I have owned my KitchenAid mixer for 27 years, and it is wonderful. But, I have used it so often over the years that I actually wore the finish off the flat beater. Needed to order a new one, a no brainer went to AMAZON, they had just what I needed, it was quick, easy, reasonable price, received quickly. I ordered the wrong beater, but Amazon made returning the wrong beater so easy that I will continue using Amazon as my primary source for just about anything.

My Kitchenaid mixer is 14 years old so I was thrilled that I could find a replacement part so easily and for such a good price. If the beater paddle is missing the whole mixer is worthless!. But this paddle came quickly, fits my old mixer perfectly and I am back to mixing cookies and cakes in the kithchen every day. What can I say, I never thought about this item until I didn't have it. I hope this one lasts another than 14 years!

The best thing I ever purchased for my mixer. In fact, I bought two this time because I use it so much. Very reasonable price as well.

I went to every store looking for this item and found it right away, here. It is difficult to find these replacement pieces without paying an arm and a leg for them so I won't hesitate to shop Amazon first when I need something like this again.

I'm going to be hand washing my new beaters. My original is over 7 years old and still intact, but it was starting to peel and has been lumpy most of its life. I believe leaving it sitting in water and washing it in the dishwasher caused the lumpiness and have decided to wash my new beaters by hand after using them. So far this has worked well and proven to be very easy to do.

This only problem with this product is it doesn't hold up well under normal use. I have to replace it about once a year as the white coating keeps cracking or chipping off after about 10 months of use. Is the white coating necessary??
7 years and going strong! - Review written on December 01, 2007

I have had this product for over 7 years with no issues. I suggest following the care guidelines and NEVER wash this in the dishwasher. I always handwash wit mild soap after use and NEVER let it sit in water. I do not let dough or anything I have mixed dry on the beater, either. I have had no issues and love this product, but do agree they should offer a stainless option for these mixers.

I used my paddle so much that it was losing its plastic coating. The replacement is perfect, but then I love my kitchenaid mixer and use it a couple times a week every week!

I gave it 5 stars, but I just bought it. It finally dawned on me that I could probably buy a replacement beater. Of course, Amazon is the first place I look for anything, because of the reviews; not to mention, not having to shop around to find the item in the first place! So actually, the 5 stars should go to Amazon! Anyway, my mother gave me her well used, beloved K.A. It was just to heavy anymore for a woman in her 80's. Thanks, Mom! Problem is, after many years, the coating became brittle and as previously described, wears out on the bottom and eventually cracks off into little pieces, not so good to find in your cake! I was pleased when my replacement arrived. (sooner than estimated) It seems to be ceramic over cast iron (like the stove burners) and made as well as they were originally. Which surprised me. Why I am writing: in response to previous reviews. If you don't want the ceramic coated get the one called burnished! It's all metal.
WHY doesn't Kitchenaid make these out of stainless steel??? - Review written on July 15, 2007

I own two KA mixers and have used them heavily over twenty years. These beaters DO have a durability issue, and to me it'd be easy to remedy.

The older mixer came with a whip made completely of stainless steel, and the coated beater and dough hook were also of a more durable metal. At some point Kitchenaid started substituting aluminum-- a material which corrodes in the dishwasher, bubbles up (under the coatings, even) and results in cracked coatings and nasty-looking attachments which don't slide onto the mixer shank easily.

I see that some higher-end mixers are available with "burnished steel" attachments--this might be just what Kitchenaid needs to start offering for the lower-end mixers. Or they could just go back to whatever they were using 20 years ago. These beaters are just a big blemish on the face of what is a wonderful appliance.

My wife does lots of baking!

We are on the third flat beater like this one. After extended use, the white coating wears out and starts peeling off at the bottom most point of the beater. It's a good beater but the coating does not last forever.

To avoid flakes of this white coating in the food, we've had to replace the beater twice over 3 or 4 years.

I've tried to locate an uncoated, white metal beater with no success.

Who would've thought that these things wear out and must be discarded so often!?
I've previously purchased two of these as replacement beaters for our Mixer. They have each worked well for a year or so but then the plastic coating starts to wear away and falls off into your cookies/rolls/bread/whatever.

I honestly thought that the first time was a fluke but now that the second beater has shown the same problem I'd call it a flaw. I'm wondering if there is some other option for beaters that will NOT fall apart into my food after a year of mild to moderate use. I don't want to spend $15 every year on a stupid beater!

You had placed your sticker with bar code over the manufacture's bar code and your label was incorrect. I hope you correct your error before you send several custmers the wrong item

Due to the nylon coating coming off our old beater we are replacing our KitchenAid flat beater after 15 years of use. We note that product description says to "hand wash" and that perhaps 15 years of cleaning in the automatic dishwasher is the reason for the deterioration. Still this is the 21st century and you would think KitchenAid could come up with something that doesn't require 19th century cleaning techniques.

I see some people complaining about the paint chipping on this beater. I have had mine for almost 7 years with no problems, but I was told by a professional pastry chef to never put the beater in the dishwasher, or even let it soak for a long period of time. I haven't and it's been fine. I am finally getting around to getting a second beater to go with my second bowl.

When this beater was offered in my gold box shortly before Christmas I snapped it up. This is the third beater I own for my beloved Kitchen Aid stand mixer. When you do as much baking as I during the holidays it's lovely to not have to wash up between each batch of cookie dough. One is never enough.

I have had my Kitchen aid for about 12 years, I love it! THe problem, as stated before, is the fact that the "metal" turns "bubbly" under the paint and the paint then starts to crack. This is not a favorable aging process. It does take several years to "turn", but when it does make you feel a little cheated, the price you pay for these machines shouldn't warrant this low-end occurance. While the beater lives it is SUPER! I make bread a lot in combo with the dough hook and it works great! Cookies, cakes , anything from scratch, you KNOW you'll be able to mix! Even something heavy or with nuts.. no problem! Kitchen-aid.. if you are reading this... Why ?! Why does this happen! The dough hook is still in prefect condition. I have other attachments and they are all heavy duty and GREAT!

I love my kitchen aid mixer! I use it all the time, expecially at Christmas time. However, the paddle attachment and other white coated attachments peel and chip. Who knows where it ends up? Probably in those cookies I'm feeding my family. Although I love my kitchen aid, the attachments need to frequently be replaced, therefore I rate this a 3.

If you have a KitchenAid mixer, then chances are, you are a serious cook. And when serious cooks begin their work, they don't want to stop to wash dishes in between steps. That's why this flat beater is essential. Get it not as a replacement but as a spare, along with an extra mixing bowl. Especially if you entertain or prepare complicated meals, you will be thankful for the extra parts.

The flat beater can be washed in the dishwasher, although it's easy to wash by hand as well. Solid and heavy, the beater seems indestructible, so a small investment now should last for the long life of your KitchenAid mixer.

Highly recommended.

Kitchen Aid,
Thank you for creating such a great attatchment for your food mixers. This addition to the mixer is used almost weekly in creating "from scratch" recipes for my children who have food allergies. Many prepared items contain ingredients that they can not have, so I am constantly baking for them. The flat beater has been a major time saver because of the thorough mixing. It mixes the ingredients in half the time of past mixers that I have used. The sturdiness of the beater also allows me to mix much larger batches of cookies without straining the mixer.
It has been almost 10 years since I received the Kitchenaid mixer as a gift and I would not be able to cook with out it, I am so spoiled by it's efficiency.

Thank YOU!
