Tackle soiled carpets and dusty hardwood floors with equal efficiency with this upright vacuum from the United Kingdom- based Dyson. The All Floors vacuum lives up to its name, catering to stairs, delicate rugs, linoleum, and shag carpeting. From Dyson’s innovative The Ball line, the vacuum actually rolls on a ball, twisting and turning 360 degrees. Dyson mounted the 10-amp motor within the ball for a low center of gravity and installed a pivoting 13-inch cleaner head to further enhance the vacuum’s superior mobility.

Crafted in ABS and polycarbonate materials, the vacuum fits under coffee tables and beds with a low profile head. The motorized brush bar benefits from a direct drive to aggressively dislodge embedded debris. For hard floors or delicate carpets, prevent scratching with the push-button brush bar shutdown. The vacuum’s Root-8 Cyclone technology powerfully sucks dirt through the spacious debris channel, depositing it in the transparent .71-gallon dustbin. The bin empties at the push of a button, requiring virtually no physical contact with its contents. The permanent, washable HEPA air filter ensures that collected allergens stay contained inside the vacuum while the vacuum releases air with 150 times less bacteria and mold. A built-in telescopic hose system allows the user to tend to stairs and curtains. Provided airflow nozzles assist in retrieving dust from crevices. The vacuum’s power cord spans 37 feet, with a 51-foot maximum vacuum reach. A 90-day manufacturer’s warranty covers this item. Made in Malaysia, the vacuum measures 13-2/3 by 11-2/5 by 44-1/10 inches and weighs approximately 20 pounds.

Product arrived as advertised promptly and in good condition.
Wife is very happy with her new vacuum.
Suction is good - Reviewed on 2008-10-03

Suction is good. Some minor defects and inconveniences found. Rear wheels are weak and broke down; switch broke too. Handyman skills a most when own this vacuum.
Absence of bags a plus. Ball is good if you're figure skating, otherwise not much difference.
Again: suction is good.

I have owned a Kirby for 30 years but have heard and read so many positive things about the Dyson that I decided to give it a try. It does have great suction and the dirt canister is very easy to empty. The accessories are self contained and easy to switch to. The vacuum is a bit heavy to maneuver, but I think it does a great job of cleaning. I can tell by looking at the nap of my carpet that it is really pulling up the dirt. I would recommend it.

You really don't know how dirty your house might be until you've used this vacuum. And just for sh@ts and giggles, I used my old vaccum on my living room carpet before I used the Dyson. Can I tell you that the Dyson picked up more stuff off the carpet using it second, to the old vacuum going first. The only downfall to this vacuum is it's a little heavy. But the hose that comes with it is plenty long enough to reach your entire stair case. And the turning is really just flick of the rist. If I can use this vacuum with just having had back surgury, and still have carpal tunnel I'm contending with, believe me, it's worth the money.
POWER House of a Machine! ... A few recommendations though. - Reviewed on 2008-09-24

This vacuum cleaner is really quite amazing. Mine arrived in brand new condtion although the hard floor attachment had a little dust on the brushes like it had been used before. Still everything else looked brand new.

It snapped together into shape very fast and this machine was fairly easy to quickly understand how to use with the exception of one thing for me. Every time I put my foot on the white foot pedal initially I could not get the vacuum to unlock from it's base so I could tilt it lower to start vacuuming. I would press and press with my feet and often times could not get it to release. I sometimes felt is was pushing way too hard with my foot to release the base from the wheel base, then I realized I didn't need to press hard at all on the foot pedal, but just needed to look about 4 inches above the white foot pedal when trying to release which is actually a silver bracket like portion of machine which extends upwards from wheels on back of vacuum. All you have to do while pressing on white pedal with foot is look upwards from pedal at silver bracket popping out enough to lean machine back to vacuum.

I also love the fact that this has a detachable handle to vacumm by hand with various attachments for stairs and other tight spots. I do find the hose can feel a little stiff at times when moving it different directions, but overall I think this is just a great machine with great suction. I have a cat and this has made my life much easier and I was previously using an upright Eureka which was about 20 years old and this just totally blows that one away.

The cosmetics of the machine remind me of something futuristic kind of like a martian kind of design as another reviewer mentioned I believe.
