Listening to Barry White is a Guilty Pleasure - Review written on February 23, 2007

Oh gosh, what can I say? I try to pretend that I'm some sort of pseudo-intellectual who only listens to Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach. Alas, I must admit the truth: I enjoy the singing of Barry White. Please don't tell anyone. Let this be our little secret. This particular album is fantastic. You should also own a copy.

This is a wonderful CD for Barry White lovers. The song I love is "Can't get enough of your love babe."

If you're like me and have a set of CDs you use to set the mood, this is definitely one to add to the collection. If you don't get anywhere with this CD, you're not getting anywhere, period. This is up there with Sade's Love Deluxe, Seal's Acoustic CD, and Al Green's I'm Still in Love with You.

This is the only Barry White Greatest's Hits CD you need. The others are good and have more songs but this is the perfect mix for loving. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Although there have been recent hits compilations, the original greatest hits album from 1975 still works just fine! What I like about it is it contains "Love Serenade" (just listen to his spoken intro as he is in the bedroom with his lady! You'll be jumping for joy!)

If you are just a casual fan who only wants one CD but feels the 1994 "All-time Greatest Hits is too much (20 songs), then these 10 will be what you need. However, be warned: you'll want more!

Note: This collection only contains Barry White as the SOLO artist.

Great CD. In the old days I owned the cassette. I just wanted to update my stuff! Barry makes me feel romantic and it works on my husband also! God Bless Barry's soul now that he is gone, but never forgotten. He will always be in my house!

I don't think that there's someone who doesn't know one of Barry's songs. He's voice was incredible, the lyrics fantastic and the rythms amazing.
This collection includes his best best songs until 1975. You'll find here classics like the #2 "What I'm gonna do with you", the #1 "I'm gonna love you just a little more", the 1974 #1 hit "Can't get enough from your love" that actually returned to the Top 20 in 1993 performed by Taylor Dayne. Another song that was also covered was "Never, never gonna give up". The song was covered in 1997 by one of the most important singers in the U.K, the great Lisa Stansfield. The song made it to #3 in the U.K (performed by Lisa) and Barry took it to #1 in 1973 in the U.S.
My personal favorite song is the #2 "You're the first, the last, my everthing" the song is simply incredible.
This Greatest Hits version has been certified Multi-Platinum in the U.S and even though Barry recorded more albums in the 80's and 90's this one conteins the essencial.

This album is the perfect compliment to one of the greatest voices in pop music history. All of the songs are wonderful, from "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Baby" to "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up." But "You're the First, My Last, My Everthing" is the best example of his timeless, beautiful talent. It is this gift that will stand the test of time.

This is my #1 R&B album ever. No R&B album can rival to this album. I believe that all R&B lovers, even if they are not Barry fans, should have this album in their collection. Anyone who listen to this particular album and to Barry's mellowest ever album "Beware" will no doubt become a Barry White fanatic. Just ask my wife, not really R&B lover, but it happened to her.

This compilation basically covers White's hits between 1973 and 1975. Not nearly as comprehensive (or costly) as "Just for You" or "The Ultimate Collection", it is adequate for those familiar with "The Maestro" as having monster singles on the charts.

His album fans, however, will find this collection sorely lacking.

This is an absolute essential album to own if you are in love. It has a reputation of being the classic make-out record of all-time, and classify it as that is just not fair -- it is much more than a cheap way to get the vibe going. It is an excellent, soul-making album of the finest order. Listen to it with someone you love, and share the greatness of the cool sounds of Barry White.

I know I stick out here (because I'm sort of a rock guy) but I went through this phase a few months back where I had the sudden urge to buy a whole bunch of old-school stuff (this, Chuck Berry, Joe Cocker, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and I still wanna get The Dark Side of the Moon) and this was probably my best purchase. I swear, this is not a bunch of bs. Anywho, this is very good. Sure, we all know "My First......etc" courtesy of Money Talks, and "Cant Get Enough...." courtesy of.......well, pretty much everywhere. But there are a few other tracks that I haven't heard that were really good. Most noticeably the second track, but also the one after Cant Get Enough.... I also like that song where he's all like, "take off them panties....ahhhh, baby". I know I sound like an idiot, but I don't have the CD with me. This is perfect mood music, love music, or just perfect music.
Listening to BW could even give Al Gore rhythm - Review written on March 07, 2001

This ten song steamy disco serenade will fill even the most wooden with rhythm, I should know. If you know Barry White's msuic you'll know this is but the tip of the volcano (iceberg is inappropriate for BW). I didn't click with BW's first couple of hits (I was still a young rusted tin man), and it wasn't until "You're The First, The Last, My Everything" that I began to thaw. After that, I was like the rest of the disco generation, hooked on Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor and Barry White. And now looking back some twenty-five years, what a time it was. How magical and insulated life is when one sees the world through the rhythm and laughter of music. Barry White taught me something about me that I didn't know before I heard his music: "I didn't realize (feel) the common ground between the races until I heard his music". As superficial as music may seem, it can open one's spirit in a profound and eternal way. BW bridged many of us with ourselves and one another. Buy this CD as a starter, and then move on.
Very Appropriate For Those Special Moments - Review written on October 23, 2000

There are certain times when you won't to creat an intimate sensual atmosphere. Exile On Main Street and Abbey Road are two great master recordings, but each of these classics can not match Barry White for a soothing sensual moment when a man just wants to be close to a special lady. Barry's soft rap and soothing vocals along with a steady instrumental backing just sets a relaxed atmosphere. The songs do not vary too much in tone and its all about making love and giving love and yearning for love. Normally I like variety in my music. However, this style is so on the money that the limited variety that exists here certainly fits my bill......especially when love is in the air!

"You're the First, My Last, My Everything" has been my favorite song since I heard it on the jukebox at school in 1975 when I was just a kid. I didn't know anything about Barry White then, but I do now and he is an icon. No one sings like this man, no one puts the feel into his words with the same style. He's one of a kind.

If you like Barry White, you will already have all these songs on the original albums, but if just want to hit the high points, look no further, this is it!

This album is exactly what you want to hear from Barry White. Lots of deep baritone mumblings of "baby, take it off" & "Baby, that feels good", etc...

Great for parties, great gift for your lover.

70's icon.

Being away from my boyfriend for a month and a half is bad enough, but everything turned out all right after listenin to Mr. Barry White's greatest hits. "Love Seranade" is definitely the best on the album, complete with the backup singers. i bought my boyfriend another of Barry's Wonderful cds, and together, "Lord only knows what happens behind closed doors."

Back in the mid seventies Barry White ruled the Juke Boxes in every late night, smoke filled bar from coast to coast. Everyone could relate to the honest, matter of fact, in your face message he moaned. No matter what your musical preference was, Barry White was the common denomonater that we embraced as we hoped for our dreams to come true. I never counted how many hits he had, but this CD truly does him justice. Every time I hear this CD I'm taken back to that time when love ruled the universe.
