As other reviews will tell you, this is not a typical GU style release. Frontman for Marine Parade throws down some sick tracks for mexico city. Very innovative DJ and put Evil Nine on the map. I would recommend you listen to the cd in its entirety. (cd 1) electro infused synthy-breaks (cd 2) minimal house into some rock/indie vocal style breaks.

Adam Freeland takes an interesting turn with this 32nd release of the Global Underground city series. The most obvious difference to all other GU's albums is that his disc 1 is the more "uptempo" of the two. However, in my opinion, it was not the tempo that formulated each disc. Rather, the set on disc 1 constitutes what most of us expect from Adam Freeland (gritty, breaks, rock and alternative), whereas the set on disc 2, has Freeland experimenting with mostly unfamilar genres. Since disc 2 has multiple tracks that would fall under minimal...well of course you are going to have a slower tempo set.

I wasn't impressed with disc 1. It's not bad and has a couple of decent tracks but as a set overall, it is lacking. The tracks are mostly average, their layout is uninspiring and the mixing itself is ho-hum.

Disc 2 is a pretty nice effort. Not quite an epic set, but most of my gripes with the first disc were improved upon with this set. It does lose a little potency 3/4 of the way through, but Freeland's pseudominimal set is worth a listen. What I like the most about this set is that a reputable DJ once again demonstrates to the out-of-control pure minimalist DJ's out there that a set of minimal tracks does not have to be so dull and dreary.

Disc 1, gets 3/5 stars. Disc 2, 4/5 stars.

I liked Adam Freeland in his times of On tour albums (1999-2001). Later on, he became a little bit strange for me and I almost forgot about him. Last week I visited a CD shop and saw his album and told to my self to give him one more chance. Before listening to it, I read some of the reviews published here and found out that this album is considered as very contraversial - either you like it or you hate it. I mus say that I definately belong to the first group - simply this album is excellent. I like especially the second disk, which is more "ambient" and innovative.
I you look for something to dance on, do not buy it, if you look for something interesting, innovative and unusual (but still very excellent) give a try!

It is OK. Adam is not my favorite DJ. I gave it a chance and it is OK. No more than that.

awful, awful, awful. is it 1989 again? so dissapointing. I just can't convey how awful this is. if you want a great Global Underground disc, try Deep Dish, John Digweed or James Lavelle' installments. Deep Dish's solo projects by Sharam and Dubfire are also pure gold.

Avoid GU 32 like the plague.
