Not what I thought they were! - Review written on November 09, 2007

I guess I should have read the printed description better. When I saw these on Amazon they appeared to be more of a splash cover for the Kitchenaid stand mixer bowls, the image appeared to have a hole in the center, thus I thought it would be like the bowl cover for my hand mixer bowl I ordered through the Pampered Chef. I thought the lid could be placed on the bowl and the beater could go through the center hole and thus prevent splashing. No such luck, no hole in the middle and even if I adapted it and cut the plastic away from the indented center, the blade would not turn as it should. So now I have lids to put on the bowl to keep dirt and dust out!

I love this cover for my mixer. Keeps all of the dust out of the container and also makes it easy to save without transferring to another container.

I was pleased with this product. I didn't give it a 5 star only because the lid did not fit tightly. It was not loose either, just enough to make it work. It is great to keep the dust out and to store cookie dough in the frig to cool.

These lids are great to use on the bowl when it's not being used (to keep dust out) and also to store in the fridge when you've mixed something. It beats using plastic wrap!

Product did not fit my 5 quart mixer bowls. However, I am stuck with them because you are unable to return opened items. I am not sure how one is to know whether an item fits or not without opening it. Have learned a lesson about purchasing items online. Will try to find in stores from now on.
WATCH FOR MILDEW, but otherwise wonderful! - Review written on February 01, 2006

This is a great lid that seals the bowl with the attachments inside. But I recently opened it up after not using it for awhile and I discovered everything covered in mildew. I guess I put the attachments in the bowl with some moisture on them and since the lid creates a tight seal, I was greeted with mildew. I would suggest leaving it slightly open or making sure that there is NO MOISTURE inside when you seal it. Otherwise, this is a great way to seal everything up against dust and dirt while not in use.

I even checked with KitchenAid about which ones were correct for our mixer and they apparently gave us the wrong code. I join everyone here - why can't they make standard bowl covers? This is crazy!

The bowl covers are a great idea unfortunately for me I have an Artisan mixer and these bowl covers do not fit. According to KitchenAid Customer Service these are for a discontinued bowl the correct model number for the current 5qt bowl is KNBC.

I have a white Kitchenaid Heavy Duty 5 quart mixer with an extra bowl and attachments. The covers fit exactly as designed, nice and secure. These covers are extra convenient when letting yeast rise. They are very handy in covering your attachments keeping dust and other particles out during storage. I recently ordered a new Kitchenaid 6 quart Empire Red mixer that I am surely in process of ordering bowl covers for this fine machine, also!

I see that other reviewers had the same problem I did with the lids not fitting. The problem is that you ordered the right part number but amazon sent the wrong part number. The bag the lids come in is used for 2 different part numbers (KBC5N and KBC90N).
I had ordered the KBC5N but the bag was marked with and X for the KBC90N. I returned it and the replacement was the same way.
I bet the warehouse has the wrong part in the wrong bin.

I think when the right lid is used they will be nice.

Be warned! They do NOT fit securely over all 5qt bowls! - Review written on March 02, 2004

I have a Kitchenaid model K5SSWH Heavy Duty Mixer and they do not fit over my 5 qt bowl. I regrettably only read the editorial review and bought these covers thinking I can snap them on. I use them to loosely cover my attachments now, but I could have used anything for that.

I got these as a wedding gift, because I put them on my Amazon registry. I didn't read the reviews, because who'd bother - it's Kitchenaid and it fits a 5-quart bowl? I just opened them today and found out they don't fit my mixer, and now I'm stuck with them. Hoping to pawn them off on my best friend since she has an older Kitchenaid. Grrrrrr. Crappy idea on Kitchenaid's part, crappy idea on Amazon's part for saying they fit ALL 5-quart bowls when they obviously do not.

I didn't buy this for food storage - I bought it so I could keep my attachments inside the mixer bowl on the counter without them getting covered with grease and coffee grounds. For that purpose, these lids are perfect.

The center well looks odd, but it's just the right depth to clear the mixer shaft when the lid is on the bowl on the mixer, and just the right width to allow two covered bowls to be stacked and stay stable.

The lids lost a star because I washed one of them in a little too hot water in the dishwasher (on the bottom rack), and it shrunk slightly. It still goes on the bowl, but it strains to fit.

As Shannon says, Kitchenaid mixer bowl covers are terrific for storing food and attachments. But be warned: these particular covers may not fit your mixer bowl! I purchased a new Artisan mixer & ordered these to go along with it, but they are too small. They do not fit the Artisan or KSM90 mixer bowls. Models they fit are KBC5N, K5SS, & KSM5 only.

I have had my KitchenAid 5 quart mixer for a little over 2 years now. I have enjoyed every minute of it! In fact, I got it for Christmas and my husband was concerned because I had told him a few years back that "Anything with a chord attached was NOT a present". I have since eaten every word of that comment. Getting a KitchenAid is like getting a Diamond. Especially a 5 quart Mixer. I have a growing family of Boys and they all LOVE Pizza, homemade bread, and muffins. All of these are very easy to make using my Kitchen Aid. One of the problems I have had is the many bowls I use to Rise my dough! These lids enable me to simply mix my dough, knead it (using the mixer of course) and then simply put the lid on and let it rise! It also keeps my attachments conveniently hidden within the bowl so that I am able to get to them at any time I need them. I am also a person that will NOT use anything that won't go into the dishwasher. These withstand a Great amount of abuse! I have used them MANY times within the dishwasher and they have withstood the upper rack as WELL as the lower rack! This is definately a 5 star product!
