A great album for everyone! - Review written on November 10, 2007
Rating: 5 out of 5
Its a little over 8 years since the Backstreet Boys came out with Millennium. But the album is still considered a classic. In its first week, the album sold 1.4 million copies, a record for the time. Unbreakable, the Backstreet Boy's latest album, just came out and only sold 81,000 copies a week; I personally think it should have sold at least 300,000, it is a great album. But Millennium will always be the Boy's most popular album and I agree. From 1 to 10, here are my ratings on each song:
1) LARGER THAN LIFE- This song is an excellent pop rock dance song that incorporates superb vocals with exciting music- 10/10
2) I WANT IT THAT WAY- The most famous Backstreet Boys song ever and its one of my favorite songs, excellent vocals- 10/10
3) SHOW ME THE MEANING OF BEING LONELY- Extremely sad song and shows the Boy's maturity as a group, excellent instrumentation and vocals- 10/10
4) ITS GOTTA BE YOU- Not a bad song, but not up to par with the first 3 songs on the album, a good dance song- 8/10
5) I NEED YOU TONIGHT- All who sings here is Nick(except the ending), but he does a superb job with the song- 9/10
6) DON'T WANT YOU BACK- The group said they wanted this to be the 4th single, except Nick who picked The One, I think either would have done well- 9/10
7) DON'T WANNA LOSE YOU NOW- Great vocal performance from all the boys in this song, but its a little generic- 8/10
8) THE ONE- A great song, on par with Don't Want you Back and its good as a single. But its not on par with the first 3 singles- 9/10
9) BACK TO YOUR HEART- A lovely slow love song- 8/10
10) SPANISH EYES- My least favorite song on this album, but its still a competent song- 7/10
11) NO ONE ELSE COMES CLOSE- A slow paced song that has a good tune and vocals- 8/10
12) PERFECT FAN- Wonderful way to end this album, this song is about how much the Boy's love their mother's. I love this song because it shows how important your mother is to you- 10/10
CONCLUSION- Millennium is and will always be the Backstreet Boys best album. There current album, Unbreakable, comes close to Millennium's footsteps, but Millennium still wins in my book. In order, from best to worst is: Millennium,Unbreakable, Backstreet Boys, Never Gone, and Black & Blue. I give Millennium a 4.6 out of 5.

i had this CD for a long time now and yet it still manages to find its way back into my stereo system and ipod. more often than not, music gets old if you listen to it over and over again. however, this is not the case with this particular album. even tho i don't personally recommend it to heavy metal head bangers (except myself LOL)specifically, i do highly recommend it to everyone who appreaciates good music. don't discriminate against a particular genre of music just because it's that genre (whether it be punk, pop, rock, metal, international...). take time and listen to w/o being biased. you'll probably discover that it's quite listenable, quite good!
take this album by the bsb for example. it is composed of the perfect tunes and melodies that any artist could possibly accomplish making. it includes the song that virtually everyone knows -- i want it that way (whether u decide to admit it or not). not only that, it has many other wonderful ballads that are such great listens. My favorite one on the album is "no one else comes close" even though you really have to give credits to Joe. my second fave is "show me the meaning" because it talks about the reality of death and i personally, can relate to it on a certain mature level.
i hate the music played on radios these days. to me they're like cacophony. most of the artists can't sing live -- can't do anything live and it really sucks to see what the music industry is slowly becoming -- actually it's already shaped into something disgusting. however i can't do anything about it but to appreciate the music i think deserves more credit than some others.
MILLENNIUM is a great album, put aside the fact that it is by the backstreet boys and listen to it. you'll be surprised how good it actually is! bsb have grown up to be adults and they're continuing to release albums as they mature into their 30s and beyond. if you listen to their 2005 LP "never gone", you will notice a huge difference in sound, melody, and other areas.
try this album i don't think you'll regret it

OK, before we go any farther here, I want to point out something that I probably should've pointed out a long time ago. I'm 18 years old and I am still a Backstreet Boys fan. I have been listening to them since the later half of 1998 and I still listen to them today in 2006. These guys are one of my favorite singing groups (the Beach Boys happen to be my other favorite). I am going to try something different in this review... I am going to rate each song, just like I have seen other reviewers doing. So, here goes.
1. Larger Than Life- this is one of my favorites on this CD. Nick and Brian are my favorite Backstreet Boys by the way.
2. I Want it That Way- Another one of my Favorites... I don't think I've seen the video for this one yet... although I have seen the Burger King version of this video, back in the day when Burger King was sponsering these guys (Or something like that), but I have never seen the actual video.
3. Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely- This one I HAVE seen the video for. It is kind of sad, but it's very good.
4. It's gotta Be You- I don't normally listen to this song much, but I like it all the same.
5. I Need You Tonight- Yay! Nick gets a solo on this song! This one is really good to listen to. When the Boys first started out, this song used to be called Heaven In Your Eyes or something like that. I don't know what the full story behind this one is, though.
6. Don't Want You Back- I love this song too. In the Burger King special, my favorite part is where AJ goes "BSB 2000 Break it down for me Rok" when they are perfoming this one in the Video.
7. Don't Wanna Lose You Now- I don't really care for this song, hardly.
8. The One- This is another good song by BSB. Again one of my Favorite Backstreet Boys gets a solo.
9. Back To Your Heart- I like this one, another one of my favorites.
10. Spanish Eyes- Great Song. This is a song where I think mostly Brian and Howie get to sing lead vocals.
11. No One Else Comes Close- I think that is what this song is called. I don't pay much attention to this one anyway so it really doesn't matter.
12. The Perfect Fan- This song is awesome! Brian Littrell did a wonderful job with the lyrics as well as with the backing choir that sang with them. Good Job, Brian!
There! I did it! Anyway, I highly recommend this CD to anyone who likes the Backstreet Boys.

This album is great--and you don't even have to be a teenybopper to listen to it! Who says that the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC should only have fans that are under the age of 18? I mean, give me a break, people. There are plenty of full-grown adults out there who dig this kind of music.
My most favorite songs on this CD would have to be "I Want It That Way", "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely", and "Don't Wanna Lose You Now".
Although the Backstreet Boys are not the same as *NSYNC, that doesn't mean they can't sing well. So why does everybody, especially critics, constantly slam these guys? I just don't understand it.
If you haven't bought a copy of this CD yet, then what are you waiting for? Fish out that wallet of yours from your pocket and go make a purchase! I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

This is a good CD. Not the Backstreet Boy's best album, but by no means bad. It has quite a few good songs, such as my favorite, the ever famous Larger Than Life and the runner up, I want it that way. In between, it has many other good songs that show love or hate for a girl they had a relationship with, all with perfect beats and very interesting lyrics. It has a couple of bad songs, though, such as Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely and The Perfect Fan, both of which I find wimpy and sorta irritating, and that's why it gets 4 stars instead of five, but it is great nonetheless & if you like boy bands and/or love songs, you should buy this. It's for all ages, too.

Charlotte and Kristyn catch a ride to the beach with Charlotte's brother, Chet. It's scorching hot outside so Charlotte and Kristyn put the sun shade up-to keep the car cooler and to remind other beachgoers not to leave their dogs in their cars.
The blazing sun promises to burn-cruelty-free sunblock to the rescue! Charlotte and Kristyn steer clear of animal-tested Coppertone and Bain du Soleil, buying instead from compassionate companies like Jason Natural Cosmetics and the Body Shop.
Charlotte always picks up trash, knowing that it can injure and kill aquatic animals. She makes sure she cuts apart six-pack rings, which can strangle wildlife.
Thirsty from the heat, Charlotte and Kristyn stop for a Snapple and meet Max. They give him some water and wait with him until his guardian comes back. Charlotte and Kristyn politely remind her that it's never safe to leave a dog tied up on a sidewalk. Max could have been hurt-or stolen!
Kristyn packed veggie "hamwiches" (made with Yves meat-free ham slices), and Charlotte found lots of other animal-friendly veggie treats along the boardwalk.
A few hours in the sun makes you feel crispy, so Charlotte and Kristyn cover up with animal rights T-shirts.

A judge in England found McDonald's "responsible" for cruelty to animals, but the fast-food giant still hasn't cleaned up its act. Here are just a few of the things that make the animals that go into Happy Meals so miserable.
Kids everywhere are telling Ronald McDonald what they think!
Ethan and Emma Franklin, 8 and 5, told customers at this DeKalb, Ill., McDonald's why there's nothing happy about a Happy Meal.
Fifteen-year-old Nathan Runkle urged customers at a Columbus, Ohio, McDonald's to "chicken out."
Dakota Bailey of Denver is only 4, but he knows how to send a message!
The hens who lay McDonald's eggs live with three to six other hens crammed into cages not much bigger than a desk drawer-they can't even spread a wing!
Some mother pigs on "old McDonald's farms" spend their entire lives in hard cement stalls unable to turn around. They are tied to the front of the stall and often go crazy from boredom.
Some animals never make it to the slaughterhouse-they die in the trucks from freezing or rough treatment.

If you've got the peanut butter blues, keep reading! With just a little imagination, you can transform your lunchtime sandwiches from so-so to sensational. For the center of your sandwich, try anything from hummus and bean dips to guacamole, seasoned tempeh and tofu, meat-free "deli slices," stir-fried veggies-you get the idea. Salsa, salad dressings, barbecue sauce, and other creative condiments give your sandwich a kick. Hold everything together with bagels, tortillas, or pita pockets. Even peanut butter can be perked up, as you'll see below. Here are two great sandwich ideas to get you started-and for the grand finale, the best brownies you've ever tasted!
Garden Veggie Pita Pocket
1 whole wheat pita pocket
4 Tbsp. vegan cream cheese (we recommend Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese)
Your choice of cucumber slices, tomato slices, diced bell peppers, and/or grated carrots
Sprouts (such as alfalfa, sunflower, or broccoli)
Cut the pita pocket in half, and spread the cream cheese inside each half. Add your favorite veggies and top with sprouts. Eat!
PB and OJ Sandwich Spread
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 Tbsp. frozen orange juice
concentrate, thawed
Dash of ground cinnamon
Place all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Serve immediately on your favorite bread, or store in the fridge for snack attacks.
Bodacious Brownies
6 squares (1-oz. each) semi-sweet chocolate
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine
2/3 cup sugar
Egg replacer equivalent to 2 eggs (such as Ener-G Egg Replacer)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Microwave the chocolate and margarine in a large bowl on high for 2 minutes, or until the margarine is melted. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted.
Stir the sugar into the chocolate mixture. Mix in the egg replacer and vanilla until well blended. Stir in the flour and spread into a greased 8-inch square pan.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the pan comes out with fudgy crumbs. Be careful not to overbake. Cool, then cut and consume!

This definitely NOT JOSEPH. I am his oldest DAUGHTER. (my dad hates BSB.)
Even though this about 5 years later, this CD is still going strong with millions and millions of Backstreet Fans. I LOVE THIS CD TO DEATH (I'm listening to it as I write this!). And now I will review each song.
1. Larger Than Life: 10/10. This song is great! Great rhythm and a great songs for the fans! Brian Littrell (B-Rok) co-wrote this song!
2. I Want It That Way: 10/10. Classic song for BSB. Catchy rythm and GREAT vocals by Brian.
3. Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely: 100/10! One of my favorite songs on the album. It's sad, but it's beautiful at the same time. The Spanish Guitar sends chills down your spine and sort of brings a warmth into your heart.
4. It's Gotta Be You: 100/10! Another one of my favorite songs on the album. GREAT vocals by AJ and STUNNING vocals by Brian, especially, when he hits the "yeah!" towards the end of the song.
5. I Need You Tonight: ONE MILLION/10! My second favorite song on the album. Nick's voice is sooooo beautiful. The music is beautiful too and it's such a sweet song. It used to be called "Heaven In Your Eyes" and that was never put on a CD But performed at concerts by Nick. Definitely worth repeating again and again and . . . well. . . you get the idea.
6. Don't Want You Back: 10/10. Good break up song.
7. Don't Wanna Lose You Now: 100/10! Good song. Nick Carter did the additional vocal arrangements. Excellent choice. (lol)
8. The One: 10/10. Great beat reminds me of an uptempo version of "I'll Never Break Your Heart."
9. Back To Your Heart: 100/10! Beautiful song which Kevin co-wrote. I love it. The music is so pretty and the lyrics are heartfelt.
10. Spanish Eyes: 100/10! This song grew on me. The lyrics are very pretty and the music is nice.
11. No One Else Comes Close: ONE MILLION/10! This is my favorite song on the album. It's so beautiful. My aunt told me that BSB remade it. GREAT COVER. The music is beautiful and so are AJ and Nick's vocals. My favorite part is Nick's verse (go figure . . . lol).
12. The Perfect Fan: 100/10! This song is GREAT! Brian co-wrote it. The VOCALS ARE BEAUTIFUL and the choir sounds great!!!!
In conclusion, people BUY THIS CD!!!!!! You won't regret a penny.
Signed,
Mrs. Nick Carter
P.S. To the spotlight reviewer who wrote "I'm Glad Their Fifteen Minutes Of Fame Are Up", BSB has been around for YEARS. And now they're back with their album "Never Gone".
So, you're a LOSER.

Before I begin, I want to say a few things:
(a) The BSB do write their own music, or at least some of it.
(b) Just because they don't play instruments is no reason to dislike a band, you can't deny good music.
(c) Actually listen to the music before you review.
Anyway, I have this album and it is very very good. I am not a hard-core fan, but I have all albums and they are very talented vocalists. Here are my reviews:
1. Larger Than Life--This song is aerodynamic. It has a cool funky vibe that I appreciate. Plus, it's a shoutout to their fans. Good song. 9
2. I Want It That Way--Who can deny pop's king song? I think this is very amazing and nice vocals from the BSB. 10
3. Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely--Good song about losing those you love. The Spanish guitar has grown on me. 8
4. It's Gotta Be You--Funky, fun. Nice when you're in he dumps. 9
5. I Need You Tonight--My second favorite on the album. Nick does not have a very clean voice, but I rather like the mix of a clean song and raspy voice. 10
6. Don't Want You Back--OK. It's not something to rave about, but it's ok. 7
7. Don't Wanna Lose You Now--My least favorite. Nice vocals, but the song itself is a little tedious. 5
8. The One--NICE MIX!!! I realy like it...third favorite song. 9
9. Back To Your Heart--Tied for my favorite song...Brian has beautiful vocals. 10
10. Spanish Eyes--It's OK. 7
11. No One Else Comes Close--See above. 7
12. Perfect Fan--Amazing ode to their moms. I played this on mother's day. My other favorite. 10
I reccomend their new album: Never Gone.
What's up with the negativity? - Review written on May 22, 2005

This is the best BSB release, if you only plan to get one album of theirs, buy this one. Why? because the songs are considerably more mature lyric-wise than their first release, but still has appeal to BSB's young fans. I guess that's part of the reason why Millenium has made adults enjoy it too.
Highlights (my faves):
It begins with midtempo hits such as I want it that way which has become the core backstreet sound. Then goes into a totally danceable "It's Gotta Be You". Nick's emotional solo song follows, and it just grows on you. Next comes the funky "Don't Want You Back" my fave uptempo, with stong, almost 'angry' beats. "The One" sends a very positive message. Usually the last songs on a CD are not as good as the beginning tracks, but "Back to you heart", "Spanish Eyes", No one Else Comes Close" are very, very romantic, soothing, and calming. Perfect to listen to before going to sleep.
Love this album!

No wonder this "band" died out.
I asked a friend of mine, a fan, why the Backstreet Boys stopped putting out albums. She said because they grew up. Well that's great, but I think it's more than that. I think it's because the demand for boy bands with extremely high pitched voices, banal lyrics, and... well I was going to comment on guitar riffs but then I realized they HAVE NONE. Well the nation grew tired of listening to the same garbage and the corporate producers decided it was time to move on. That's "growing up."
Every single song on this album has no original lyrics. The lyrics are banal, there are no real instruments involved (everything is computer synthesized except for the voices, which sound just the same as any other boy band), and this album and this band have no place in the future. People will look back at the 90s and see the Backstreet Boys and listen to this album, and vomit in disgust at the nation's tastes back then.
Less than a decade later, the Backstreet Boys have literally faded out from the radio. People who were once fans now say "I can't believe I liked them!" They blame it on their childhood. No, it was because it was part of pop culture that people so easily absorb. And just as easily as the absorb it, they relinquish it.
In my opinion, not as good as their first CD - Review written on March 23, 2005

The reviews of this CD seem to be very polarized. Either people love them or hate them. I suppose a lot of the backlash is from rockers who hate boy bands. A lot of people put down this type of pop music saying that these artist don't last long and that there music is disposable or forgettable. What people don't realize is that ALL music is used up and forgotten. Similarly, most artists have a limited shelf-life, after which they become "oldies" artists. This is largely due to the fact that most music consumers are kids in their teens and twenties, and they are not going to buy a CD by someone over 40. So, yes, the Backstreet Boys time has come and gone, and maybe their music was disposable. But the same thing has happened to the supposedly more serious artists of that era. When was the last time you heard a hit from the Gin Blossoms, Toad the Wet Sprocket, or Hootie & the Blowfish? These groups were taken seriously because they were bands that played instruments and wrote songs, but they have been discarded the same way that the boy bands have.
Well, enough of my rant. On to reviewing this album. I don't like it as much as I like their debut album. Certain tracks stand out, such as "Larger than Life", "The One", and "Show me the Meaning of Being Lonely". "I Want it That Way" is catchy, but I could never really figure out what the song means. "Don't Want You Back" incorporates one of my pet peaves in recent music: using pops and hisses to make it sound like an old scratchy vinyl record. Listen kids, I used to have to suffer through pops and scratches on records. It wasn't fun. If I am buying a CD, I want crisp, clear music. Simulating scratchy vinyl records is just a waste of digital technology. "The Perfect Fan" enters into gag-inducing sweetness as an ode to mothers being "the perfect fan". The music is good, but the energy of the first album has been lost in the overproduction of this sophomore effort. But well worth buying for some of the key tracks.
