I use a lot of Fiskars gardening tools and these are the best small pruners I have found. My last pair lasted over 3 years.
Great pruning snips for herb gardens. - Review written on February 09, 2008

I ordered these pruning snips to use with my herb garden based on the small size of the cutting tip and the price.

Pros:
1. Small cutting tip works great for getting in between different plants.
2. Small size is comfortable in hand.
3. Symmetrical, so it doesn't matter which way you pick it up to use.
4. Well placed and easy to use switch - accessible from both sides.
5. Spring loaded.
6. Safety cap easy to put on/take off.

Cons:
None yet.

Periodically add a light coat of oil to the cutting tip to keep rust from forming. I have not seen any rust on my snips, but a little preventive maintenance is always good. Since I use my snips for herbs, I use vegetable oil.

The Fiskars Micro-tip pruner is super for "buds off" when too many on peach limb, great for the apples they bud in groups of 5 and for snipping
veggies and herbs...

These Fiskars pruner are so easy to use when doing floral arrangements. They do not easily cut thick stems (like roses) but are great with carnations, mums, etc.

Received these small, light snippers by Fiskars as a gift years ago, and would have never guessed that they would still be serviceable years later. They have proven to be far more rugged than expected, and though showing their age now, the stainless steel blades have maintained a surprising amount of sharpness.

Must note that it's the handles of these things that are the best part. The cushioned grips are more ergonomic and better designed for comfort than so many gardening snippers and cutters. Add to that, they're actually ambidextrous... left-handed people who pick up mine are amazed how well they fit the hand. And the blades have a convenient lock, one that actually works.

Have never had small snippers last as long as these. Will probably have to replace them in the next year or so, but as they've been so reliable and since the price is so good, won't even think twice about it. Giving them 5-stars for quality, versatility, longevity and price.

This small pruner is ideal for pruning small plants, where the larger pruner might be unwieldy. Particularly useful for the constant dead-heading necessary to keep flowering plants at their best. Love it!

One of Frisker's best - if not their best - the slightly bevelled point makes for precision cutting - the blade is quite solid and the instrument - as with all Frisker cutters - is solidly machined. Thus, beyond standard pruning applications, I use these in the field to cut twine and narrow guaged rope, string, etc. They are useful when you need to first incise and then make a fine cut with some power. They are excellent for salad preparation in the kitchen - great for use with greens and vegetables - I carry them in my backpack for the above purposes and more when on the trail - they're quite useful for gear repair. The saftey cap provided is another super feature - and I keep them sheathed on top of that. One wishes Gerber, Leatherman and the other multi-tool makers would get hip to the substantial, yet refined blade design of this first-rate tool.

Fiskars Pruning Snips. Great for my use in small trimming of plants. Had a pair several years ago and wanted more. Finally decided to try Friskars on the internet and lo. These are great snips for a nursery for either pruning or cuttings.
Precision Deadheading Tool, But Don't Push it! - Review written on September 23, 2007

I always have this tool on me when I'm in the yard. It's perfect for dead heading dense flowering plant without accidentally snipping the neighboring blooms. It has a very sharp and strong blade so you can cut only using the very tip of the sheer. Because the point is so narrow and sharp, it comes with a orange rubber sheath to protect the blade while it's in your pocket.

My only gripe with this tool is the flimsy orange clasp which breaks off very easily if you are not careful. I've owned several copies of these sheers and I've manage to break off the clasp on all three of them by clipping branches a little larger than recommended. Fortunately, the orange sheath keeps the blades closed, assuming you don't loose it.

Haven't tried them yet, but would suggest instead of black handles, colored handles, so if you lose them they are easy to find!

I had purchased my first pair of Fiskars 99216981 Softouch Micro-Tip Floral Snips a couple of years ago at a local store (but I didn't pay much attention to the name at that time). I really liked the fine point and sharp cutting capability of this snip. Deadheading spent blooms was a breeze and the fine point allowed me to make precision cuts. This snip has an easy grip with a light tension, so it doesn't tire your hand like some of the bulkier pruners that I have tried. A few months ago, I had misplaced my snips and couldn't find them anywhere. I checked the local store where I had purchased the first pair and they didn't have them anymore. In fact, I couldn't remember the brand name at that time, but I will remember it now (Fiskars - it's no wonder that they were so sharp). I searched the internet for "snips" and "pruners" and eventually saw the picture on Amazon.com. Not only did they have the snips that I had been looking for, they offered them at a really good price. I am delighted to once again have a pair of these wonderful Fiscars Softouch Micro-Tip Floral snips.
perfect for small or delicate tasks - Review written on October 01, 2006

Some other reviewers have complained that this tool is not good enough for certain jobs, but from their descriptions, it just goes to show that you need to use the right tool for the right job. For cutting wire or pruning boughs, one would not use these snips (though I would heartily recommend the Fiskars lopper for the latter). I am constantly reaching for these snips, however, when deadheading, pruning tender plants, and taking cuttings for propagation. I want something sharp, precise, and handy for those tasks, and secateurs or pruning shears would either be too cumbersome or would not have the cutting action required. Well worth having, in this gardener's opinion.

The first time I used these pruning snips I tried to cut a branch the size of pencil and the handle broke. They were really not worth fooling with so I throwed them in the garbage. If you buy any pruning snips be sure you get the heavy duty ones. The handles on these snips are plastic. Take my advice they're not worth what it costs to ship them.
Lightweight tool for light jobs - Review written on July 25, 2006

This snip tool is ok for very light jobs (e.g. flower arranging, small houseplants, etc.) It is just too flimsy for cutting wire, cardboard, or what I purchased it for- tennis racquet string. For that, you need to go up to the Fiskars Multi-Snip or similar middleweight cutting tool. I did like the spring tension, which is fine for repetitive cutting action.

This is not as good as a bigger pruning snipper. It feels small in your hand. I wish there was a place to put the tip cover when in use.

This is the 2nd pair I've owned and these little snips last. The first pair lasted 5 years and are still in use. They're used daily at the garden center where I work and are the favorite tool of all my co-workers. The snips are durable enough to trim everything from bedding plants to hanging baskets to shrubs (butterfly bushes) yet light and responsive enough to be easily handled by those of us with joint problems. The Fiskars small size makes it easy to trim out even the most densely overgrown plants and make deadheading Petunias a breeze. I've tried other snips by various manufacturers and none have worked as well as these. The others have been too bulky, too heavy, too large for delicate trims and/or too tight in the hinge to be used comfortably. Over all the Fiskars Micro-snips are the perfect tool to clean up both houseplants and garden beds.

And then went out and replaced them immediately. Say goodbye to aching hands and wrists, and to blisters from those rubbing scissor handles. These little snips work effortlessly and come in handy for so many things it's tempting to toss the regular scissors away.

I received my pair of snips in a combination package, so I wasn't looking for them in particular. However, they have been irreplaceable in my herb garden...to cut leaves off the plant in the garden, then to take them with me to the kitchen to snip them for recipes!

This product was featured as Pruning Snips. When the package arrived, it was called "Floral Snip". It is the size of children's scissors and nowhere on the packaging is "Pruning" mentioned. Rather, "deadheading flowers", "flower gathering" and "houseplant care". I have returned them because I wanted pruning shears for my garden work. These were completely inappropriate for that task.

When my sister gave me these snippers, my first reaction was that they were too lightweight to be useful. Was I wrong! I grow a lot of roses, and this tool has become invaluable for deadheading. It's also great for cutting daffodils, tulips and narcissus for floral arrangements. It's light enough for me to carry whenever I walk around the garden. Don't be tempted to cut any woody stems; it's strictly designed for deadheading and pliable green stems.

I love my micro tip, and I use it every day for deadheading and cutting flowers. I used to deadhead my flowers with my fingers, and get green stuff under my fingernails (ugh!). I was right when I thought this would fill a void in my garden tool collection. The tip is very sharp, and it is very comfortable. It has an easy to use lock, which is handy to have around children.
