Works as advertised, very useful and portable - Reviewed on 2008-04-18

I bought this pump to inflate a 10'x6' swimming pool. It works as advertised, and has two interchangeable nozzles. I like that the nozzles are attached to the inflating adapter head, so that there's minimal risk of losing a needed adapter. The unit is not quiet, but not terribly loud, either. It sounds as loud as a vacuum cleaner, and when you're using it outside, it's not bad at all. Very portable and handy and price ($17) was great, too.
The unit comes with two charging methods: A 12-volt DC adapter that plugs into a DC outlet such as those in cars, and a household AC adapter. I was under the mistaken impression (my own fault) that you could run it while plugged into the household electrical outlet using the AC adapter, but that is not so. It needs to be charged before it can be used. The owner's manual says to charge it for ten (10!) hours using the AC adapter before using, or an hour via DC 12-volt power outlet. You can, however, run it powered by a DC source. Presumably, this means you can buy a $10 AC (household outlet) to DC 12-volt converter, and use it via the converter with household outlets.
The unit has two air ports, one for inflating and the other for deflating. The nozzle adapter that fits over the ports, while snug, will not stay on by itself and need to be held in place by hand. This was a minor annoyance, but not too bad.
For the price, size, and convenience, this is a very useful little pump.
Handy Pump! - Reviewed on 2007-09-24

We bought an inflatible queen sized mattress for camping (with the kids), and I quickly found out that to inflate this mattress takes more wind that I can easily provide during camp setup! So we bought this pump.
It comes with various adapters, so it will easily inflate any type of thing you need - like air mattresses, kiddie pools, kiddie slides, etc, etc. It has no attachements for inflating tires.
It comes with AC/DC converters, and a plug to run it off of the lighter from your boat or vehicle.
The one annoyance is that you have to charge it up, to use it. You cannot plug it into direct current and expect it to fire up and inflate - it must be left to charge - then can be used. This is a minor annoyance, but kept me from giving it 5 stars.
It is quite noisey to operate, but you don't need to wear hearing protection when it is running.
