This game is very appealing to boys because it has cars, but also very educational because it is puzzles to solve which uses reasoning! My son (5)has the JR. version and really likes it! It also comes with a storage bag that I love and its easy to take with you.

My 8 year old son played this at school and loved it. It keeps him occupied for at least an hour. He went through the first pack of cards in 2 weeks so I ordered 3 more packs. Very easy to set-up, pack-up, take in the card etc. Some of the puzzles are even challenging for adults! It can be a fun family game as well. If my son is stuck, Mom, Dad or brother usually try to give ideas. I would highly recommend it for problem solving skills.

You setup cars & trucks in predetermined positions according to pictures that come with the game, and have to get the red car to drive out of the grid. Good at helping to develop strategy skills. Good for one player, but okay for two - my wife and I work on them together. The game itself is durable - only downside is that the game comes with 40 cards, 10 each of Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert. Once you're done with those 40, you're done with the game unless you want to try some over again. We've played the game on two occassions and are more than halfway through the stack of cards. Kids will (hopefully!) take longer to work through them.

I was looking for a toy for a child who's only interested in action figure dolls, video games, and the care and feeding of animals on a computer. When he opened his present, the look was of horror and disgust. An adult picked the game up, opened it, read it, started playing it and soon he wanted to play it too. The adult explained as he went along the goal of the game and soon the child was playing the game by himself. It's a mind game for every age. I'm not a game player myself, but this is something I'd play, but also, what I'm saying is, "If you show a child how to play it, show some interest", he'll sit and play it by himself eventually. There needs to be more games like this instead of them sitting playing video games or with nonsense action figures. It's a winner.

My eight-year-old son loves cars, so this game was perfect for him! The rest of the family became addicted to it too! It really makes you think and strategize, and as soon as you think it is easy, the next arrangement is nearly impossible. My son likes it because he can play it by himself, or have some one work on it with him. I would (and already have) reccomend this game to everyone! My four-year-old liked it as much as the fifty-three year old!

Bought this for my 17 year old son who enjoys these types of challenging puzzles. Ha has not found it terribly challenging as there seems to be a "trick" to figuring it out. Once you've got it, well, you've got it! It can be a bit of fun though.

This is both a fun and challenging puzzle that will keep your child (and yourself) busy for a long time. It teaches logic in a fun way. My 7-year old could put it down.

This is an amazing and cheap toy for presenting your friends, kids and even yourself. You pay for the brilliant idea of the game, not for the plastic and card material, which are basic and do not need any evaluation. If you like puzzles, this is something really riveting. Not to mention the educational value for kids. You can have hours and hours of fun. I definitely recommend it!

I bought this for my husband, but I got hooked almost as soon as we took it out of the box. Even our five-year-old son loves to play (and sometimes, he even outwits me). We can't wait to get another deck of cards to play with the set.

I bought this toy based on recommendations from dozens of friends. It is great fun to play. Instead of passing on to my son, I spent one hour playing the game right after opening the package. My wife, my son, my parents and in-laws all love it! Although it may be to advanced for my 3-year-old son, he can already put the cars in place according to the game cards by himself. It is good for eye-hand coordination at this stage. When he gets older, he will be enjoying the problem solving part. I am buying another two for my nieces as well.

It seems silly to pile more praise on a "toy" that has received so much positive feedback; this puzzle/game/toy deserves all of it though. My son has had this for a couple of years now and it has been a constant source of entertainment. He pulls it out and it stays out for a week or more before going back on the shelf, and everyone in the family takes a turn at it. It is a great solitary game, though we have begun to add a timer (a sand filled hour glass works perfectly) just to take it up a notch.

And was accused to stealing my children's games. AHA! I challenged them to a game and I got the board back 4 hours later. VEry addictive game, I have this and the Railroad one. The pieces are not as nicly produced as the Railroad one, and they are smaller, so they get stuck, but the game is perfect for the relief of boredom and the children love it too. This car edition, is expandable.

Perfect for travelling and keeping the kids (And workmates) out of your hair for a few hours

A game with task cards to "solve" that become increasingly more difficult. I use it with students. I keep a Post-It to mark my place in the task cards and encourage students to do the same. This game requires both strategies and memory. The kids love it, and so do I!

We bought this for our 7 year old son for Christmas - after a recommendation from a toy store employee. It was one of the biggest hits among ALL of our family members! I bought an extra set of cards that came with an extra car for additional challenges. In this day and age of tech gadgets and everything computerized, this game is wonderfully refreshing. It's a game of skill and logic, and it truly is appealing to all ages. From yougsters to grandparents. I will definitely buy this for any upcoming birthday parties!

I actually played this game as a flash based online game before ever seeing the physical game. The first time I saw this version was actually during a job interview. The interviewing company used this game to test the candidate's ability to solve problems.

I have 4 great-children ranging from 5 to 10, two grandchildren plus spouses, plus my own two kids. I keep this game plus the ThinkFun African Safari for the amusement of ***EVERYONE***. The little ones reach for it first thing, but before you know it the grownups(?) are involved and arguments are raging. (NO, not that way, move this one. You better get the other one over here if you want to solve it. Let me, I know how.) I even bought the extra card packs for more fun. I may have to buy more sets just so the kids get to play. But it is really nice to have a game that can be enjoyable and challenging from 5 to 75. The card drawer and the drawstring bag are wonderful ideas. Thank you so much ThinkFun. With Christmas coming I will look at your products first.

I knew this product before I ordered it, so there were no surprises. It is a great game for kids and adults alike and
keeps us occupied for hours.

This is a game for one person, and it is a game of logic, a puzzle of sorts. It has several levels of difficulty, and is just plain fun, as well as challenging at times.

We first saw the game when a visiting relative brought it with him to occupy time on the airplane. Everyone wanted to do it, so we decided that we should purchase one, also. Now, everytime someone comes to visit, the game is discovered and new converts
are made.

My children were 5 and 7 when we bought rush hour three years ago. They both love it. It is their first choice for a car trip. My husband enjoys it as much as they do. We have also purchased the next two levels of cards. It is very challenging and requires alot of problem solving skills. We highly recommend it.

This product is being used by a homeschooling mom to stimulate my childs thought process prior to starting our academics for the day. It is also used as a game because my children love it so much. I must take it from my husband sometimes so the kids can play. We have loaned it and recommended it to many of our friends.

I gave Rush Hour to my seven year old son this morning. He has been entertained all day and has completed the first 25 challenges(up to the advanced level), faster than I can!! My four year old wanted to join in on the fun and has completed several of the beginner level puzzles. I am already planning on getting additional challenge cards for all of us to enjoy!

My son first spotted this game at his grandmother's house and has been asking us to get his own ever since. He spends hours at a time (he's 5) going through the cards and setting up his roads and then figuring out how to get that red car out!

He has made it through several levels of the cards and I am always amazed at the ones he figures out so quickly! This game is a wonderful educational tool in many ways - it helps children to first, follow directions. They must set up the gametop to exactly match the drawing on the card. Second, they must then be able to figure out the puzzles, which take a lot of logic and forward-thinking. It has been great to see our son start to think out what one move will open up for him three moves down the road. The third thing I have noticed is that he is learning to stick with the task through several failures. We started him on the easiest cards and he could do those without difficulty, but once the cards started getting harder, he already had the confidence to think that he could do it as he had had success at the beginning. He will now sit and try to figure them out for a long time - trying different strategies and everything. He has certainly learned perseverance and patience!

The game is something that adults will enjoy as well. The cards get tougher as you go along, so there are plenty to satisfy children, teens, and adults. This is a game the entire family can enjoy!

My age recommendation would be 5/6 years old and up!

Some other people have described how the game works better than I could. My 4 year old kept asking Santa for this game because he saw someone else playing it. The game says ages 8 and up, so I figured it was going to be a waste for a couple of years. I was wrong. He LOVES it. And the rest of the family loves it too. At 4 years old he was able to solve some of the beginner puzzles. The intermediate and advanced puzzles are great for adults and teenagers. I agree this is a great problem-solving game. It is also an excellent game to take to restaurants because it is portable and really occupies my son's attention. I think it is a great alternative to electronic games. It gets your kid thinking in a different way! (...).

I was never interested in this game and passed it by for years, as it reminded me of those sliding number puzzles I had decades ago where you mix up the numbers and try to get them back in order.

I finally broke down and purchased it at Barnes and Noble when I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket, and realized what an interesting game it really is. It's great for visual and strategic thinking, and it comes with a number of cards, each providing a different challenge. And, for whatever reason, it is really quite fun to slide the plastic cars around on the board.

My kids (6 and 8) love it too.

sure, you could play 'pick up sticks' or 'jenga', but they get really redundant....
this game will get your mind thinking a little more strategically....like 'chess' or 'risk'!
it could be a one player game, but it's funner for two. ----(someone's got to put the puzzle together! and check off the 'answer list')
it's a great way to spend quality time with your kids, if you like being able to solve puzzles - together!!

My 9-year old daughter and her two boy cousins who are 8 and 10 loved this game - and their grandfather loved it too. It was recommended by my daughter's vision therapist, to help integrate visual images with problem solving. Everyone who has played it enjoys it. You can choose the level of challenge you want, so it works well for a broad range of ages. I recommend it for kids and their parents and grandparents.
