I have a 5-HP Powermatic 66 tablesaw equipped with a Freud 80-tooth thin kerf blade. I noticed that while cross cutting some cherry hardwood I was getting a wavy, not-so-square cut. I purchased the CMT Model 299.102.00 5" Saw Blade Stabilizers and installed them (both, one on each side of the blade, some folks think you only use one, but that's not correct) and made several test cuts using the same material. The blade stabilizers made a world of difference. The cut produced was perfect. In fact it was as smooth as though it had been sanded. I also noticed that the saw ran quieter with less vibration. I was amazed and quite pleased with the result. I prefer to use a thin kerf blade and this solved my problem. The only down side with these stabilizers is that they are large (5-inches in diameter) and limit the depth of cut to about 2-1/4 inches. But, I guess when you need to cut the maximum depth you could switch to a full 1/8th-inch thick blade which does not to produce the problem. At any rate, I would highly recommend the blade stabilizers to anyone.

Tech. marches on ! With the advent of the thinner table saw blades Some potential problems begin to crop up. When passing a piece of hardwood over these blades, the blade has a tendasey to dis-torte from its supposed 90 degree path. When this happens, other things occur. #1 Increased noise. #2 Scratch marks on the wood you just cut.#3 The saw blade dulls quicker. Have stabilizers, one on each side of the blade, helps tremendously to eliminate these problems. My personal choice is CMT because of the quality steel they use in there products.
