Greatly improved my cooking - Review written on January 15, 2008

I love this pan! Here in the Northeast, it's not much fun to grill outdoors in the winter, so I got this pan as a substitute. I've had grill pans in the past, but they heated unevenly and delicate foods like fish stuck to them.

If I'm not braising it or steaming it, I'm probably cooking it in this pan - shrimp, fresh fish, vegetables, burgers, steaks, chicken breasts - even satays and skewers. Because I can get the pan so hot, everthing cooks quickly but with beautiful color.

I wonder if I'll ever want to grill outside again?

Great pan we use a lot, when we don't want to fire up the grill. Cleans easy, not a heavy thing like Le Creuset. We have a ceramic (glass?) surface so works on that with no problem.

My dinners have been saved with this pan. Just throw in a Rib Eye steak or two, a little salt and pepper, and WOW the best steaks I ever ate:) I'm sure it cooks other meats or chicken just as great. It's easy to clean, but do not put it in the dishwasher. It's the perfect grill pan. I can't recommend it high enough - and believe me I don't give to many 5 stars.

A fine example of a nonstick grill pan - but nonstick grill pans are a flawed concept. Also - it's not "clad". - Review written on August 15, 2007

I'm a big fan of All-Clad and have a lot of All-Clad LTD and MasterChef pots and pans. I feel All-Clad has a great design methodology and makes great quality gear. Also, their non-stick coating is the best in the business. This grill pan, however, isn't actually clad - the secret of its low price. It's made from a single piece of anodized aluminum - like a Calphalon pan - as a brief examination of the edge reveals. The beefy handle is the most All-Clad thing about it. The nonstick coating isn't the usual All-Clad type either - although it certainly is top quality. As a grill pan, this one is very good - that's not the problem.

Grill pans make grill marks on your food - but are no substitute for actually grilling. There's no smoke flavor or high heat caramelization. The only thing the grill pan gives you is the sear marks. To that end, the nonstick surface fights you. Metal gives much better sear marks than nonstick coatings. In order to get a nonstick pan to give good sear you must really crank the heat up. This makes a lot of smoke - which make a good lid a necessity. Sadly, this pan doesn't include a lid. I found that the Calphalon 12" "Everyday" pan's lid is a perfect fit by coincidence - so I use it every time.

I have the luxury of a grill outside my kitchen door. I'm the kind of hardy soul who has no problem stepping out in the snow in shirtsleeves to flip the steaks. I find all grill pans to be a very poor substitute to actually grilling. Maybe if I lived in the city and couldn't grill as easily I'd be more enamored of this pan. As it is, I mainly use it under duress (such as during bad rain storms when I reluctantly must grill indoors).

I love this pan. I bought it after reading all the reviews and it totally stands up to the raves that it gets on-line. I've literally used it almost every night since receiving it and haven't found anything negative to report. We can't have a bbq on our balcony (which my husband hates), but this pan has made him happy! I've cooked fish, lamb chops, Porterhouse steak, chicken and pollo asada on the pan and it came out great. The cleanup is a breeze, too. Get this pan and you'll love it!

I bought this for my wife. We have not used this yet, but she loves it. We got rid of our old electric grille and replaced it with this. There's a lot of room in this, I'd say you could grill 4-5 burgers at one time. Can't wait to use it. Nice alternative to grilling in the cold or rainy season.

I love this grill pan. I purchased for under $50 so it was a very good bargain. I use this pan on a smooth top electric stove and it works perfectly. It heats and cooks evenly. Great grill marks on chicken and burgers. Careful when washing it because it does hold the heat for some time after you take it off the burner. I have found that taking a paper towel and wiping out the grease while it is still hot makes it easier to wash after it has cooled off. I have had this pan for about a year and use it 2 or 3 times a week. I agree with the reviewer who likes this pan better than the George Foreman grill. The quality of this pan is superb and an excellent value at this price. You will not be disappointed.

It cost more than I usually pay for a pan but the quality just jumps right out at you. It looks good, feels good. Solid, well made. And it fixes food great. The heat spreads out in the pan and there seems to be no hot and cold spots. Things cook evenly.

Excellent pan for the price.Cleaning is easy, just use mild detergent.Easy to use overall, but thick chunks and pieces of meat take a long time to grill and are slightly burned when done. Thus, meat grilled on this pan should not exceed a certain thickness, for this is not a full fledged grill which generates extremely high temperatures like the outdoor ones. Then again, those are $5000+.Excellent for breakfast foods and overall use, doesn't stick and should be in every kitchen.

I was skeptical that any grille pan could be as good as these reviews, but I am very happy with the All-Clad. The temperature remains consistent, thus the food cooks evenly and there is NO sticking! It works as well for fish as it does for beef and pork. I'm throwing away my George Foreman; there is no comparison as to quality and results.

This pan has become my most used piece of cookware. It grills anything from fish to vegetables with nothing falling in the grate or falling apart because I couldn't control the heat. It is large enough for fast meals for four. I grill salmon two or three times a week. I like to get a crisp, but not burned, grill marking on the fish, and this pan does it perfectly. I don't even use my hard-to-clean JennAir grill parts anymore, and I haven't felt the need to replace my broken outdoor grill. The nonstick is great...no burning and easy, easy cleanup even though the pan surface is not even. I like the stay-cool handle also. The exterior hasn't gotten discolored, but I have used Barkeeper's Friend on other pans without scratching.
For average thickness salmon filets, I heat the pan up for two minutes on 8; then cook the flesh side about 3 minutes, flip and cook the skin side about 2 1/2 minutes, flip it again and remove the skin leaving it on the flesh side for a minute or so depending on how well cooked the fish is getting, then I like to flip it one more time to sear off the gray fat part that is under the skin while the fish finishes cooking. If I can put a fork in easily, the fish is usually done. If the filet is particularly thick, I will sometimes take a knife and cut the filet in half (portion size) to speed things up in the finishing stage. Then I can see when the fish is perfectly medium to medium rare and not overcooked. Heart healthy and fast! Add some slices of grilled eggplant brushed with olive oil. Bon appetit. Those grilled eggplant slices make fabulous vegetarian lasagna or mousakka.

This is my first all-clad pan, and it works amazing. The bottom of the pan is very smooth, and was my concern, as I have a glass top stove. I had to return a calaphlon grill pan because they had not made it for all stove tops. This is completely NON STICK, and clean up is a breeze. The heat is evenly distributed. I will look forward to more pieces from all-clad.

...and I own lots of them. Started getting more heavily into cooking a year or so ago, and have been adding sets and pieces as I go. He11, I never do anything half way! Anyhow, I have Calaphon non-stick pieces, an Anolon anodized aluminum non-stick set (great set), and Cuisinart Classic stainless...another great set. Also bought Emerilware through another on line retailer, which I won't mention...but it rhymes with CutleryandMore. Without going into too much detail, they suck, and the Emerilware is just as bad. Working with All-Clad now to get some MC2 pieces in exchange. Trust me here: All-Clad is one very classy outfit!

So back to the grill pan. First, I can't believe the price....$49! Folks, that's a steal. Whoever said this isn't really non-stick is daft...nothing sticks to it. Most importantly, it's easy to cook with, and the food comes out great. Of all the pieces I own...way too many, given my limited talents...this is easily the best. Just try one steak or chop on it, and you'll see exactly what I mean. Food comes out juicy, tender and seared on the outside just like it should be.

I must sound like a shill for the product, but I assure you I'm not. Just read some of my negative reviews. Anyway, if you're even just "thinking" about buying this pan, hurry up and get it. No idea how All-Clad can make and sell this so cheaply, but sooner or later the price HAS to increase. So buy it now. It's one terrific pan. And by the way: clean up is a snap!

I never thought I would be writing a review of a grill pan (or any cooking item, for that matter), but I am so impressed with this that I just had to. Everything I have cooked on this (steak, chicken, fish) has been cooked perfectly and the pan is so easy to clean. My outdoor propane grill will still be used occasionally when the weather is perfect, but the ease and convenience of this grill pan will be hard to beat. And at this price, I've just found the perfect wedding present for my friends getting married this year.

First thing we cooked in this pan were burgers, and we could not believe the difference in taste compared to pan fried. The raised ridges really carmelize the meat, and even when cooked well done the burgers are juicy. We have prepared chicken, pork chops and fish, and they are all at least as good as charcoal grilled. I would give this pan 10 stars if I could.

My favorite pan - Review written on January 29, 2005

Rating: 5 out of 5

I have a growing set of All Clad, and this is the pan I get the most use out of. It is completely nonstick, and the surface is as tough as nails. I cook delicate fish with it, and never have a problem. I often use it without any oil or anything, it's appropriate (and yummy!) to cook on it dry. Nothing every sticks to it, and cleanup is a snap. I will wash with warm water and/or deglaze, and it's good as new.
I purchased the 12" dome lid to accompany this and another pan I have, and I use the two in combination when I am cooking larger cuts.
It's an absolutely fabulous item. At $49.99, it's a bargain!

First let me say that I do not own any other All-Clad LTD cookware. This is my one and only. My main set is the Anolon Titanium 10-Piece Cookware Set. Secondly, even though I'm an attorney, I am still a seasoned cook. We entertain frequently, so having quality cookware is essential to a great meal.

Anyway, the reason I chose this grill pan instead of getting a matching Anolon Titanium grill pan is because I like the size and feel of the All-Clad grill pan better...even though it's not dishwasher safe like the Anolon Titanium pans. The Anolon grill pan seems to be deeper and more rounded at the botton...I wanted a more shallow pan and the All-Clad looked perfect.

For larger cuts of meat like porterhouse steaks, the All-Clad is only good for grilling two (2) portions at a time. For smaller cuts like hamburgers or filet mignons, it's good for grilling up four (4) portions. The depth and width of the grill grooves are just right for perfect searing.

And yes, it's definitely nonstick. I can cook hamburgers on it without it falling apart when I turn them over. Salmon too! Even though it's not dishwasher safe, clean up is pretty easy. Just wash with warm water and a non-scratch sponge and it's ready to go. (And trust me...I hate washing dishes...so that was a major concern!)

I'm not quite sure how a previous review did babyback ribs on this thing though...it's a grill, not a BBQ. There's no lid, so you can't do slow cooking on it unless you stick it in an oven. But since it's hard anodized...I guess you can stick it in an oven if you want to. (That's how I cook really thick cuts of meat for my in-laws who like everything well done.)

And another previous reviewer said that Le Creuset might provide a better flavor to meat...I'm not sure what that means either. The Le Creuset brand grill pans are cast iron. The only way the cast iron would have a different taste than the anodized pans is if there were old food/oil stuck to it...which is really how those pans work. You won't get old food/oil flavors on a nonstick pan.

This is a great pan and at the sale price it's also a tremendous value. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. It cooks beautifully, heats evenly, and stands up to use in the oven. The only thing negative I can say about it is that it doens't really live up to the claim of being nonstick. It's not hard to clean, but I have a Calphalon nonstick skillet that you can literally just run water into to clean. You don't even have to dry it beacuse the water won't stick to it! The All-Clad doesn't quite manage that, but is still a remarkable pan at an awesome price.

I am recently single again (after 18 years) and had to start over with my kitchen. After a few weeks, I felt this empty place in my stomach -- and realized it was the lack of my grill that was causing it! I do not have a balcony, and can only impose on my friends with houses so much, so I needed a solution that would allow me to grill meat (steaks, chicken, burgers) without a grill. After some research, I settled on this pan as the best option for indoor grilling -- and it is perfect! I have cooked burgers a couple of times, and even grilled up an Omaha Steaks NY Strip for lunch (used a great spicy rub and tossed it on the very hot pan -- it turned out great! I had also bought a "bag of salad" and added some Newman's Own Low-fat dressing, and washed it down with a beer for a fully "balanced" meal). The pan does not "wipe" clean as I had hoped from a non-stick -- but it is still very easy to clean up. The pan is very heavy and solidly constructed, lays flat on the stove top and heats evenly. This price is a steal! An absolute must for single guys -- or anyone who enjoys grilled food but does not have a grill.

I could not believe that I found this pan at this price. I was further astounded when I received it and started cooking on it. It is absolutely fabulous. NY Strip streak comes out truly delicious when you simply sprinkle some salt and cracked pepper on it and then throw it on the grill pan. Also works great for bacon. Also works great for burgers. Also works great for...anything you could think of. For cleaning, I recommend immediately filling it with water after taking the food out, enough to cover all the bottom, and then let it sit til after dinner and you start doing the dishes. If you do this, then I recommend an OXO brush (ASIN B0000CFQOB) with nylon bristles. Gently brush between the grooves to loosen the remaining material and then use a sponge. I recommend the nylon brush because it is hard to get a sponge to get every bit of remaining material along the grooves. But overall this is incredibly easy to clean and even easier to cook on. I still cannot believe I paid only fifty for this item.

This pan is the one I reach for when "grilling" fish. It adds a great flavor that's a close second to the Le Creuset grill pans. The Le Creuset pans yield a slightly better flavor, but the skin of the fish always sticks to the pan. If you eat a lot of fish and want to buy only one grill pan, then All Clad is the one. If you plan to grill mostly other meats and vegetables, then the Le Creuset may be a better option. Or better yet, get both of these great pans!

If you have reservations about getting this All Clad Nonstick Grill Pan, don't!! All grill pans are not created equal! This beautiful pan was so easy to cleanup- even after I over grilled my fish. Some soap and hot water-that was it. The pan heats up nice and even so my food cooked without any one place hotter than the rest. Translation- food is cooked evenly! The best part was the cool touch handle. It never even got warm. You need to follow the instructions on curing before the first use so that it will perform as advertised. If you don't, you can't blame it on the pan. Although All Clad is pricier than other brands, it is certainly worth it.

All Clad happens to be my all time choice for cookware. When I first took this pan from the box I was thinking... hmm this is lighter than what I am used to in All Clad cookware.. But.. it acts like All Clad cookware once you put it to the test. So far I have grilled chicken, salmon, and baby back ribs on this Grille pan. Everything came out perfect and the clean up couldnt have been easier, even with my sticky but tastey bbq sauces. As another reviewer has stated.. I am now using this and only this Grille pan and have given away my George Forman 14" grill. Another great pan from All Clad and well worth the money.

I am not a big fan of the All Clad LTD line but I do love this pan. I much prefer the All Clad polished stainless steel line (I have almost every piece and love it). This grill is a perfect size for grilling for 1-4 people. I debated on the grande size, I decided that since I don't grill everyday it didn't make sense to spend the extra money and deal with storing the larger size. Also, I selected the round style over the square, my stove burners are round so I figured that the round style made more sense for me.

I often marinade chicken tenders in Emeril Lagasse's marinade (he has several different marinades that you can find in your local supermarket) a day in advance and heat up this pan and toss on the chicken. I usually make a veggie or two and some rice, it is a very quick and easy dinner and is also very healthy! You can also use this pan for everything from burgers to a tuna steak.

This pan is not dishwasher safe due to the nonstick surface, but don't worry it is a breeze to clean. I have the George Foreman grill that has been sitting in the cabinet collecting dust since I bought this pan. I don't like the George Foreman grill because you can't really wash the grill surface very well. The grill surface should be removable so you can really clean it. This pan is very, very well made and is backed by a lifetime warranty. Sometimes this pan is sold as a special..., if you see it grab it. It is a steal at that price. Once you try All Clad you will be hooked too! Highly recommended! A+!

I've been using grill pans for years and have bought many brands. This is the best one, hands-down. I gave away all five of the others I owned after the first time I used this pan. I love All Clad cookware in general and this is my first non-stick. The results are so superior to any other grill pan I recommend it to everyone. If you want healthy and perfectly prepared grilled food, whether it's fish, meat or vegetables, without a drop of added fat, this pan is for you. Buy it.
