Product Description

This programmable device functions as a traditional dealer button (the disk that rotates from player to player representing which person is the dealer) and offers the capacity to completely manage a poker tournament. On its large LCD screen it displays the current round and time, as well as the current amount of the small/big blind, and ante bets. Programmable for up to 10 rounds, it takes just seconds to completely set using three buttons. Pressing "start" allows a game to begin. When the device's beep-alarm goes off after the chosen elapsed time (in hours, minutes, and seconds) all that is required is press any button, and all the programmed settings will advance to the next round. Pausing and restarting is also possible. The timer is three inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick--perfect for a chip case.

Good Dealer Button/Timer but could be great if... - Reviewed on 2008-06-08

After reading a prior post, I was worried about whether or not my new Ultimate Dealer Button (UDB) would look as advertised. I just received my UDB a few days ago. While mine does have all the graphics shown in the picture, the spade is off-centered to the left by an 1/2 inch. Not a huge deal, but I just wish companies would ship what they show or indicate the appearance may vary from the picture.

I can see where the size of the UDB (3 inch diameter) might bother some players, but I like the fact that it will be easier for everyone to see who is sitting in the Dealer position and hopefully cut down on "post your blind" reminders.

As for the functionality of the UDB, it works as described (i.e., 19 programmable rounds, adjustable round timer, small/big blinds and ante). I found it easy to program. Buttons are stiff, but a small price to pay for all the functionality.

UDB, if you are listening, this item could easily go from 'good' to 'GREAT' if the Shift button could program each individual digit on the display. Instead of holding down the up/down button to go from zero to n, you would be able to simply select Shift until the first desired digit blinked and change just that number to achieve the same end result. For example, get ready to wait awhile if you want to indicate '500' for the Big Blind. If the recommended change were implemented, you literally could adjust the amount in one second. This would be a huge time/frustration saver.

Overall, I am pleased with the item and feel it is a good value for all the functionality and reasonable price. I am looking forward to my next home game to put this UDB to good use. Happy dealing. As for me, I am "ALL IN"!

I've been through a few different products like this recently and was surprised when I came accross the UDB. It wasn't exactly ideal to drag along a laptop with blind timer software around through the rotation of my home games.

I also recently bagged my DB dealer button which was great for a while, when it was the first to market. The DB dealer button doesn't display blind levels, only a glorified baking timer. The functionality on the UDB is great. It is very easy to program, and easy to see. Your not going to see the blinds and time accross the room, or accross the table for that matter, but if the button's in front of you there's no issue.

I would like to see a little more functionality out of the UDB. For instance, the blind amounts are fixed to three digits. So if you had blind levels such as 1500 - 3000, it would have to appear as 15 - 3k on the UDB, so a little difficult with 4 digit integers and unless you represent 7 digits as simply 1 or 2 or whatever, for those of you who like to play at the levels of televised events, or if your events are that big.

Also, there is no auto calc function using starting stacks or number of players or desired length of tournament. I'm not certain if you can have more than one set of blinds saved at a time either, which would allow you to toggle through saved schedules for a particular game, that would be nice.

Overall, I give the UDB an 8, thats primarily because of the price. I paid 23.99 which puts it in the price range of the DBDB, which with all the added capability of the UDB, at roughly the same price is a no brainer. Much more expensive than that then your getting into the price range of products like Poker Genie, and the like. Which can do, for the most part, all of the things I would've liked to see from the UDB, and are still pretty portable. So look for the cheapest buy you can find for the UDB and you get yourself the best buy you can find for this product type.

I ordered this with the spade design. But what I got was a very PLAIN looking timer instead. I guess it will still work. . but I just wish merchants would use the correct pictures for what they actually SEND. This happened to us once before on Amazon.

This dealer button is exactly what I was looking for. There were lot's of times I had a pickup game and had to deal with trying to remember to keep track of the time on someone's watch, and remembering where we were after a break has caused some annoying issues.

This is the perfect solution to this issue. It even survives the expected Fidget factor. When I have played with this the buttons are easy to push but don't get accidentally pressed when fidgeting with it.

The best part is that it retains the time and blinds when you turn it off. It does take a while to setup the first set of blinds, but it's not that bad.

I have been playing poker for many years and I have always had the issue with timing the rounds and what the blinds were when it got late. We first started with the microwave timer and then switched to a dealer button with a timer in it, but we wanted more. The Ultimate Dealer Button is the best product out there for poker! We are so happy with it! It allows you to program your WHOLE tournament and it saves the information even when the unit is turned off! I highly recommend this great priced product.
