Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Product Description

Your Children Placate You From Premature Graves is the Legendary Pink Dots’ 25th anniversary album (and in the running for best album title ever). It’s hard to believe a quarter century has passed since the Pink Dots first unearthed their complex vision where fate and whimsy cast stones at each other on some hazy, polluted playground. LPD’s unusual legacy of psychedelia, industrial gloom, and textural madness has made them a constant presence on the innovative fringes of cult music, and has earned them near-universal respect from critics and peers. It was this legacy that shaped much of the album: The actual theme of "legacy", "the consequence of past and present action on the future", has consciously informed much of this release. In some ways, it's been a central-core-theme of all our songwriting these last 25 years. – Phil ‘The Silverman’ Knight Twenty-five years later, the Dots have hardly paused for a breath. Edward Ka-Spel, The Silverman and company (Niels Van Hoornblower, Raymond Steeg & returning member Martijn de Kleer), still make boundlessly weird, beautifully disturbing music.

Most recent, 2006 effort from the long-running Legendary Pink Dots. This is like their twenty-fifth record (not counting compilations) and it seems that Edward Ka-Spel and crew hasn't lost a beat. Tunes here that I, personally liked best were "No Matter What You Do", the sedate "Peace Of Mind", the well played "The Made Man's Manifesto" and "Silver Thread". Couldn't help but to notice the Silverman's {aka Phillip Knight} electronic wizardry on the keyboards. His work has never disappointed me on any Dots release. I saw the band play a club on this very tour just before Syd Barrett's death and even before Syd had passed, I kept thinking how much Ka-Spel as well as the entire band reminded me so much of the missed Pink Floyd founder.

25th anniversary! But they're still putting out excellent albums. In fact, there's so much material I can't keep the older albums straight. That's okay, just rotate them into itunes on occasion.

I think this is a wonderful Dots album. Does anyone know if Ka-Spel is religious? I'm kinda confused about the Jesus reference. I don't care for religion so i'd really be bummed out. Still a great album.

Excellent, another classic Dots album.. they`re best album since `All The Kings Horses` (2002) and they`re strangest album since `Malachai`(1992).
For fans of: Pink Floyd, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Coil, Current 93, Nurse With Wound, Thighpaulsandra and other interesting and original musick way out there..
