This is an excellent tool to have on the job. It is perfect when adding nailers for drywall when all you have is the bad left over studs. Also good for straightening studs that have moved or twisted since you framed up the project, not a tool you use a ton but needed when it comes right down to it, very handy!

A simple, but well made tool, that helps in coaxing stubborn, twisted lumber into place. Helps to keep hands out of the line of fire when using nail guns. Can be used as a prybar and for pulling nails also. Very Handy

I purchased the Tweaker while building a wall in my home. Although I carefully selected the lumber for this project, several 2x4s had a twist in them. I fastened one end of the stud and used the Tweaker to align the outher end before fastening. I use a pneumatic nailer and I was able to align the stud with one hand while fastening it with the other.

This is a very simple tool that makes you say "Why didn't I think of that". I initially thought the handle would be too short to get sufficient leverage, but it work adequately as designed. I would recommend this tool for anyone who does framing carpentry.

I've used the Tweaker for 5 years. It works great with twisted lumber. It's tough enough I've even used it as a temporary hammer. I wouldn't want to build a deck without it.

it worked ok. the short part of the claw i think was too short. you really don't get the good enough hold on the plank that needs to be straigthen.

on my project for building my deck i was not very happy with the Tweaker.

great tool ! Its one of those "i don't know how i did with out it" tools. Does exactly what it says. Great for those studs that are twisted. You can hold and twist the stud, while keeping your hand at a safe distance while you nail it off. Makes work safer and easier.

I do production framing also called commerical rough framing. Everything has to be done very fast with no time for wasted effort. Ever cut wedges to separate two by 4's? Don't bother with this tool. All you need to do is pound it in till it gets a good bite and twist. A trick we learned from working on trucks is to fit a length of steel pipe over the end for incredible leverage. Also, no more pounding braces off, just twist and take braces of quicker and much safer. On some demo jobs I will walk in with only my Tweaker and take out wmost of the walls. If you frame houses or like taking them apart buy this tool.

I have a friend who lost his hand during a construction accident last summer. Well, he wasn't much of a friend...more of an aquaintence who would call you on the weekends and act like he knew you better than he did. Anyways, he lost his hand on my day off, so I only heard about the incident second-hand (no pun intended). Of course, it was weird for a couple weeks, but by the contractor's Christmas party that year, everyone thought it would be funny to buy him a gag gift, as is the tradition.

We decided to buy him the Mayhew 41500 TWEAKER, because it looks like a hand, and is also very handy (no pun intended.) Now, he actually uses it for a hand. He absolutely loves this unintended miracle. It's sort of a bittersweet feeling. On one hand, we're all really happy that he found a tool to replace his hand with. On the other hand, we're all sort of sad that our malicious scheme backfired on us. I may be weighing the outcome in my head for the rest of my life.

But all that said, I really recommend the Mayhew 41500 TWEAKER for its handiness. If a crippled, one-handed man can get all that use and love out of it, think of what you can do with two.

An awesome tool that does exactly what it says. Entirely recommended. You will get a lot of use out of this anytime you are framing.

I find the easiest way to use it is to nail the back side of the stud into place, then use the Tweaker to move the front side into alignment and nail it.

I used the tweaker the day I received it to build a deck I was working on, it really helped to straighten to joists before nailing. Simpy put the thing just works!

I've been looking for a tool like this for some time. Anyone who does house framing needs one of these. We've all had twisted lumber to deal with. This tool makes it very easy to straighten two by lumber. Highly recommended.

It's a very handy tool for building walls. Carrying it around all day in your tool belt is not a good idea. I just carry it when I know I will be using it a lot. This is an excellent candidate for titanium. I would recommend minor improvements in the contours of the nail grabbers.

While cleaning out the plastic plugs on a 50 panel tilt construction pour we decided to use the Tweaker to pull the half-round plastic out. It easily saved us 8 hours off a 16 hour job. None of the guys had ever seen a tool pop out the plug and clean up the concrete so fast. We clocked it at 30 seconds per plug. It paid for itself in 5 minutes.
Get two, mine walked away during lunch.
The perfect tool if you buy your studs at a home center. - Review written on June 26, 2003

Ever find yourself buying 20 to 30 studs at the home center? That means that I sort through 50 to 60 studs just to find ones that aren't way out of wack in the crown.
Well this doesn't solve the crown problem but what a great tool to take out the twists, simply secure one end with the nail gun and twist the other end before nailing.
I wish the tool balanced in the nail bag some way but for those of you who have two hammer hoops in your bags, well problem solved.
I find myself setting it on a sill or tossing it in a five gallon bucket at the ladder base to keep it handy.
The thing is not finely machined but does the job and gets to some nails the pry bar and the cat's paw don't.
I like it and it's not a fragile tool either. I often rely on the magnesium framing hammer for it's quick speed and devastating blow for those job site situations where disputes presents themselves:-) However this thing is substantial and looks intimidating. So weather you are trying to correct a mistake in your material or defending a work area because of the general contractor's inability to schedule crews, well this is the real thing:-)
Winter time in Seattle some times means a period of inactivity, so while I am rebuilding my first sawzall and sorting out the hand tools, I plan to do a little tossing with tool, the balancing feels as though it might make an excellent martial arts weapon:-)Although I haven't began my testing, the general feel leads me to believe it may penetrate a hard hat at 50 feet:-)

I purchased my first tweaker in a local hardware store several years ago. I used it during the remodeling of our home and found it very useful. Less than a year ago, someone broke into my garage and stole a large amount of my tools. One of the tools I could not find again locally and was unable to replace was the tweaker. I was very happy to find this tool on Amazon.com and ordered it right away. Thank you!

This is a great multi-purpose tool. When I first saw it, I knew that I had to have one, and I haven't been disappointed yet. The most useful application for me has been in concrete formwork. Quite often the lumber that we get on job sites is badly twisted, either from poor quality or exposure to the elements. The tweaker makes otherwise troublesome and/or useless lumber useful again. Also when forming tilt-wall panels or curbs with 2x material, this tool is a must have, and replaces bulky job-built devices that can only be used to "tweak" the boards, but do not have the added advantage of pulling nails also. Great buy.
