It's a good size, even heat & easy cleanup. I was concerned about it not being a no-stick pan, but its performance won me over the first time I used it.

This pan is not only pretty, but it cooks extremely evenly. Do not use metal utensils while cooking with these pans - I wasn't thinking and did scratch mine a bit. You'll love this pan!

I have wanted this pan for a long, long time, and I was finally able to get it. All I can say is that I wish I had bought it before. It's an amazing pan, food cooks evenly, nothing sticks, washes easily --- I'm happy to have it and strongly recommend it. A worthwhile investment!

This pan and an All-Clad saucepan were big splurges for me. I have not cooked in another brand of stainless cookware and did look at several other brands. That said, I have not questioned my buying decision once.

The keys for me have been "hot pan, cold oil (fat)", not being too chintzy with the fat, and letting the food get a good amount of caramelization before touching it. Not that that's rocket science, it's just such a treat to find cooking in stainless so easy. About the amount of fat, 1 Tbsp butter was sufficient for an omelet which didn't stick; but otherwise, I've actually been surprised at how little fat I could use--it just isn't like a getting by with little to no fat in a nonstick pan.

This pan is the perfect size for my family of two. It's easy to handle and fits on my stove burners well, so even if I was fixing more food I'd have a hard time switching from this size pan. It's an acceptable size for smaller meals like a two-egg omelet.

I wash the pan in the dishwasher and use Barkeepers Friend to get rid of any discoloration.

My wife and I received this as a gift to add to our 10" and 12" copper core pans. At first we did not think we would find much of a use for it. However, as we often have both of us and our two teenage boys all in the kitchen at the same time during a meal prep, we have found several uses for it. We sear or sweat some ingredients prior to adding them to a larger recipe.

If you already have parts of an All-Clad collection this will complement nicely. If you do not have any All-Clad this may be a good place to start.

I bought this pan for a christmas present for my husband. he loves to cook. I find myself using it alot also. It's so nice to cook with. I bought the cover separately but now wonder if I should have. I don't think I'll be using the cover much since it's a frying pan. Just something to think about. But the pan is outstanding!!!!

Overall it's a great fry pan, heats pretty evenly, cooks real nice and is oven ready. The handle could have been more oven glove friendly. You get the feeling it wants to flip unless you jamb a thumb into the top. If I had it to do again, I'd look closer at the less than $100 pans.

When cooking eggs add a little butter or Margarine to the cooking oil. This will solve all the sticking problems.

The pan is tiny whereby the handle rivots overpower the pan. The pan didnt heat up as quickly as my calphalon stainless 10in pan. I truely wont buy it again, go calphalon. It is cheaper with better quality.

It is perfect for cooking but hard for cleaning because of its size. Standard size sinks and stove tops are not large enough to accomodate with ease, but it is worth the trade off when cooking. I also recomment the lid it is excellent for many uses. Why would you want this pan without a lid?

Best little can do pan ever! After purchasing the 7 pc set from Macys I realized that the 12" pan is just too big for everyday use. I remebered thet Warehouse Deals/Amazon also carried All Clad, so I did my search and up came a 8" pan for $25.99 (approx) Easy enough, just click and it was on its way. Highly recomend All Clad to all my friends, as if they didn't already know that they make the best in cookware.

I bought this pan couple of weeks ago. I used it twice. I am really impressed with it. I thought it would be too hard to clean. I WAS WRONG. It's easy to clean especially if you use oil or butter (I never used Al-Clad fry pan without oil so I have no idea how does it without oil). I wash it right after done cooking.
I noticed that it does not heat fast, but food stay hot for long time after cooking (in the pan). When I decided to buy All-Clad frying pan I was thinking of buying non-stick one. Then I changed my mind after reading some reviews about All-clad non-stick surface. I said: Why to pay so much for non-stick when it's easy to scratch like any other non-stick. Great buy. Am glad I bought it.

As a stingy person by nature, spending $700 on a set of pots and pans is a real issue for me. As I've gotten older though, it has become painfully obvious that to find high quality goods these days you really need to spend a lot of money. All-Clad hits that mark. I just retired a set of Calphalon non-stick cookware, they are right now at a garage sale and might bring in $25. After about 6 years, non-stick surface on the 1-qt,2-qt and 10-inch fry pan were starting to seriously deteriorate, the non-stick retained smell of some foods(eggs/onions/etc) regardless of vigorous washing, and at least one pan just failed to be non-sticky.

After a few days cooking with All-Clad, I'm amazed. I have fewer problems with sticking than I did with my "non-stick" pans, they seem to heat faster, and they no doubt heat far more evenly. After making eggs for the first time I was shocked at the difference. After making pancakes for the first time, my wife called me at work in slight shock at how evenly they cooked.

On top of all of this, if I decide I don't want them, I can probably resell at 70-80% of retail. Not bad in my book.

This pan is worth the money. I have always used only nonstick pans before and I got so tired of replacing my pans after 5 years. I was worried that food would stick, but it doesn't. You just have to follow the manufacturer's directions and let the pan preheat before adding food. There is a lifetime warranty on this pan and I cannot imagine having to replace it. It is awesome. I use Barkeeper's Friend and it shines it up to look like new after each use. The only thing I don't like about this pan is the handle. It is very uncomfortable, and I don't know why All Clad would have designed such a great pan and then failed miserably on their handle. It is an inconvenience, but one I am willing to put up with for the quality of the rest of the pan. I do plan on buying more All Clad, but I wish their handles were more comfortable.

I was skeptical at first because I've been cooking for years with some high-quality non-stick pans. Recently AB announced that you can't really develop a good Fond in a non-stick. I have never been satisfied with the fond-based sauces and reductions I've made in non-stick, and now I heard my guru state what was going on. I bought this on sale, and my very first two opportunities to cook with this pan and derive a sauce reduction in it proved the point. I will be adding more and larger All-Clad pans to my firepower!

This is a very well made pan and it cooks really well. I was really disappointed that it did not come with a lid and in fact the manufacturer does not even make one. There are several dishes that I specifically bought this for, but they require a lid to be cooked properly. I corresponded with Amazon but they did not help me find a lid that could be used, so I am on my own. May be difficult to find one that will fit right. For the price, I would have to say I'm disappointed.

Remember that Queen song, "I'm in love with my car?" Well, I love my All-Clad pans. Food browns perfectly, deglazes easily and just makes cooking a dream. They clean up easily with a soak and a soft brush. If you are registering for a wedding or another occasion, definitely pop this one on your list.

Sometimes you want a regular surface pan instead of a non-stick surface. When you're frying steaks, for example, or browning chicken breasts. The goal is to produce fond, so you can make a flavorful pan sauce. Even heating means no hot spots. This is a kitchen essential. Buy this, and you'll never need to buy another 12-inch steel frying pan again.
HOW TO COOK EGGS - Review written on February 05, 2007

OK. Here is how you cook eggs in a stainless steel pan.
1) Preheat the pan to 130 degrees F (takes about 90 seconds on HIGH on an electric top).
2) Set cook temp to medium-low to maintain that temp.
3) Add a small amount of oil or butter.
4) PRE-WARM THE EGGS! This is the secret. Cold eggs taken directly from the refrigerator will always stick. Either let them sit on the counter for 10 minutes. Or run them under hot water for 1 minute.
5) Crack the eggs into the pan. Let them cook 1 minute.
6) Slightly reduce heat and let them firmly "set" before flipping.
7) Flip with the flexible thin stainless steel spatula.

For those still having problems, do this. After adding the oil, sprinkle a very light layer of salt on the bottom of the pan with the oil. Technically the salt is not recommended long term, as heat + salt can corrode stainless steel. In my experience doing this on occassion helps the pan retain its seasoning and non-stick properties.

You have to keep stainless steel pans VERY clean to do non-stick cooking on them like eggs. Occasionally you are going to get a thin layer of food build-up which needs stainless steel pad scrubbing to remove.

Cooking eggs is no problem in stainless steel, just takes more patience than Teflon. The eggs taste MUCH better on stainless steel than Teflon.

You need a good HEAVY pan with an aluminum core like this All-Clad to get good heat management. Light weight pans don't have the heat capacity and when those cold foods/eggs hit the pan, they will stick.

Good luck!

Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless 12-Inch Omelet Pan is just as good, However, it is not rated no. 1 by Martha or America's Test Kitchen. I spent $75 on the Calphalon and it is the best pan I've ever enjoyed. My sister in law has the All-Clad, she regrets spending too much after trying mine. I don't put it through the dishwasher, and eggs don't stick if you cook on med.-low.

I've been watching this 12 inch All-Clad when it was $112, just a few months, ago. Then, they raised it to $125. Now, it is $135. What's with the constant price increase??? I do have the 8 inch pan and it's great, that was about $40. It cooks my eggs fantastic. In response to the person with the eggs that sticks, it is because that person did not take the time to warm the pan. The pan is thicker, so it takes a little longer to warm, but it cooks beautiful eggs. Eggs will definitely stick if the pan and oil is not hot.

I have to agree with the other reviewers -- EGGS STICK! I preheat the pain. I add oil or butter. Nothing keeps those eggs from sticking. However, the pan is fabulous for everything else, particularly good for stir-frying. I'm tempted to get the 14" pan but don't think it would fit/cook properly on a regular stove.

I bought this pan and love it. It has the perfect slope to flip food. As far as the handle goes...well, that's another story. All-Clad quality is top notch but they fall short on the handle design. The handle does stay unbelievably cool, but it's dam uncomfortable. I compensated for it being so narrow by purchasing a suede handle cover. I still rate it a five though.

I have this and several other all-clad stainless pans. For anyone looking to purchase a stainless pan and move away from teflon coated or lower quality cookware, all-clad stainless is a must. They are expensive, but well worth the cost.

Please note, there is a learning curve that comes with owning these type of products. If you're used to cooking with lower quality cookware like farberware or anything else you buy at Wal*Mart, you'll find yourself burning almost everything when you start using these pans. Because of the high-quality design and aluminum core, I've found that I needed to lower the temperature drastically to achieve the same results with the lesser pans. I'm still learning how to cook eggs without burning the bottom, but fortunately, with a short soaking in soapy water, the pans clean right up. Great for cooking crepes, sautes, meats, etc. With the all metal construction, they'll move easily to the oven as well. Read the literature that comes with the pans for tips on cooking with all-clad stainless.
