I gave this toaster as a Christmas gift for my family. My mother loves it. My father is much happier with the toast now. It does a great job with bread and bagels. Things are quickly and evenly toasted. The bread slots are big, but the cradles in the slots hold you put in them quite well. The bread or bagel pops up high enough to make getting it out of the toaster easy and away from hot surfaces. The controls feel solidly constructed and easy to use. The chassis is very sturdy. This toaster is easy to keep clean. The way this one is built means it should wear well over the years. It was quick and easy to register the toaster's warranty with the manufacturer (no intrusive marketing questions).

I like everything about this toaster, however, even on the highest setting it doesn't harden my english muffin. You would think that it would burn it on the 9 setting but it's still soft and not brown at all. For normal size pieces of bread it toasts much better. I accidentaly left the setting high from when I put the muffin in and the bread burnt. I have yet to try a bagel. Also, the slats are not long enough for wider than normal slices of bread, so artisan bread you buy will have to be crammed in.

Twenty years ago you might have bought a toaster that did the job. Lately I have bought three toasters and have not been pleased with them. I finally read the reviews and purchased this toaster. I could not be happier! The instruction book was very clear and easy to understand. I love the fact that the entire bread toasts evenly and is good and hot when you take it out. It also has a warmer if your toast gets cold! The
special bagel toaster toasts the inside of the bagel where you want it but gently toasts the outside for a nice effect. This toaster is no larger than the other 4 slice toaster I had. I wish I had saved the money of the less expensive brands and just bought this one to begin with!

We were eager to receive this new toaster as our 10 year old 2-slice toaster finally bit the dust. It's a nice looking appliance and blends in well. Though it takes up a lot of counter space. From the get-go we didn't like the way it toasted bagels, even after hitting the mystery bagel button (which we are convinced is just for show). Tops cook more than bottoms - go figure. This we could live with, but after only 6 weeks the lever on one side broke! And we are by no means rough on the toaster. In the process of contacting customer service to request replacement or refund. I'm thinking to go back to our old style - cheap, basic toaster but gets the job done. This toaster was just plain DISAPPOINTING.
