Love this giant pool! - Review written on August 16, 2008

My family and I love this pool! It is huge! We put it on our lawn and drain it onto the grass every three days, scrub it out and fill it again and repeat. So far it seems durable enough. It is making summer time out in the hot desert bearable.

I bought this for my 4 year old grandson. He likes it when the neighbor kids (ages 4 and 7) get in with him and play on inflatable rings. They have a great time. It's also long enough for an adult to lay on a raft to suntan...but the kid never get out..hhhmmmmm
The only thing I found I didn't like.... there is only one drain plug and it takes forever to empty. All in all it is a nice pool... No leaks so far. Kids love it.

Very high quality for the price. If you use a hand punp to blow it up plan on 20 minutes and lots of exercise. I use the exhaust of a hand held wet or dry vacuum and it blows it up in less then a minute. When finished you can water your yard with the water.

This pool is great--we get a new one every-other year, but it's so affordable....
Listen, here's the scoop on cleaning this pool. I've done this 100's times over the years and it's super easy. Takes me 10 minutes, tops. Just open the three valves on the side to deflate and the water will fly out. Then reinflate with the reverse port on your vacuum cleaner--takes 20 seconds in each opening. Now you have an inflated, but dirty pool which is simple to rinse out. Then fill with water and put a dixie cup worth of bleach in the pool when you first fill it--doesn't bother skin, keeps fresher longer, and is much easier to clean when the time comes again.
Bigger than it Looks - Review written on June 20, 2008

This pool is bigger then it looks. I only fill it up 1/4th of the way cause i have a 3 year old and a two year old as well as a 6 year old. They put it to the test this week..and it is durable, and lots of room for more kids plus two adults. It will be a really awesome pool when i am able to fill it up the whole....one day..... This is definantly worth the money although shipping was a bit pricy. Oh make sure your kids can climb over it saftly, get a air pump, pool cover, and aqua chem for small kiddie pools of 200-1000 gallons so you dont have to dump water often.

I bought this for our three-year old son, and he absolutely loves it. He took swimming lessons last year just to get familiarized with water and "learn" the basics, but this year when we took him to the pool he was scared and didn't really want to let go of us in the water. Well he took to it like a duck to water (ha ha). It's shallow enough that he doesn't get scared, and big enough that he can splash around and scoop and kick. It's also big enough that my wife and I can lounge in one end while he plays around the pool. The pool itself is very well made and feels sturdy leaning against it.

I got a 120"x72" cover with drawstring to fit over it at the local K-Mart for $10, and placed an extra-thick tarp under it to protect it from things poking up from ground.

I also bought an Intec electric pump to fill it up, but didn't realize that it was a rechargeable unit that had to be charged up from the household AC wall outlet for 10 hours (!) first. Luckily I had a $10 foot pump unit and it inflated the pool in no time (I may just be out of shape, but it took quite a bit of effort! But just to note, it is possible to inflate the pool without using an electric pump, contrary to some other reviewers' notes).

The drain plug is in a corner at the bottom of the pool, and at first, when I tried to drain it, it wouldn't work, because of the water pressure holding the drain hole flat against the ground under it. Let me tell you, the idea of using a bucket to empty out 1,000 gallons didn't sound too appealing! But then I came up with a super easy solution. Simply use a foot or so long PVC pipe (no wider than an inch). Either file down smooth the edges on one end, or do what I did, wrap some electric tape around one end with about 1/8" of tape hanging over the end. Then gently slide the PVC pipe under the pool to where the drain hole is, and voilà! the pool will drain by itself. Because of the shape of the bottom of the pool, even when the pool won't drain any further, there's still a bit of water left at the bottom that needs to be scooped out.

We're very much looking forward to getting a good use out of this pool during the summer, and when the weather gets a bit cooler, will be turning this into a ball pit. For $30, this is an excellent purchase. Highly recommended!

We usually buy one a year. They either break or get full of mold by the end of the summer. These pools dont last more than one season but its worth it while we have it and its not a major investment. Big enough for quite a few kids and safe enough that its not too deep...I only wish that they would make a cover for it so that I dont have to refill it every time.

This is probably the largest pool I would want to get w/o a pump. The only problem with it is if the air is not 100% sealed, it will leak. My daughters (7 & 5) love to play in this pool when I can't get them to the neighborhood pool and they just want to cool off.

Great little pool for young kids - Review written on August 03, 2006

My parents bought this pool for a big summer party they had, and a ton of kids used it (I'd estimate 20 kids, mostly under 7 years, in and out of it all day). Then I took it home and set up for my daughter's 5th birthday, which saw 8 kids jumping, swimming and spalshing in it. And we've used it daily since then (all summer). It did have a small pin-hole after the first use that probably happened in moving it to our house (in the back of the truck), but was easily patched with clear Liquid Nails. We haven't had any trouble with deflating, collapsing, leaking, etc. since then.

It is a pain to drain the water because the weight of the full pool keeps water from getting out of the small drain hole on the bottom (we've tried on the grass and on the driveway - even overnight the thing is still full). I have to let the air out of the top 2 rings to get the water out. But we bought a large bicyle-type pump (in the pool section of ToysRUs) which works ok - air compressor would be better.

It does get dirty - particularly with our hard water. So even with a cover and chlorine I have to dump the water every few days. It would be nice to have a filter, but then again - it's only a $30 pool. I give the kids a butterfly net and have them get the grass out when they are playing in the pool.

The kids absolutely love it (I have 3 obnoxious little monsters, 3, 5 & 7 years) and they give it a pretty strenuous workout every day. It's held up well and will hopefully still be useable for next year. On the REALLY hot days, I even get in with them, and I can see why they love it. They can really swim in it, rather than "wade" like they did in the little plastic one.

It won't compare to the easy-set type pools with filters etc., but it's a great kiddie-pool. I plan to have this pool or one like it for at least a few more years.

We loved this pool for three weeks, which is as long as we had it. This morning, I went out to remove a small amount of rain water from the cover to find that the cover with roughly 1/4" of rain had collapsed the top tier and that we had grass growing up through the bottom of the pool, through plastic. I could see both happening had the pool sat in one place for a long period of time but this was after less than 24 hours. A total waste of money.

We have bought one of these pools every summer for the past two years and we are about to buy another. It's a great pool for the money. They always get a leak that is very hard to find. But because the price is relatively low it is easy to replace every summer. We enjoy this pool but it is getting a little old having to nuy a new one every summer
Chlorine and this pool - Review written on May 23, 2006

In response to KITARA - 8/2003
You cannot use the Derby Duck/chlorine tablets with this pool.
I checked with a major pool supplier in my area and he said that this is TOO STRONG and would not work because without a pump it would not circulate the chlorine. The pool is 120x72x & about 2 ft deep = 1000 gallons. He recommended a small container of "Stablizer Chlorine Powder" and after the first days use, sprinkle 1/4 cup or less & let stay overnite.
However, the water must be replaced once a week.
Do not mess with chemicals unless you are a proffesional.
I also reccomend buying 2 pool covers - one for the bottom to prevent puncture. The good small electric pump will fill it fast.
If you loose one of the 3 chamber caps - a plastic jar cap will suffice.
When storing for the winter - pack carefully.
It lasts about 2-4 yrs and is good enough for 4-6 adults.

We bought this pool originally to incorporate with my daughter's 6th birthday party. she along with 6 other girls had a ball. The next summer my 3 kids (2 of which were 3)played in it daily. I will admit it is a pain having empty and refill the pool and it did develop a hole which i'm not surprised since it was used so often. It is a great option when you have small ones. This summer we going with a big pool.

This pool is great for little kids, however, after one use, we had a hole in the top tube! That is very disappointing considering this is the third pool that we have bought in 3 years (all the same type of pool)! So they definitely don't make them very durable. This will be the last one we purchase!

This pool met our expectations....we bought it for our 2 year old and 4 year old to jump around in as their "kiddie" pool was too small and got boring very quickly for them. This is a great sized pool and is perfect for the kids to really play around in. We filled ours only to what we were comfortable with for the kids swim levels and made sure that it was empty when the kids played in the backyard unsupervised (the cover is only a cover and can be dangerous unsupervised). Also, since we dumped the water frequently, it hasn't killed our lawn which is something I was concerned with. I'd reccommend this pool to anyone who typically uses a baby pool for their kids and wants something alittle more exciting for them to play in. Several kids would have plenty of room in it. It's a great way to beat the heat and at around $30 it's very inexpensive!

where do I get plugs and caps? my pool has 3 rings, and it only came with one set of plugs and caps. I am using one set from an old discarded pool....so it is up but not much fun...
also, the ordering information should state that it does not come with a pump, and what type is needed.

WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS POOL. I WAS SKEPTICAL WHEN I BOUGHT IT, BUT I LOVE IT. WE BLEW IT UP IN ABOUT AN HOUR AND WE EMPTY AND FILL IT EACH DAY SO WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH DIRT OR BUILD UP (TAKES ABOUT 45 MIN TO FILL). THIS WAY WE DONT HARM OUR LAWN EITHER. ITS DURABLE, AND GREAT FOR MY PREGNANT SELF AND 18 MONTH OLD SON. WE HAVE HOURS OF FUN EACH DAY!!! IT WAS THE BEST $$$ I EVER SPENT.

We have owned two versions of this particular pool made by Intex. The first had an inflatable bottom which was wonderful! The pool was durable, held up very well through two families. I sold this particular model, but wish I would have kept it as the inflabtable bottom is fantastic! The second model is the same size with the exclusion of the inflatable bottom. We have had this particular model for two years but have noticed that the bottom ring is deflating. We have checked for leaks only to find that the leak is in the valve stem itself. In response to the inquiries about a cover for this particular model, do what our neighbor has done: purchase a king size fitted matress cover and pop it over the top of the pool. Viola! No more bugs, grass, sand, dirt in your pool! This is a great pool for those hot summer days and having fun in the sun!

Don't expect this pool to do your family for many years. It will only last one, but for the price, that's OK. It is great for little kids just to splash around and cool off.

My suggestion is to put it somewhere where you WANT to kill the grass, because it will. Plan on cleaning it at least once a week with bathroom cleaner and a scrub brush; otherwise it will get very scrummy very quickly.

This is a great pool if love buying it over and over again. We've had fun buying it 4 times in 2 summers. Our latest only lasted about 2 months and these definately will not make it from season to season. Too bad. My kids love it so much they have purchased 2 pools with their own money because I refused to continue to buy a product with such poor durability. I give it a thumbs down.

I loved the pool. It was big enough for me to get in with my grandson who is only four. I didn't completely fill the pool so there wasn't too much water for his size--and I was in too. There was enough room and water for him to use a little swim ring to float around and plenty of room to play.

However, there should be a sign on the pool box that reads THIS POOL MUST BE INFLATED WITH AN ELECTRIC PUMP!!!!! I tried everything to get air in. I tried for hours! I made two trips to the hardware store carrying the pool box with me. I bought a bicycle pump and then went back and bought an attachment. Nothing worked. I had to go to WalMart--out of the way from where I live--and buy an electric pump. I wanted it inflated and ready when he came to visit and I wasn't expecting not to be able to use a bicycle pump or ME to blow it up. I didn't have it ready for him and that was disappointing. If I KNEW what to expect, then I could have planned better.

One thing I did which was good was to buy a piece of carpet pad the size of the pool to put underneath. Since I had the pool in my driveway, this was a great thing.

Suggestion - set this pool on a bed of foam padded mats (the 2-foot square ones you piece together) - feels much better on the feet and was better for kids falls & jumps. We got this pool last summer & immediately had puncture problems. We couldn't find the holes, so had to blow up the top tier every other day. Now the middle tier is deflating too, so we have to go get another kind of pool. With a cover & chemicals, it stays clean and is fun, but the punctures ruined it for us.

This pool is so cool I would definatly recomand it. The only thing is don't let it be in hail. It will get ruined. Trust Me. I bought this pool with my own money 4 years ago.I am 11 years old now It wasn't very small at all. I was 7 and my best friend was 7 and our babysitter was 17. We all Fit in it and had room to swim. I would definatly recomand this toy to anyone (especially anyone with children ages 4-9) The reason we had to get rid of it was because We had a tornado one night and the pool popped by the hail coming down. We dicided to get a 14'by 40" pool about 1 year ago after the pool popped. The set-up was really easy set and only took about 1hour 30 min.-2hours to set up. The price was really good and super good quality. Also can be used just for cooling off in the summer. Anyone with children, not much money, and needing a pool, GET THIS ONE!!!!!!
Thanks hoped I helped you pick out a pool

(...) We've only had this pool for a couple of weeks but my kids have used it everyday. They are 4 and 5 and have spent hours jumping in landing on the sides of the pool and having water fights.

Set up of the pool took me less than 10 minutes. I used my bouce around fan to fiil the air chambers about 90 percent full. This took about 5 seconds each chamber. Then I finished it with a regular hand pump. The water filled up in just about 20 minutes. The water goes to a little over a foot high, but it's still big enough and deep enough for my kids to use floaties and snorkels etc. "Knock on wood" We haven't had any holes, leaks or anything like that.

I gave it a five for educational value because I have put funnels, sieves, measuring cups etc. in the pool for my kids to become "water chemist"

If you're looking for a pool that requires little maintainence, that can be drained and refilled on a daily basis, and is durable and inexpensive, this may be the pool for you.

We purchased this pool last summer for my then 1 yr old to enjoy. It is large enough that I can lay in the pool and be able to play with her. Now being she is a two year old and more destructive we have not had any problems. She does belly flops and has enough room to play with an air mattress and floats. I do however recommend getting some above ground chemicals to keep clean. We use those weekly and also purchased the kiddie pool vacuum, it is helpful to get bugs and grass out, along with you are filling up the pool at the same time. This is a great pool for families with smaller children. I am able to have my 3 month old be with us at the same time.

We have had this pool for two summers now. My five year old son and his friend have spent hours and hours playing and jumping into this pool. We put a small slide going into it and they have a blast. It takes just minutes to blow up with a small compressor and is easy to store over the winter. The down side is that we have to empty and clean it every other time we fill it because it gets so dirty. We also have to add warm water to it every time because it would be too cold to use otherwise. It is getting a little small for our five year old but it has served it's purpose well.
