I was an extra in this movie, so I cannot give a truly unbiased review of it, but it was loads of fun to participate in. Arthur Hiller was a wonderful guy, and so were all the actors. It was like a big vaguely organized circus....in other words, a great experience...Looking forward to seeing my school friends on DVD again.

It has been a long time since I have seen this. But I remember the effect it had on me. It made me respect my teachers even more. Folks seem to forget about teachers as heroes. This movie as others have written. is funny but still rings true today. A simpler time when teachers DIDNT have to carry concealed or wear body armor.

This movie was a satirical appraisal of the American educational system. This film was released in 1983, but some elements are still true to this day. I recommend this film.

This movie is a good comical slap at the decaying state of education and what it means for the country. And a good comedy along the way.

It brings up the analogy that modern schools are still too close to the cliche "Factory" era schooling that was made to get the working class just literate enough to operate equipment but keep them too uncreative to revolt. But beyond that, another neat modern comment about them made in it too.

I won't spoil it. It's when Nick Nolte goes to cheer up his friend after he's had part of his hand bitten off... Funniest part of the whole movie!!!
One of the best movies I've ever seen - Reviewed on 2008-03-16

This is one of the best movies I ever saw. It shows what is actually happening in our schools. You do have to realize it is condensed in to a two hour movie, but what you see in the movie is true. I am so glad they finally made it on a DVD.
