I use this grill almost every single day, honestly! I know it's large and takes up lots of counter space but it's not a real problem. It makes a great meal for the whole family and despite it's size, for just one person. It's wonderful for entertaining, I invited about 50 people over for my daughter's birthday party and made them teriyaki chicken with plenty of time to enjoy the party. Clean up is easy, just wipe it down immediately after you use it and if it has cooled down just turn it back on for a few minutes and with nothing more then a paper towel and some water it comes clean quickly. It's a great time saver, it cooks everything within 10 minutes and much more evenly then an outdoor grill and I don't miss the smoke or waiting for the coals to heat up. I pretty much make everything on it, it's great to grill sandwiches, quesadillas, bagels, even garlic toast comes out really great. I love to make fresh salsa and the grill is amazing for that. I grill fresh tomatillos, anaheim peppers, and a jalapeno, pop everything into the blender and ta da! a quick and delicious green salsa. I hardly use my stove anymore and I definitely don't use the oven at all. Even though I bought it on a whim, my best friend has one, this has been one of the best purchases I've ever made, worth every frugal penny I've ever spent.
Loved it for two years, but now can't get it clean - Review written on June 30, 2005

I loved this grill for two years -- using it for burgers (six big ones), salmon fillet, boneless chicken breasts and thighs, steaks, boneless pork and more. But it is a bear to clean -- I always make a huge mess in the kitchen when cleaning it, but cooking is a tidy job -- no grease splatters, food comes out tender and juicy. It now drips grease onto the counter in addition to the drip tray. And the non-stick coating has worn, and I have to buy a new one because it won't come clean enough to use it even one more time. It's done. But I loved it while it lasted.

I generally avoid all infomercial products as a general principle, but the small George Forman grill was offered at such a great price on Amazon, I couldn't resist.
I was interested in duplicating the very expensive (over $8.00 each) grilled chicken quesadillas sold at a take out gourmet-style shop in town, so I intended to purchase a panini grill. For less than the price of two of these sandwiches, I bought the George Forman mini grill.
The reason I'm posting my review on the jumbo grill site is that I think this is probably the most popular size and I want to share my cleaning tips.
I had previously purchased a large bunch of 100% cotton "bar" towels (approx 14" x 18") from my local warehouse club. I bake bread frequently and like the nap of these towels (which have a thin ribbed washcoth texture) for removing flour and specks of dough off of my countertops and mixer.
Working from the cleaning tips of other George Forman reviewers, when I'm finished cooking, I wet a clean bar towel and place it in the hot UNPLUGGED unit while we eat. The stuck ingredients steam clean and I can rinse out the towel and use it to gently scrub the unit down. The towel is washed in the washing machine with my kitchen towels...and no wasted papertowels! I avoid sponges, because of the materials they are made of...not sure if they should be heated...and I don't want to leave residues of soap on my grill.
Hope this helps.
Clean up not as bad as I heard - Review written on January 05, 2005

After much deliberation and research, I finally purchased the GR36CB grill. I'd considered the newest version because it has the detachable, washable plates, but it wasn't big enough to suit my needs. I made my first meal on it last night (marinated chicken breasts) and was very pleased with the results. It got plenty hot enough - cooked four large breasts in 9-10 minutes. I loved that they stayed very moist, too. I had marinated them in a store-bought 30-minute marinade. The grill looked terrible when I finished cooking, but I was pleasantly surprised with the clean-up after reading so many frustrated reviews about the clean-up process. I had sprayed the grill before preheating with PAM, then used the spatula provided while the grill was still warm (after our meal was over) and everything came off. I needed to wipe it with a wet rag and then run a paper towel over it, but it looks brand new again. The only warning is that clean-up is MESSY - the dried bits of cooked chicken/marinade stuck to the grill kind of go all over while you're wiping the grill off, but it is easy enough to clean up the counter. My only other concern is that my chicken breasts were very thick (at least 1.5 inches in spots) and those areas got a bit charred while cooking, but not enough to affect the taste. Flipping the breasts over halfway through cooking helped with the next batch. Next time I'm going to slightly pound them to a thinner thickness to help with more even cooking. At any rate - if you need the BIG grill (I have six in my family), I really recommend this grill. Don't be scared off by the cleaning unless you really consider yourself a neat freak. Just imagine having to wipe down your outside grill every time you have a meal - of course it is a messy thing, but it is possible to get it clean with not that much effort. Quick, tasty, healthy meals!!!
Speedy Cooking, Troublesome Cleaning - Review written on December 07, 2004

I've had a George Foreman jumbo grill for nearly a year now, and my wife and I use it around 3 times per week. When we first got it, we marveled at how fast it cooked burgers, hot dogs, chicken cutlets, steaks, pork chops, fresh vegetables, fish, etc. Considering we both work, it was very convenient to be able to come home and cook up dinner in a few minutes.
But in the past few months the novelty is beginning to wear off--along with the teflon coating. It doesn't seem to be very durable, even when you use plastic utensils. I think it's causing food to burn easier, so I really need to keep a close watch on what I'm cooking now. Also, the unit now emits lots of pops and pings when it heats up, which it never did in the first few months. Sounds like the grill may be on its way out in the not-too-distant future.
The biggest problem, as many of the other reviewers noted, is cleaning. This grill really is a pain in the neck to clean, unless you're cooking something not too messy like hot dogs. The grease drips down into the cracks underneath the grilling surface, as does the water and soap when you clean the grill (there must be lots of gunk inside the unit!). And if you cook anything with sauce on it, you're in for a real tough cleanup. I bought the George Foreman sponges, which were a big help but didn't make the process any more tolerable. Cleaning the grill leaves a big mess on the kitchen counter.
I've recently become much less inclined to use the George Foreman grill because of the inconvenient cleanup (lots of scrubbing, paper towels and counter mess). Plus, I think the wear and tear is now causing the grill to cook food unevenly. Food doesn't seem to be turning out as well as when we first used the grill.
An indoor grill with a removable grilling plate is a better option. We had a Farberware indoor grill with a removable surface, and it's FAR easier to clean (a couple of minutes, a couple of paper towels--and can put in sink). It also has a higher-quality construction--I use brushes to clean the surface and the bristles don't peel off the teflon, plus there's no popping and pinging during heating. It also cooks MUCH better--food looks like it was grilled outside and cooks more evenly, especially if you want to retain some of the meat juices (the two sides of the Foreman grill sometimes squeeze everything out of the meat and rubberize it). Still, it does take longer to cook than the Foreman grill.
repeat grill - Review written on March 14, 2004

I have had a george foreman grill for over 3 years. I started out with a smaller grill and used it daily for months. The non-stick surface wore away when someone cleaned it with an abrasive surface. I have had this large grill for 5 months and its invaluable to any cook without alot of time. Everyone has paid special attention on how to clean the grill. I always spray a little non-stick spray on the cooking surfaces that come into contact with any food, this seems to keep the grill in pristine condition.
Like a few other reviewers, I've had a few problems with the foreman grills where the outer shell becomes discolored, no matter if you wash it after every use. Both grills that I bought have had the problem of grease mysteriously covering the countertop while the driptrays were in place.
I loved this grill since Im a student on the go but since I started Atkin's over 6 months ago, its priceless. I use it 3 times a day and it heats up just as quickly as the day I purchased it. I have bought 6 grills for other people, every person uses it on a daily basis.

This has to be my most used kitchen appliance! Someone in this house uses it daily at some point because it's so easy to throw in a frozen piece of meat..include some frozen/fresh veggies and you have a warm, healthy meal in minutes with no grease, no draining and no defrosting. MUCH better than having the kids microwave some pre-made, unhealthy 'quickie food' from the freezer when hungry. Thas was my favorite part, being able to throw in a frozen chicken breast and have it cooked perfectly, quickly and with no hassle. Plus the huge size allows me to add enough meat for the entire family and no cooking for hours either.
The ease of use is it's best quality. Convenience saves time although that brings us to the only problem we've found..cleaning up. It would help if the grill part was removable to clean. Although I've had various waffle makers that had the metal parts removable and springs broke, moisture got underneath into the mechanical areas and it also became a hassle so we don't find this is too big a problem as there are less parts to keep track of. All in all we love it!
Okay for those who can't barbecue - Review written on October 26, 2003

I bought this unit because I live in an apartment and my neighbors (and fire department)would frown on my barbecuing inside my livingroom. It's okay for most double griddle situations (it's really not a grill at all) such as ham steaks, flat fish and chops. It is faily easy to clean, and the savvy chef can use the drippings to use as a glaze or gravy. It is VERY FAST. I cooked a frozen sea bass filet (0.5 inch thick)in under six minutes. Most meat, fish and poultry have retained their moisture content. It is excellent for frozen hamburger patties.
On the downside the heat and timer units are fairly clunky and the indicator labels wear off easily. It does not grill in the sense of the word, and therefore does not recreate the taste of a true barbecue. Think of it as a griddle, equal heat top and bottom, like a waffle iron.
Good grill with some drawbacks - Review written on September 01, 2003

I've had my grill for over 6 months now. I like the way it cooks foods quickly but it has a few drawbacks that I think reduce its overall rating
Pros:
1. For the most part cooks quickly and pretty evenly
2. Comes with a decent receipe book
Cons:
1. No on/off switch. You have to plug and unplug to power it off or on. There is a power light to show when it's on.
2. No temperature control and no temperature indicator
3. Grill is not removable for cleaning - even with a "non-stick" surface and a spray on non-stick things still seem to stick to it pretty agressively and require a pretty good scrubbing to remove. The non-stick surface also seems poorly bound to the grill so the life of the grill may be shortened since it can't be replaced.
I like the concept but the execution is slightly lacking - if they made these improvements I would buy another one.
'SMOKIN! [for real .........] - Review written on June 16, 2003
Rating: 3 out of 5
WELL Folks - this is kind of a "Review in Progress" with updates following the progressof this quite remarkable machine - once hooked you just gotta use it, clean convenient, basically smokeless, and quite safe for adults - don't let the kiddies near it though [speaks for itself]. AND clean-up is a cinch ~ simplicity.
BUT - after about 8 weeks of fairly constant use - 3 to 4 times per week, it 'seems' to take just a little longer to 'fire-up' - the thermostat is now audible - one can hear the elements clicking .......... and then there's the 'shell discoloration' Yep! Although 'smokeless' the once pristine outer shell is beginning to yellow - around the edges - especially the top.
SO updates will follow ...... not sure about the longevity of this babe.....

I am a full-time student, mom of two very active boys, and married to an often-traveling husband. With our schedule, fast and easy is a necessity. This grill is awesome. You can have a delicious, nutritious meal on the table in 10 minutes or less. Clean-up is really easy too. While the grill is still hot pour a small amount of water over the hot plates, be sure to have an empty drip tray ready! The drippings slide right off the grill and you can just paper towel it dry.
I bought the smaller version of this grill years ago, and it's still going strong. However, I just recently upgraded to the super jumbo size to accommodate my teenager's growing appetite and I absolutely love it!
My Second GFG - Size Really Matters - Review written on May 03, 2003

I've had one of the little GFGs (George Foreman Grills) for about two years. We love it and still use it heavily. But we are a family of five, with 3 teenage boys who like to eat.
Now I can grill meats and vegetables side by side. I can throw up to eight burgers, some nice steaks (even a whole london broil with room for grilled peppers, onions, and mushrooms) and especially, finally, a whole large fish. We no longer have to eat in shifts, and believe it or not, to me, this thing is MUCH easier to clean than the smaller versions.
We were concerned about the counter space, storage, etc., but this has now pretty much replaced many of the utensils and pans we used for frying and broiling. The big GFG has its own space in a cabinet now, unlike the little one which was always jammed-in somewhere.
This is a nice value.
