Lets get the obvious out of the way, yes the game is overrated. With all of the hype and hope that went into this game, and with the responsibility of the beginning life of the 360 resting on its shoulders its going to be overrated. Ok, now for some actual reviewing. The graphics are gorgeous, although they did use some cheap tricks like pre-rendered backgrounds and only using three colors to make it look better than it really should, but it still gives the effect of looking good, which is all that really matters. The sound for the guns and explosions was good. For the life of me I can't even remember the music, which can't really be saying a good thing about it now can it? The storyline is kind of a ripoff of the two biggest shooters of our time. It is essentially Killzone meets Halo, but in all honesty its a shooter, story is nice to have, but is not a necessity. Plus these days, it is nearly impossible to come up with an idea that hasn't already been used. The action is pretty fun and the cover system works very well. There are some good deteriorating effects on the cover as well. The multi player is interesting at first, but gets boring fast. All in all I liked this game. If you want a solid, well put together shooter with nice graphics and a fun campaign, then I recommend you at least try it if you have a Xbox 360 or a good PC.

I got this game and wasnt sure if i would like it because i am a pretty big halo fan and i didnt think anything could be better. Gears of War definitly was. The boss battles are insane and the gameplay is absolutly stunning along with the graphics which look great. The online play isnt as great as halo but if youre in the mood for a "find cover and shoot" game like Gears of War is than youll definitly love the online play. The story is awesome because it drags you right in and wont let go. A must have for the xbox 360 owner.

As mentioned in my other GOW review, I prefer the first-person HUD perspective rather than over-the-shoulder. I did not like GOW as much as the Halo series.

Gears of War offers some of the best gameplay shooters have to offer and outclasses almost every shooter on the market(Except Bioshock). The gameplay is well-executed and Epic Games deserves a lot of props for this amazing game and how well is succeeds at nearly everything. The graphics are stunning and look very realistic, even during real-time. The gameplay is absolutely fantastic, the character designs are excellent, the creatures are really creepy, the environments look great, the missions are set up very well, the weapons are awesome, and it's a very challenging game. There are some issues however that I can't help but pick at. First off is the story, it's basically the same save the world from alien destruction story. Second, AI problems regarding teammates because they can get in the way of a dangerous enemy and get killed, causing you to fail your mission. And third, control issues regarding the the grenades you swing around and throw. These problems while noticeable(Especially when you're angry because your teammate died), don't do much to hamper your experience with one of the best shooters to date.

But this game is better then Halo 3. THERE!! I said it! You don't believe me? Get the game! In the tin box! (tin box=added bonus!)
