Great Multi-Tasking Kitchen Appliance for those on a Budget - Review written on April 11, 2008
Rating: 4 out of 5
As an avid at home cook who can't afford a Kitchen Aid Mixer and Food Processor nor have the room for them, this has helped me get by...this along with some elbow grease of course. Considering the size, it's pretty powerful, but not powerful enough for breads and cookie dough. I do those by hand as the motor isn't strong enough and the fairly thin whisk doesn't stand a chance.
If you're considering buying a hand blender, I recommend buying this one, as you'll find the attachments quite useful. I love the whisk and chopping attachments!!! I actually landed up using those attachment more often than the hand blender...Fresh whipped cream for my pancakes in a flash!
I LOVE this thing for tons of reasons, so I'll instead list the things I found it CAN'T do...
-Grind small seeds like flax seed
-Mix cookie or bread doughs (whisk is not strong/solid enough)
-Chop Ice (it can handle frozen berries for smoothies, but not ice...the ice lands up in chunks)
Things I regularly use it for...
salad dressings, mincing garlic, smoothies, puree whole tomatoes, grate Parmesano Regiano, make bread/cracker crumbs, egg salad, whipped cream, most cake batters, grind woody herbs like rosemary, make fresh peanut butter, puree soups, etc.
