Greatly improved my cooking - Review written on January 15, 2008

I love this pan! Here in the Northeast, it's not much fun to grill outdoors in the winter, so I got this pan as a substitute. I've had grill pans in the past, but they heated unevenly and delicate foods like fish stuck to them.
If I'm not braising it or steaming it, I'm probably cooking it in this pan - shrimp, fresh fish, vegetables, burgers, steaks, chicken breasts - even satays and skewers. Because I can get the pan so hot, everthing cooks quickly but with beautiful color.
I wonder if I'll ever want to grill outside again?
Don't hesitate...buy this pan - Review written on November 10, 2006

This pan has become my most used piece of cookware. It grills anything from fish to vegetables with nothing falling in the grate or falling apart because I couldn't control the heat. It is large enough for fast meals for four. I grill salmon two or three times a week. I like to get a crisp, but not burned, grill marking on the fish, and this pan does it perfectly. I don't even use my hard-to-clean JennAir grill parts anymore, and I haven't felt the need to replace my broken outdoor grill. The nonstick is great...no burning and easy, easy cleanup even though the pan surface is not even. I like the stay-cool handle also. The exterior hasn't gotten discolored, but I have used Barkeeper's Friend on other pans without scratching.
For average thickness salmon filets, I heat the pan up for two minutes on 8; then cook the flesh side about 3 minutes, flip and cook the skin side about 2 1/2 minutes, flip it again and remove the skin leaving it on the flesh side for a minute or so depending on how well cooked the fish is getting, then I like to flip it one more time to sear off the gray fat part that is under the skin while the fish finishes cooking. If I can put a fork in easily, the fish is usually done. If the filet is particularly thick, I will sometimes take a knife and cut the filet in half (portion size) to speed things up in the finishing stage. Then I can see when the fish is perfectly medium to medium rare and not overcooked. Heart healthy and fast! Add some slices of grilled eggplant brushed with olive oil. Bon appetit. Those grilled eggplant slices make fabulous vegetarian lasagna or mousakka.
Best Pan I Own! - Review written on June 01, 2006

...and I own lots of them. Started getting more heavily into cooking a year or so ago, and have been adding sets and pieces as I go. He11, I never do anything half way! Anyhow, I have Calaphon non-stick pieces, an Anolon anodized aluminum non-stick set (great set), and Cuisinart Classic stainless...another great set. Also bought Emerilware through another on line retailer, which I won't mention...but it rhymes with CutleryandMore. Without going into too much detail, they suck, and the Emerilware is just as bad. Working with All-Clad now to get some MC2 pieces in exchange. Trust me here: All-Clad is one very classy outfit!
So back to the grill pan. First, I can't believe the price....$49! Folks, that's a steal. Whoever said this isn't really non-stick is daft...nothing sticks to it. Most importantly, it's easy to cook with, and the food comes out great. Of all the pieces I own...way too many, given my limited talents...this is easily the best. Just try one steak or chop on it, and you'll see exactly what I mean. Food comes out juicy, tender and seared on the outside just like it should be.
I must sound like a shill for the product, but I assure you I'm not. Just read some of my negative reviews. Anyway, if you're even just "thinking" about buying this pan, hurry up and get it. No idea how All-Clad can make and sell this so cheaply, but sooner or later the price HAS to increase. So buy it now. It's one terrific pan. And by the way: clean up is a snap!
Super price for a super pan! - Review written on September 29, 2004

First let me say that I do not own any other All-Clad LTD cookware. This is my one and only. My main set is the Anolon Titanium 10-Piece Cookware Set. Secondly, even though I'm an attorney, I am still a seasoned cook. We entertain frequently, so having quality cookware is essential to a great meal.
Anyway, the reason I chose this grill pan instead of getting a matching Anolon Titanium grill pan is because I like the size and feel of the All-Clad grill pan better...even though it's not dishwasher safe like the Anolon Titanium pans. The Anolon grill pan seems to be deeper and more rounded at the botton...I wanted a more shallow pan and the All-Clad looked perfect.
For larger cuts of meat like porterhouse steaks, the All-Clad is only good for grilling two (2) portions at a time. For smaller cuts like hamburgers or filet mignons, it's good for grilling up four (4) portions. The depth and width of the grill grooves are just right for perfect searing.
And yes, it's definitely nonstick. I can cook hamburgers on it without it falling apart when I turn them over. Salmon too! Even though it's not dishwasher safe, clean up is pretty easy. Just wash with warm water and a non-scratch sponge and it's ready to go. (And trust me...I hate washing dishes...so that was a major concern!)
I'm not quite sure how a previous review did babyback ribs on this thing though...it's a grill, not a BBQ. There's no lid, so you can't do slow cooking on it unless you stick it in an oven. But since it's hard anodized...I guess you can stick it in an oven if you want to. (That's how I cook really thick cuts of meat for my in-laws who like everything well done.)
And another previous reviewer said that Le Creuset might provide a better flavor to meat...I'm not sure what that means either. The Le Creuset brand grill pans are cast iron. The only way the cast iron would have a different taste than the anodized pans is if there were old food/oil stuck to it...which is really how those pans work. You won't get old food/oil flavors on a nonstick pan.

I am recently single again (after 18 years) and had to start over with my kitchen. After a few weeks, I felt this empty place in my stomach -- and realized it was the lack of my grill that was causing it! I do not have a balcony, and can only impose on my friends with houses so much, so I needed a solution that would allow me to grill meat (steaks, chicken, burgers) without a grill. After some research, I settled on this pan as the best option for indoor grilling -- and it is perfect! I have cooked burgers a couple of times, and even grilled up an Omaha Steaks NY Strip for lunch (used a great spicy rub and tossed it on the very hot pan -- it turned out great! I had also bought a "bag of salad" and added some Newman's Own Low-fat dressing, and washed it down with a beer for a fully "balanced" meal). The pan does not "wipe" clean as I had hoped from a non-stick -- but it is still very easy to clean up. The pan is very heavy and solidly constructed, lays flat on the stove top and heats evenly. This price is a steal! An absolute must for single guys -- or anyone who enjoys grilled food but does not have a grill.
All-Clad LTD 12-Inch Round Nonstick Grille Pan - The BEST! - Review written on May 13, 2003

I am not a big fan of the All Clad LTD line but I do love this pan. I much prefer the All Clad polished stainless steel line (I have almost every piece and love it). This grill is a perfect size for grilling for 1-4 people. I debated on the grande size, I decided that since I don't grill everyday it didn't make sense to spend the extra money and deal with storing the larger size. Also, I selected the round style over the square, my stove burners are round so I figured that the round style made more sense for me.
I often marinade chicken tenders in Emeril Lagasse's marinade (he has several different marinades that you can find in your local supermarket) a day in advance and heat up this pan and toss on the chicken. I usually make a veggie or two and some rice, it is a very quick and easy dinner and is also very healthy! You can also use this pan for everything from burgers to a tuna steak.
This pan is not dishwasher safe due to the nonstick surface, but don't worry it is a breeze to clean. I have the George Foreman grill that has been sitting in the cabinet collecting dust since I bought this pan. I don't like the George Foreman grill because you can't really wash the grill surface very well. The grill surface should be removable so you can really clean it. This pan is very, very well made and is backed by a lifetime warranty. Sometimes this pan is sold as a special..., if you see it grab it. It is a steal at that price. Once you try All Clad you will be hooked too! Highly recommended! A+!
