Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Album Description

Captain Jack Sparrow is back for more action and adventure on the high seas! Once again thrown into the world of the supernatural, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds out that he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones (Bill Nighy), captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. And as if this weren't enough, the captain's problems manage to wreck the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightly), who are forced to join Jack on yet another misadventure.

Soundtrack features original score by Hans Zimmer plus a bonus remix track by the world-renowned DJ Tiesto.

The soundtrack for the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie was infamous for having been whipped up rather hastily. For the sequel, Hans Zimmer takes the reins and comes up with his best effort in ages. Things start off with a nice cello theme for Johnny Depp's character, "Jack Sparrow." After that, it's high gear all the way, beginning with "The Kraken," on which Zimmer unleashes gales of symphonic aggro. Even when he closely follows what Hollywood execs clearly believe are set-in-stone rules for contemporary soundtracks, he throws in interesting wrenches. He does cram in both wailing female vocals and stomping percussion in "Dinner Is Served," but then the track abruptly turns into the kind of demented waltz you usually get from Danny Elfman. As usual with sequels, winks to the first movie pop in and out--the Black Pearl theme reappears in "I've Got My Eye on You" and "Hello Beastie"--but overall this album is more consistent. At least until you get to the final track, that is, a pounding offering by melodic-trance overlord DJ Tiƫsto. Pirates, wave your arms in the air like you just don't care. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Now, I loved the first PotC soundtrack but this one blew me away. Hanz Zimmer did a spectacular job on creating original tracks, along with mixing in the classic PotC theme and the Jack Sparrow theme. This is a must buy for any PotC fan or soundtrack fan.

I wasn't suprised to find Mr. Zimmer's name on the list for the second Pirates film. After all, he is the true source of the infamous tunes revealed in the first film and Klaus Badelt is practically related to Hans Zimmer. ;)
Badelt's contribution to the first film certainly opened up this new pirate music but Mr. Zimmer is more than capable of continuing it. And he did...if not three times better!
The album throughout is filled with swashbuckling, dark and sinister and downright funny music.
One of my favorites is Davy Jones' theme on the organ. One of the most ominous, sinister yet sad themes I've heard in a while.
A great addition to your soundtrack collection.

The music really took the movie to another level. You can hear the influence of Hans Zimmer. I love working out to this music and nothing pumps me up like hearing the song "He's a Pirate"!

i really like this soundtrack! the songs are really good and they really get stuck in your head. the only thing i don't like is the fact that some songs and even parts of some songs are loud and others are quiet. so it is a little difficult to listen to since you have to change the volume level, but they are still good songs.
