I wasn't expecting too much from the reviews and knowing this is all plastic. For light work its great and very easy to work with during projects. You can put the vise in differently than the photo shows allowing your to quickly remove it from the bench or desk and take it to the drill press or wherever. As discussed its not for super heavy duty work where you need a metal vise.

I OWN FOUR OTHER DREMEL VISE'S, PLUS I ALSO HAVE MOST OF THEIR POWER TOOLS. I STARTED BUYING DREMEL IN 1965 AND I HAVE DONE COUNTLESS WORK PROJECTS WITH THEM. I AM NOW A MINIATURE MACHINIST BUILDING STERLING ENGINES AND THE DREMEL TOOLS ARE A GREAT ASSET. THE VISE IS EXCEPTIONAL IN HOLDING AND POSITIONING TO MY TYPE OF WORK PROJECTS. I HAVE ALREADY USED IT FOR MANY PROJECTS. THE RAPID JAW SPACING AND GRIP POWER ARE OF GREAT HELP WITH MY CARPAL TUNNEL PROBLEM. JUST DON'T EXPECT THIS VISE TO DO THE JOB OF A METAL MACHINIST VISE. THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE RIGHT JOB IS A GOOD GUIDELINE. HERB WELDON

I loved the design and my use of it improved all my projects till today. It suddenly started breaking/tearing on the sides. I noticed that the more I tighetened it onto my workbench...the more the tearing spread. I mean perhaps its a good tool for those who barely ever put muscle into their work but I would like to believe that if I spend this kind of money that my darn tool would last a few years....not a few weeks!

Dremel Vice for small objects - Reviewed on 2008-01-07

This is a great tool for working with objects from 1/2" to 6" or perhaps more. You can position an object in almost any angle and adjust the pressure easily and in small increments. I recomend it for hobbiests working with wood, jewelery, metal, etc. While it is a little roughly finished at the base, the jaws of the vice and the other surfaces are nicely finished. This is a good buy for the money and will be very useful unless you need precision equipment.
