My son loves it but shoddy craftsmanship - Reviewed on 2008-08-11

My son loves this toy and plays with it still...over a year after receiving it.

That said, we ended up giving it to him with the slide not attached and the shoe not attached. We threw those in the closet when we assembled it because they were poorly constructed and would not stay attached at all.

As I said, since I put it together before my son saw it, I elected to just scrap those items and not let him know they existed and so he has been very happy with it all together though.

The pop up items inside (especially the artist easel) stopped working after about 2 months or so, but everything other than those things noted work fine.
So what if pieces come off? -Put them back on, then! - Reviewed on 2008-07-15

I actually bothered to read the "assembly" pamphlet that came with the toy when I took it out of the box. It CLEARLY states, "PLEASE NOTE: Front door & slide are meant to breakaway if dropped or twisted, to prevent damage to playset. If pieces come off, reposition." If upon reading this you take it seriously and decide it isn't worth the impending hassle, RETURN IT. Otherwise, if you decide to keep it, expect these pieces to come off, and then if it really gets on your nerves... there is something known as PVC cement! :)

I bought the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for my 2.5 year old son and he just loves it. The slide and the boot do come off easily as noted but it doesn't bother me or him at all, I just pop it back on. What DOES bother me is the following:
#1. For $40 the set should have came with more characters. I can't believe that the only option is to purchase multiple other playsets and in order to do get the ones we need he would end up with like 3 or 4 Mickeys. Ridiculous.
#2. It is EXTREMELY loud for a battery operated toy. None of our other battery op toys bother me but this one is insane, my husband and I just can't believe how loud it is. We might have to take the batteries out.

Other than those 2 problems it is a great toy, my son couldn't be happier. I am glad that I purchased it.

I wish they made toys like this when I was a kid. The characters talk to each other. The mousekedoer lights up when mickey says his magic words. Every character you place in the stand speaks not just one but up to seven phrases. The kitchen and an art stand pops out when lever is moved. A lot of people think this toy doesn't do much but sure beats a plastic cup that provides endless amusement to toddlers. We have to remember they come equipped with enormous imagination. My 15 month old played with it all day when it arrived, immediately she learned to speak the phrases she heard from Mickey. About the slide and the foot part of the clubhouse, if you read the manufacturer's note it says that they are meant to come off easily to protect the body of the unit if accidentally dropped. Think broken pieces of plastic=choking hazard. The doors may also come off, but it is also a safety feature. The first time my daughter played with the toy I had it on the floor, She tripped and fell. Her face hit the door of the head, good thing it snapped off. If it was sturdier than what it is my baby would have been hurt. The doors are easy to snap back on, I dont know why one of the reviewers thrashed the toy when doors came off. One reviewer complained about the stickers. He placed the round sticker on wrong spot, the outside of the head instead of the flat interior part. I think this is a well executed Toy, they really thought hard about safety. I had issues about the slide coming off but after I place the toy on top of a table which is eye level height for my toddler she managed to play with it without breaking the slide. As long as they can't grab hold of the carry handle and drag it across the room. The slide and the foot stays pretty much secured. So what if it comes off once in awhile. Gives them a learning opportunity to put things back together. To call "toodles" and help them fix it with an imaginary glue stick. This should be part of the educational fun rather than a nuisance. Why do we think Legos are fun? The show is based on problem solving and fixing things anyway! My daughter learned to put the slide back on and she's just a toddler! At times, my daughter even enjoys playing with the shoe and the slide as a separate unit. So, parents, what's the big deal? This is one sturdy toy. Highly recommended to toddlers but even I enjoy playing with it and I'm 39. My teenager also loves it. The only thing I wish it does is sing/play the Hotdog song which my baby really loves. But that's okay, my baby and I will do the singing part. We'll even dance with them. "We've got ears...say cheers!"

This is all my 3 year wanted for Christmas last year. I don't think it's worth the cost at all. It doesn't really keep either of my boys attention for long at all. The pieces that came with it are never with the toy. The slide that attaches to it is such a poor design that it doesn't stay on for more than 2 minutes when they do play with it Also the way it opens is too hard for my 1 and a half year old to do himself so he is constantly bringing the whole thing to me to open. I would not recommend this toy at all.
