magazines that think too much of themselves, I think that they were invented to be dumped on coffee tables to look good when you have visitors around for coffee but if you want a really good and intelligent read, buy TIME or Newsweek.

However I will make an exception in the case of Vanity Fair, I actually subscribe to it which came about after I read a really good article in it about racism. I was quite impressed, it was well written and quite unbiased, rare in a magazine that is known for its skinny models/actors/musicians who lounge elegantly as they give interviews whilst looking the camera and say in hot sultry voices, "Darling, I'm an artist, it's my passion, my love, that's why I do it!"

I won't say that Vanity Fair has given me too much food for thought but it has been enough for me to take out a year's subscription to see if they can come up with anything else that is remotely intelligent and thoughtful and they haven't done too badly up to now.

If you really want to get a glossy coffee table magazine then get this, it will serve two purposes, one it will look good on your table and two you might just find someting interesting in it to read whilst you are flicking through it.

A Formulaic Magazine that Always Entertains - Review written on August 02, 2006

VANITY FAIR is a highly recommended monthly magazine for people who enjoy reading. Packed with lengthy articles, gorgeous photography and blurby information, it never fails to entertain the reader. It is the perfect companion for a lazy afternoon at the beach or on quiet plane ride across country.

The VANITY FAIR forumla is simple: slap a photo of a celebrity on the cover and inside offer a wide variety of articles, including Hollywood puff pieces, Domenick Dunne's true crime accounts, in-depth articles about international scandals, Christopher Hitchens essays and profiles of colorful, unknown characters.

Though this formula has changed little since the magazine was revived in the 1980s by its now legendary editrix Tina Brown, the magazine's new editor, Canadian-born Graydon Carter, has succeeded in putting his own personal stamp on VANITY FAIR. In virtually every issue Carter uses his Letter from the Editor to bash US President Bush.

Though I do not begrudge Carter his right to speak his mind, after months of reading Carter's criticism, I get bored with these relentless rants.

Still I highly recommend a VANITY FAIR subcription to anyone who enjoys reading.

I have read Vanity Fair for the past twenty years. The articles are timely and in depth. There are articles on politicians, bankers, CEOs as well as the Hollywood types. This is the magazine for those who want to be in the know. Also, the photographs are fantastic. If you are looking for a two paragraph blurb about the actress/actor of the hour, this is not the magazine for you.

Let me say straight up, this is a great magazine..it is one of the few magazines that is consistantly good. I have been a subscriber for seven years and I can say without reservations that this is one of the best magazines in print. The contributing writers like, Christopher Hitchens are first rate, I will admit Hitchens is an aquired taste, but he always makes me think..and laugh everytime I read his essay's, whether I agree or not. I also enjoy reading Dominic Dunne's diary, he really does have a great life, and he knows everyone..who's anyone, granted he is a total gossip and a social butterfly, but he knows it, he is in on the joke so to speak. I was afraid the quality of the magazine would suffer when the singular Tina Brown left, but Greydon Carter has continued her steller helmsmanship. I highly recommend this magazine, I really don't know a soul who has subscribed to this magazine that has not loved it..honest.

I'd always heard about interesting articles in this magazine. But the mess of ads and People magazine gossip that lands (with a big, heavy thud) on my doorstep every month is the most worthless magazine I've ever made the mistake of purchasing. It's pretentious tripe aimed at a small group of NYC media insiders, self-regarding movie celebs, and those people who'd like to be part of that world. Even when they occasionally hit on a compelling subject, the writers are so narcissistic as to be truly repellent. It'd be more accurate simply to cut "Fair" out of the title.

Superficial mag. Open the edition done by Tom Ford and you will be disgusted with his self-gloating, and sexist photography of women. I don't mind nude pictures, but he only uses women-like sex objects. Reese Witherspoon (highest paid actress in Hollywood) is showed holding a doll by it's arm with an empty stare into the lens.the men are portrayed in sexual positions with the women, and the African actors portrayed are dressed in animal skins!Revolting!
