Album Description

MATT WHITE:

Take one listen to the music of Matt White and you're hooked. His songs are relatable--you'll think of the one who got your heart, the pains and pleasures of growing up and the remarkable journey in discovering just who the heck you are. Drawing inspiration from Elton John, Jeff Buckley, Coldplay and Maroon 5 (He's like Maroon 5 in one person), Matt White's debut album, Best Days, marks the arrival of a gifted songwriter who draws from his own experience. Matt delivers a song with a smooth voice that will immediately put the listener at ease. The first single (of the same name), "Best Days," is about a girl, whom Matt cannot name, who challenged him to go camping.

Album was recorded in Los Angeles. Matt lives in New York.

Matt White makes a sexy debut in his album entitled, Best Days. You are probably more familiar with his songs than you think, as a number of them were featured in well-known tv shows like One Tree Hill, and in movies such as Because I Said So (featuring "Love" and "Miracles"). "Love" is a light-hearted feel-good song, similar in style to Jason Mraz's popular, "I'm Yours". Matt is more lyrical and softer than Jason and has a unique flair for the piano. In concert it's plain to see that is the instrument White was born to play, and it comes through in the music. The title track, "Best Days", is a casual romping tune with Matt's trademark silky slide and sweet falsetto. Songs like "I'll Be There" gets your pulse racing with driving keyboard melodies and drums. "Wait for Love" croons sadly of a far-away lover and has a powerful melody that will put you right in his mood. "Paradise" will have you yearning for more and "Play" starts out slow, but Matt soon breaks into a sensual auditory ride with his silky falsetto. "Miracles" has the same silky falsetto combined with the light-hearted feel of "Love" and will make you think of dancing just about anywhere. My favorite on the album has to be "Moment of Weakness" which conveys such a heart-wrenching plea for forgiveness that I just leave my desk and run to NYC. (He's not bad looking either, being a nice bit over 6 ft. tall and possessing chiseled cheekbones that would make Michaelangelo's David jealous.) The band on the whole album provides tight harmonies and there's not a single lemon in the bunch. Highly recommended to anyone who likes Jason Mraz, and Jon McLaughlin, Matt White's best days will no doubt soon be getting even better.

I took a chance on this CD because I fell in love with the single, and the other songs are just as romantic, fun, and catchy. You'll find yourself singing along in no time. Love it....and didn't have to try hard!

Let's see if this guy is here in two years - I doubt it - he's a record company push without any organic swell - not only that, but 3 of the reviews here are from the same day, from people who have never reviewed anything else - very tacky -

50,000 hits on Myspace got the attention of Geffen Records. After an EP by the New York singer, "Best Days" exploded last August. He's got a bubbly sound that sticks in your head. The title song zips along with a shotgun lyric gliding by like scenery on the expressway, "Do you believe in love at first sight? I think you do. We're lying naked under the covers." "I'll Be There" is a good track with Matt's piano creating urgency with his strong vocals making the sale. "Love" has such a happy feel with the carefree piano part, "Such a silly game we play like a summer's day in May." "New York Girls" is another strong track with a rocking beat and Matt's wry vocals, "These New York girls are crazy. Save me!" My favorite track on the CD is "Anybody Else" with its flat-out rock & roll beat and Matt's powerful vocals on the chorus, "Oh baby, why can't you see you're making such a fool of me & I don't want you loving anybody else?" The CD concludes with "Paradise," a starry-eyed romantic track that builds with a wall of sound. "Best Days" is a great CD that gets sweeter the longer it stays in the changer. Enjoy!
