A musical masterpiece! - Review written on November 18, 2005

Although I am not a musical expert by any means, I do love music. I have an eclectic taste in music, and I know what I like. My friend and I were at our local Wal-Mart scanning the music section when I came across this record. I was immediately flustered the first time I laid eyes upon Mr. Lachey. I knew that this man had some special talent to tap raw human emotion by means of his larynx. I listened to some samples, and I broke down in tears in that aisle. My friend and a Wal-Mart employee had to help me to my feet. I cradled this CD to the counter, where I promptly purchased it. I arrived home, and put this disc into my player, and wept because of the purity of each and every tone. Listening to this CD is more satisfying than a fine wine, a robust cigar, or a beautiful woman. Days would pass where all I would only sit and listen. I began to skip meals, and I lost my job because I would not come to work due to this, or I would listen to it at work. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to know what dreams are made of. I have sent numerous letters to Mr. Lachey explaining to him my feelings, but between touring and composing more beautiful magnum opuses, he more than likely has not had the change to get back to me. Oh, Mr. Lachey! I cry blood and bleed tears for thine!

The "Hardest Thing" I've ever had to do Is listen to this cd, February 28, 2005
Recently I had the misfortune to be given this cd by a homeless man. I was coming home from my job at the paper clip factory, where I put paper clips into cardboard boxes, when I passed a man asking for spare change. I apologized because I had none to give him, and he handed me this cd. "Take this," he said in his grizzled wino voice. "I tried to sell it to make money for food but no one would buy it."
So I brought the disc home and put it into my cd player while I was cooking dinner for myself and my seventeen dogs and also my latest mistress, Angela Adams. I wish I had not put it in the cd player, because the music that came out was really not that good.
Imagine if the Backstreet Boys met O-Town for dinner, and the four least talented decided to step into the alleyway beside the restaurant for a few minutes and began to scat. N'Sync hears the racket and pops in to see if their services are needed, but Nick Lachey steps forward and says, "No, N'Sync! Go away! We don't want any danceable beats or r&b flava in our music!" So Justin Timberlake and crew slink back into the empty garage next door to practice their moonwalks.
Not only is the 98 Degrees music boring, but an examination of the cd itself reveals more issues.
1. The font which is used to write the words "And Rising" is an unfortunate choice. The components of the "d" in "and" are not joined as tightly as they might be, so the "d" looks like an "al." This changes the name of the album significantly.
2. The boys are standing in front of a wall of fire, which I assume is supposed to be a reference to their name, 98 Degrees, which is a warm temperature. However, any idiot knows that fire is much hotter than 98 Degrees. Human beings are hotter than 98 Degrees, usually by about .6 degrees, and they BURN when put into fire. In fact, 98 Degrees the temperature is not that hot, just like 98 Degrees the performing group.
3. Several of the members appear to have gotten tattoos of the band's name on their arms. How lame is that? Can you imagine if people in all bands did that? I bet Emma Bunton would feel really lame right now, what with the Spice Girls having broken up and become completely irrelevant to pop culture. What's that? 98 Degrees is no more? No one buys their music? Nick Lachey is best known as Mr. Jessica Simpson? Ha ha! Bet you're glad you got that tattoo now, sucker!
I recommend you not buy this cd. Buy anything else instead. I hear Britney Spears is genius.
One of the few nice boyband works - Review written on August 20, 2003

98 Degrees' "And Rising" is the very first boyband album I purchased, and it made no disappointment. Their duet is the best among other lads and the major singer Nick Lachey's got an awesome voice, though it bothers me a little when he reached high pitches. Their songs are well-written, soothing and offer listeners a feeling of peace and harmony.
There are also some hot-tempo songs on the album. They're also very different from those of other boybands'. I guess Nick liked to challenge the limitations of his voice, and fortunately, he did a great job here. I don't like "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" from their next album "Revelation," but after all, this suggested that 98 Degrees was a group that seeked something new and revolutionary.
Nick has already started his solo career. Wish him good luck!!!

The boys of 98 Degrees really hit the mark with this album.
It has some fun dance rhythms and some sweet ballads. Of course, people have heard "I Do", but I think their remake of "She's Out of My Life" is probably the best song on the entire CD. It's a cappella, so you can hear the exact harmonies between the guys...and it just gives me goose bumps.
This CD is almost as good as hearing the guys in person!

If I could give any CD by these guys a zero, I would. This is basically due to the fact that this is not music, it is record executive product designed to prey upon the mindless public's addiction to unabridged cheezy music. This genre of music is so manufactured that it's motives are highly questionable.
The unfortunate thing is that a lot of these singers actually have some vocal talent and they become pawns in the recording industry's money machine.
Take one look and move on.

Ninety-eight degrees. What do you think of them? I hated there first cd. I thought all the songs were terrible and I could't handle listening to them. This cd is great except for the fact that they use aother peoples songs on there album. I was extremely impressed with their song I Do (Cherish you).I was extremely disapionted when I found out that it was a country song. I am not sure if the country artist wrote it or not but I got the impression that he had after I did some research. My research was that the song was written in 1998 in May and they sung it and published their second cd in october of the same year. I think that 98 degrees are a group of very talented young men. In general Revelation is a better cd because they not only wrote most of THEIR OWN songs but they had some different varieties of songs kind of like the backstreet boys do. I am getting pretty sick of hearing the same typical old voices. I am not speaking of 98 degrees, just in general. There are groups called westlife,Youngstown,five,O-town,bb-mac who just all sound the same. I thought wow for the first backstreet boys cd, Outstanding for the second backstreet boys cd and very talented for the third backstreet boys cd. Then there was 98 degrees that I had never heard of. I read about them in a cosmo girl magazine. So I bought revelation and loved it and then I bought 98 degrees and rising. It was pretty good and then I bought the 1st 98 degrees cd which was terribly disapionting. I think that all these various boy groups that haven't been recognized yet have a lot of talent but the same old songs get old.98 degrees sings some very sweet songs but please, when is somebody going to come up with something new. I want something new to listen to. I listened to 98 degrees, westlife,bb mak, backstreet boys, youngstown, otown, five and n'sync today with my dad and we could detect no difference in any of the songs except for maybe the backstreet boys who I feel have more talent then any of those pop bands out there. If you like the backstreet boys ,I am almost sure that you'll like 98 degrees although 98 degrees bo have more softer smoother voices and sing more slow jams on this paticular cd. A great cd but please come up with something new.

98 Degrees is definitely rising; their music is awesome! I love this album. In fact, I kind of like it better than their new album, REVELATION (I own both albums). My new favorite song on this CD is "Still"...it's a beautiful slow ballad. I also love "If She Only Knew", "I Do (Cherish You)", "Because Of You", "True To Your Heart", "To Me You're Everything", "The Hardest Thing", and "She's Out Of My Life" [the a cappella and last track listed on this wonderful album]. I also like the Interlude, "Give It Up", which is a great fast-beat, short a cappella. One thing I like about 98 Degrees is that they can actually sing a cappellas - and sing them well, too - unlike some *other* Boy Bands (such as N'Sync...they try, but they cannot!). Also, I think the guys of 98 Degrees are all really hot (which doesn't hurt if you want to start a Boy Band!), especially Nick Lachey - he's the hottest and the best singer of the group. Anyways, if you love music with uptempo and upbeat songs, slow love ballads, and much more than 98 DEGREES AND RISING is for you!!

The second disc by 98 Degrees was the first one I bought. I really like the sound of their voices, and The Hardest Thing was one of my fave songs. The fastest song here is To Me You're Everything, another fave. The rest of the CD is mostly ballads, but they don't sound like boring boy band ballads, the songs have depth and meaning, not to mention that Justin, Jeff, Nick and Drew have the best voices I've ever heard. I'm sure you'll agree with me once you hear their version of Michael Jackson's She's Out Of My Life. Their shimmering harmonies blend together perfectly, which is also apparent on the other tracks. Buy this disc and surprise yourself!
TALENTED GUYS, GOOD MUSIC, AND A FUTURE. - Review written on July 16, 2000

98 Degrees are a good band, not like most boy bands. They have great harmonizing, vocals and are easy on the eyes.
This CD is a good compilation of ballads, however they tend to wear a little thin after a while sounding like all the other boy bands. The thing that makes 98 Degrees standsout are their voices. They could sing over N Sync & Backstreet Boys anyday with their ranges.
However I would like to see 98 Degrees rock a little and take their ballads a new direction with more strings, and a little less sappy.
All together though this is a good album. Songs to listen for are "I Do" a great song for newlyweds, "The Hardest Thing" and "Do You Wanna Dance"
