Cuts more than just branches - Reviewed on 2008-09-24

These blades are great for any type of wood. As long as the branch/wood isn't overly flexible, they will cut it! Tough Milwaukee quality. Makes backyard work a breeze.

Milwaukee 6509-22 Sawzall 11 Amp Reciprocating Saw

I purchased this saw on the recommendation of a male coworker. I used it today and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use. It is light weight and easy to control. It made the job of cutting up my small tree limbs an easy task. Since many types of blades are available I am sure I will find all kinds of uses for it.
Sturdy and well designed - Reviewed on 2008-07-17

These blades are very sturdy and durable, and generally well designed for the task. Blades stay pretty sharp even after extensive use. I have sawed my way through about 20 willow tree shoots measuring 2 to 3 inches in diameter, and about 20 feet tall, and I'm still using my first saw blade. All of that cutting included sawing the limbs into 12-inch lengths for later use in my wood stove.

I am disappointed in the Miluakee SawZall I purchased, mistakenly thinking that a sawZall was a SawZall. However, that is the subject of a different review. The sawZall model I purchased only has a 6 AMP motor and only has a .75" stroke. That combination makes for very slow cutting in anything (wood, metal etc.). I purchased these wood pruning blades in hopes of cutting wood logs to proper length for my fireplace faster. These blades have very coarse teeth (around 5TPI) and the teeth are deeper and more iregular (like a chainsaw) than a typical wood cuting SawZall blade. This does speed up cutting in wood a little. However, there is not a lot of difference (in cutting speed) between these and a bi-Metal wood blade with 6 TPI that I've used before. If your looking for the last ounce of cutting speed, these are a good bet. However, these blades cost about twice what a good 12" 6TPI bi-metal wood blade can be bought for at Home Depot (these blades are only 9" long). A pack of (10) 12" bi-metal blades costs under $20, about what 5 of these blades cost. The speed improvement is marginal. Also, the Bi-Metal blade can be used to cut wood with nails, these blades can't be used on wood containing nails.
