This item even at a price a few dollars from 'list', is just twaddle. Yes you put it over your reheated take outs. It's just a single piece of plastic with a hole on top. If you buy a cake, something similar is often included free. And local, NYC, chinese take-outs offer similar lids gratis. A dozen things around will offer the same modest help in the micro. Also it retains the *smell*, yes, even after a sudsy soak. Save your $7+. My first negative review. I don't offer my opinions lightly.

I still not sure about the usefulness of this thing.

One of the main reasons you use this is to prevent your microwave from getting dirty from splattering when you heat your food. Which mean you have to clean this cover instead. Better solution than cleaning the oven itself. But still I find it more convenient to just cover the food with a paper towel. You don't have to clean the paper towel, you just throw it away afterwards.

It is not a one-fits all solution. Sometimes it is not tall enough.

It could have been better if the handle is a knob instead of a hole. The steam can be a bit of a surprise when you get a little careless.

Ours has not cracked yet. I guess that is an indication how very few times it has been used in the household.

The only down fall to this product I've found using it, is that the hole on top is a little bigger than it should be, because it lets food come out while it's heating up in the microwave. Art Shields

We've had this plate cover for a few weeks. We bought it to replace the Pampered Chef cover we had been using for years. The old one was more pliable; this one is a very hard plastic. I'm not sure how long it will last before it cracks.

Our old cover was a little bigger and fit over the plate better. This one fits the plate, but barely.

I would still buy it.

Works very well and is dishwasher safe. This product was not expensive and it's very well made.

I needed a new one & didn't feel like going to the store....just happened to come across this item as I was making another purchase. It was $7 & change. This cover is plastic & well made.

I use this almost every time I microwave now. Much better than wax paper and easy to wipe down & clean.

Not only is it so much better to the enviroment than using plastic wrap or paper towels but the item being microwaved comes out much more pleasing to the tastebuds! Anything doughy especially. Instead of rubber - it's much more like it would be out of the oven minus the crust. And my microwave has never stayed so clean for so long!

Great thing to have. I no longer need to cover items with paper towels, or plastic that often contacts the food I'm heating!
My sister had one of these and I loved it at her house so I went looking for one.

I didn't realize from the picture that all there was on top was a hole. So you can get a nice steam scalding lifting this cover off hot microwave food. If that seems extreme it is just a really tacky design to have no handle or indents (like other versions of this idea).

Excellent product compare to other types I had in past. I wish they had this product made little bit bigger for home usage. This can be used with smaller containers.

This cover is great, only concern is the hole in the top that I use to help get it off the plate it's covering, steam vent can burn you. BE CAREFUL but I LOVE IT!

Great micro cover - better quality than the ones you can get at bed bath and beyond. They tend to crack after prolonged use (3-4 years) - but well worth it!

great item...no more mess in the microwave. Be careful when taking the cover off after heating things, frequently a lot of steam is realeased and often the lid is quite warm.

Anything that helps keep something clean is a winner in my book. The plate cover is large enough to fit most items put in the microwave. I just love it.

Not long after purchase, cracks started to appear...more and more...eventually broke completely apart. Loved it while it lasted (less than a year).

Does the job of keeping the microwave tidy. My one complaint about it is the hole in the middle of the cover (to make pick up of the cover with a finger easily). Would have preferred a groove or small bar, like a handle so that the food doesn't splatter out of the finger hole. I guess the hole serves as a vent as well... Always room for improvement!

This is a nice sturdy cover, not like a lot of it's soft plastic counterparts. It is transparent as well. It is easy to clean, because it is sturdy. A nice thing about this cover, is it is stackable. You can warm two plates of food, at one time, which is an added convenience. The vent on the plate cover on the bottom, will have the vent hole closed by the plate, you placed on top. Take this into consideration, when selecting which food to place on the bottom of the microwave and which food to place in the top plate. The cover is a nice size, it fits over dinner plates nicely and is high enough to not press on the food on the plate.

The Nordic Ware microwave plate cover works as expected. It seems to be the perfect size for the width of my plates but the height could be raised a couple more inches since a lot of the time my food touches the top on the inside and then I have to constantly clean the microwave plate cover instead of the microwave which is why it was purchased in the first place. I have stuck it in the dishwasher multiple times and it seems to hold up well.

I purchased this because it looked like an interesting concept and the price was right. This was a very well made purchase. It fights over all of my plates. It prevents any platter in my microwave, and I no longer need to use paper towels when microwaving foods.

I have this splatter shield and for a long time I thought I was keeping the microwave clean. Well, what I didn't know until recently was that I was keeping ONLY the microwave clean, not my body, nor the health of my family. This plate cover is made with the hard plastic which, unfortunatelly hasn't been banned from many kitchen-related items, including baby bottles, of all things! There's been lots of articles and research published so far on the exposure to BPA chemicals (Bisphenol-A, the building block of polycarbonate.) I would be very very cautious before buying something that will be in contact with my food. BPA chemicals are easy to spot, it's the one with the recycling number "7" inside the little triangle. *** Whereas I can't protect myself and my kids from all the nasty environmental pollutants (and carcinogens)in the community, at least I can make appropriate choices in what I eat, how I cook my food and what I put in my kitchen. So, I wouldn't buy this product to myself, nor to a friend. I would try to find a plate cover made with safer/softer plastic materials (i.e., numbers 1, 2, 4 or 5 inside the triangle).

Works great and keeps the microwave clean. Seems to help heat the food better too. Fits perfectly around my dinner plates.

I was very glad to see this offered on Amazon and at such a great price! I hadn't seen one of these in 20 years and had completely forgotten about this neat little cover. My microwave plate cover shipped out immediately and arrived in perfect condition. I tried it over my Oneida casual dinnerware and it fit perfectly, although it was just a fraction of an inch short of covering my China. It also fit perfectly over my bowls, although my bowls are wide and deep.

My family does a terrible job of covering their food in the microwave and I often have to scrub it clean to get the dried, splattered pasta off the top and sides of our microwave. This convenient cover washes up nicely in the dishwasher and stores in the microwave for the next user, while my microwave stays clean!

I purchased this for use in my camper. It seems great and has worked well when I have used it.

My wife loves it since it stops the splatter in the microwave and I think it does help in heating up leftovers.

This cover is convenient, easy to use, works great, just be warned that
when picking it up, steam from food exits top opening, so be careful!

I was apprehensive about ordering this product on-line since I have ordered similar items and been very disappointed with the size and quality. I am very, very pleased with this product and have recommended it to my family members and friends. The material quality is excellent and the height makes it easy to cover food that sits high on a plate.

I love these things! You microwave stays clean, your food reheats without drying out or getting too wet (as it does with Saran Wrap, which you shouldn't use due to chemicals dripping onto your food). It cleans easily and is dishwasher safe.

The product works great. 4 star because my preference of material for a cover is soft plastic. This one's made of hard plastic and isn't as light for handling. Not a big deal though as it does its job just fine.

Fits over my Whirlpool microwave's turntable perfectly! No more messy microwave! Plus my food is not all dried out when I have to microwave it for longer periods of time. Very easy to clean and seems sturdy. Don't think I'll torture it in the dishwasher though, nothing really seems to stick to it besides cheese and even then the steam buildup makes cleanup a snap. Every microwave should come with one of these. You can't go wrong here folks.

Fits a regulary sized plate perfectly. Does what its supposed to do. If you need to see the food cooking the tint on the cover may not work for you. I basically use this for warming up already cooked food.
