It was pretty funny, but I wish they would have had some more skits from Justin Timberlake. Then it would have been a five star item!

This DVD has the sketch with Peyton Manning and Will Forte as a basketball coach doing the most ridiculous dance to try to inspire his team. Watch it and just try not to laugh out loud.

A 90-minute dvd of the supposed best of '06/'07 season. These SNL "best of" collection's are always hit or miss so people's mileage may vary, but i found this one to be good enough. I liked most of these and can easily see myself coming back to them from time to time making it a worthy purchase(especially for under $10 bucks as it stands now). For those on the fence, maybe the 'exclusive' extras might do the trick as i found these to be rather enjoyable as well:

* audio commentary- mostly enjoyable to listen to as there are some laughs to be had due to the participation of some cast/writers who worked on the skits. Problem is, it's not a group of them sitting together watching the entire dvd commenting, only members that have something to do with that skit. So if something funny is going on in one segment's commentary, it's over once a new skit starts with the next batch of commentators.
* uncensored **** in a box video.
* photo gallery- about 15 in a slideshow.
* 2 never-before-seen sketches, one with Keenan Thompson(as a woman) and Peyton Manning which was ok. The other one was pretty good though with Fred Armison and Justin Timberlake. Say what you will about JT, but the guy seems to have a sense of humor about himself and he usually is in some of my favorite sketches(as one of the Gibb brothers, as an omelette, something-or-other in a box, and in this sketch a stockboy). And yes, he gets to do some of his dance moves in this one too(is this contractual?).
* Outtakes from "Weekend Update"- this one put the extras over the top for me. The updates are usually my favorites so it was great to see this bonus. Even though you get the 'rejects'/jokes-gone-bad, it's fun to watch how Seth and Amy handle it. It runs almost 6 minutes.

Overall, the dvd is recommended at a cheap price as it's something you'll watch more than once or twice. Btw, on the back cover it says English Dolby Digital 5.1(i'll take their word on that), Anamorphic widescreen 1.78:1(check), subtitles SDH(could not access this on two dvd players, but maybe it's just me).

Either 06/07 was a horrible season, resulting in very few clips to release, or SNL is very stingy about these DVDs. This is the first one I bought and I was shocked by how little made it on this release. It started off with Jake Gyllenhaal's opening monologue, then skipped over the rest of his show and flitted over other shows with 1-2 clips max from each. There were no other monologues. It's very much like the "Best of" shows you would see on the E channel - brief and leaving you feeling short-changed. I deeply regret this purchase.

If you're looking for a particular show, go to amazon video download feature (which lets you purchase a show, though it looks like even that's edited down) or go to the SNL website which will give you A LOT more clips to see than this DVD.
Great collection of the season's highlights - Reviewed on 2008-03-08

Saturday Night Live is one of the longest-running television series ever, and rightfully so. With an all-star cast of comedians, constantly changing for various reasons, the show has always managed to hold together, providing over 30 years of laugh-out-loud sketch comedy.

This set combines the best Saturday Night Live material from the 2006-2007 television season. I won't lie, this is a show that is long since past its glory days. And yet, despite the greatest era of the show being long gone, it's not a show I can simply "give up on." While the variety of material on the show has become a bit hit-and-miss in recent years, this DVD does a great job combining the season's highlights. It's definitely a nice alternative to have to endure a lengthy show, and only getting a few laughs along the way.

Amongst those featured on this disc are Jason Sudiekis, Kristen Wiig, Darrell Hammond, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, Justin Timberlake, Alec Baldwin, Dane Cook, Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Laurie, Matthew Fox, Ludacris, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Peyton Manning.

While definitely not the show's best season, there are more than enough reasons to get this DVD. Amongst the many highlights featured here are the A-Holes sketch (Sudeikis and Wiig), Darrell Hammond impersonating Donald Trump, the Bronx Beat sketch (Rudolph), and last but not least, the now-infamous Dick in a Box sketch (Samberg and Timberlake.) Buying this set is a fine alternative to having to endure the all-too-long, hit-and-miss shows of recent years. There's no filler here - just the highlights

The material here is very recent, all recorded within the last 3 years. As such, it looks and sounds far better than the numerous Saturday Night Live retro sets that Universal has been releasing. While the audio and visual quality here aren't the best they could have been, I'm not complaining. The set is viewable with no major issues, and that's what really counts.

Naturally, the extra features on this disc are a bit minimal, but what little is included here will definitely be checking out if you're an SNL fan. The real draw here will be the never-seen-before sketches filmed during the season, which are a nice incentive to pick the set up if you're a completist. And if you're one of those fans, you'll get a kick out of the outtakes as well. The commentaries are worth listening to at least once, but the feel like they were rather hurriedly thrown together. And the "uncensored" Dick in a Box sketch is identical to its aired counterpart, just with the bleeped language airing uncensored - so don't expect any big surprises there. With all that goes on behind the scenes when filming SNL, I have no doubt that this could have been a 2-disc set, with an entire disc being extras. Still, this 1-disc set isn't half bad.

This is a good set that brings together the highlights of one of SNL's more recent, scattershot seasons. If you just want all the good stuff from the season and can do without the filler, this set is for you. Likewise, even die-hard fans who like everything will want to invest in it, for the sake of the bonus material.
