Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Product Description

True to LEKI's commitment to durability and performance, the Tour Cor-Tec Antishock trekking poles are built with the rugged reliability you've come to expect from LEKI poles. Tour Cor-Tec Antishock trekking poles feature LEKI's Triple Spring Antishock System (TSA) that reduces stress on the joints, muscles and ligaments. An internal spring absorbs the impact each time the pole strikes the gound. LEKI embeds the spring in the shaft, which keeps the spring cleaner, requiring less maintenance. The spring can also be set at mid-range or turned off completely for more effective climbing. LEKI's Cor-Tec grip is made from 80% natural ground cork and 20% latex making it lightweight, strong and comfortable. The one-touch flip tab P2 Strap System adjusts on the fly to provide additional security, comfort and wrist support. The carbide flex tip deflects up to 30 degrees without damaging the lower pole section. This reduces the risk of pole breakage if the pole should get caught between rocks or tree roots on the trail. The trekking baskets are interchangeable with a simple screw on/off design that stays secure. With optional snowflake and deep powder baskets, Tour Cor-Tec Antishock poles can be converted for snowshoeing. As testament to the strength and longevity of LEKI's designs, the Tour Cor-Tec Anti-shock trekking poles include LEKI's lifetime warranty for shaft breakage.

About LEKI

LEKI, the world’s leading manufacturer of ski, hiking and trekking poles, had its start in Kircheim, Germany as a hobby of its founder, Karl Lenhart, an airframe mechanic and avid skier. Lenhart believed aluminum would make a superior ski pole compared to the heavy steel models available in the late 1940’s. After successfully creating lightweight poles for his friends, in 1954, the hobby became a full time business. LEKI originated the use of nylon webbing for straps and created plastic molded grips and baskets in place of metal and leather. Additionally, Lenhart developed an aluminum tempering process that produces pole shaft with incomparable strength, durability, and reliability.

In 1984, Klaus Lenhart, Karl’s son, assumed leadership and shortly there after developed the first dual-component grip. He is also responsible for improving adjustable pole-locking technology and grip innovations such as the Trigger Click-In system and COR-TEC, a material made of real cork and latex. As the ski market continued to flourish, LEKI began manufacturing hiking poles primarily for European mountain guides. The concept of using two poles as means of relieving stress on knee joints and the lower back appealed to climbers who also saw benefits in performance and safety. LEKI poles eventually caught on with the general hiking and trekking population that recognized and appreciated the preventive health benefits as well as the climbing support and stabilizing effects. In 1990, LEKI USA was incorporated. The North American market has embraced the company’s line of alpine, Nordic, back country, mountaineering, Nordic walking, and trekking poles. Like their European counterparts who have been loyal to LEKI for nearly five decades, North American outdoor enthusiasts know and appreciate LEKI quality and value.

I bought these as a replacement to my old Leki poles. I'm pretty rough with them, and they can take it. My only complaint is with the wrist straps-- these come with a locking mechanism so you can adjust the straps and make them tighter, which is nice for small hands like mine. But, I found that the locking mechanism would come loose when the straps were pulled, and that caused the poles to slip right off my wrists. Not good when you're bushwacking your way across a steep montane forest. I'll probably just superglue the locks down.

I'd never used hiking poles before I got these, but I feel naked without them now. Heading uphill, they can be shortened so one essentially does 4-point hiking without getting dirty. Downhill, they can be lengthened. They can be shortened and stuck in a backpack (sticking out the top) for hiking rope sections or rock faces where you need two hands free. I don't use them on flat ground although many people do.
If you're new to trail poles, this is about the price point to buy as a first pair. The cheapest models are not anti shock and one would quickly get tired of using them.

Used these on a recent vacation and they worked wonderfully. On the trail I shared them with the rest of the group, just for them to try, then I couldn't get them back ! Highly recommended.
