I absolutely love this book! It's fabulous! I'm normally very impressed with Amazon - their product selection, their fast and accurate billing and shipping, and the condition of the products when they arrive. This time, however, the book (which is hardcover) arrived with warped pages (like water damaged) and some of the pages are not very attached to the binding.

This is a great buy for a true WICKED fan. It teaches you the whole history of how this great musical became a novel to performing on stage. Go behind the scenes to learn more about the songs, costumes, set design, and many more.

This book is an absolute must for any fan of Wicked, the Musical or for any fans of the stars of the show. I ordered this for my teenage daughter and she loves it!

Exquisite book! Quality thick pages and glossy finish. The cover is padded and antiqued. The Grimmerie details many aspects of production from casting to sound effects, with individual interviews with principles describing their character development and Wicked journeys. There is even a section on making Elphaba green!!

Although titled The Grimmerie they leave out Elphaba's spells and the script is incomplete which is disappointing. Aside from this, however, the book is fantastic and a MUST READ for any Wicked fanatic!

I am a huge fan of Wicked who lives in Oz(Australia). I brought the Grimmerie and it arrived almost 3 weeks early which I was very happy with. I love it and it shows a lot of great information about the cast, crew and making of Wicked. I like some of the other reviewers wish that some of the later cast members were included but it was still a great buy and I'm looking forward to seeing the production in Melbourne and getting my grimmerie signed by the cast.

Wicked, the "true" story of the witches of OZ! What a wonderful concept and the play is so marvelous in making the story so believable. The book helps you see the underlying story in the Frank Baum, Wizard of OZ. If you haven't seen the play, the book will intrigue you enough to want to see it, again and again. If you have seen the play, then this book is a wonderful companion. While it has the usual pictures and glossy prints, it also has the script which is superb. The ending is missing from the script, so the play is a must see!!!

My 11 year old daughter saw Wicked in December 2007, and was immediately hooked! Soon after she saw the show, she found this book in our local chain bookstore, but decided not to buy it when she saw how much of her Christmas money she would have to spend. So, she patiently waited, until one day she saw it on Amazon for 1/3 less (plus free shipping). She bought it immediately, and has looked at it dozens of times since she got it. **I've looked at it a couple of times myself...** ;-)

I really wanted this book. But I did not want to pay the big bucks. So I was so glad that I got an e mail when it was at a lower price.

Great showcase for the show for those that have seen it or love the soundtrack. I liked how they showed how the stage was set up and they adapted it step by step. I wish there had been more of a libretto and more on what was going on in the story. But, if you carefully read some of the hints, the ending becomes pretty clear.

I've enjoyed this book very much. I read the WICKED novel, and then a heard about the Broadway Musical. I' ve seen some videos,but this book gave me a lot of interest in watching it live, although in it will be quite dificult in spain.

No, I haven't seen the Broadway show - or the one in Chicago, etc. Yes, I've heard the soundtrack and LOVED it. My 10 year old future actress is in love with Wicked, so I decided to purchase this as a last minute Christmas gift. I am glad that I did! She loves it - it gives her a good idea of what the show is about - both in front of the audience and behind the curtains. The pictures are great and the cover really COOL! Now, if I could get tickets to the show for a great bargain like the purchase of this book!

My daughters and I went to see Wicked in November and we had so many questions about the story (I had read the book) and the show. The kiosks at the show were selling 'The Grimmerie', but I didn't see it. So, when I did a search on Amazon and came across this book, I ordered it for my daughters for Christmas.

When the book was delivered, I was so impressed with its quality and inital appearence. The image doesn't do the book justice, but the cover is padded and 'faux distressed' to make is look like it had been discovered well-worn in someone's attic. I had to touch it several times because it looked as if it was very textured, but wasn't. The pages are antiqued with lots of artwork and detail - much like a fine manuscript.

I flipped through the entire book the first night and LOVED it - so much, I didn't want to give it up!!

The book has a lot of history about the origin and development of the original show, interviews and pictures of original cast members, lyrics from songs, script excerpts, meanings behind some of the props and lots of behind the scenes information (like how the green makeup stays on the Alphaba).

Needless to say, my daughters consumed this book. They look at it almost every day. It will be a treasured addition to our library. (Notice I said 'OUR' and not 'THEIR'- LOL)

If you saw the show, don't hesitate to buy the book!

I saw "Wicked" in Chicago and absolutely loved it. This book is like the "ology" books for grown-ups. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It's also a very attractive book. The pictures on this site do not do it justice.

This book does a spectacular job of explaining "the road to Wicked." It had every little detail you ever wanted to know! Apart from it's attractive and loyal cover, the book is filled with testimonials from many of the people involved in getting the musical to where it is today, as well as several of our favorite cast members! This book is definitely a fantastic buy for any Wicked or Broadway fanatic!

I purchased the book because my director wanted similar costume styles for our local production of Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The pictures and information given on the costuming was an excellent resource for me. In addition, I love the story of the show and was excited to learn about the behind-the-scenes aspects of production.

I have seen the Broadway in Chicago production of WICKED twice, so far, and I had just heard of The Grimmerie so I knew I had to have the book. I am so glad I was able to find and order it online. It's actually a gift for my daughter, but I had to read it first! It has so much information in it that I didn't even expect to find! This is a "must have" for any fan (read "fanatic") of the show Wicked. The cover design, which simulates an antique tome, is tragically beautiful. Inside, it's chock-full of photos, comments by the creators and cast, and insider information like how they make Elphaba green or where the name Elphaba came from. Also includes complete lyrics of the songs. My only disappointment with the book is that it does not contain a full transcript of the dialogue.

This is a totally wonderful book. The look, the feel, the photos....every Wicked fan will want this. Simply gorgeous.

Full libretto, huge pictures, a history of "the Wizard of Oz" from concept to book series to musical to movie... more info than I was even hoping for on "Wicked." It's a LOT like the "Rent" book, if you've seen that.

I recommend purchasing this book after the seeing the play. It's the perfect way to remember the award-winning musical. Buying it off amazon is a much better bargain then buying it on location!
