Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions
Album Description
An elegant and legendary vocal superstar, four-time Grammy honoree Roberta Flack's unmistakable delivery wraps a timeless R&B sound with beautiful flourishes of jazz, pop and soul. She first climbed to the top of the charts with her definitive version of "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." The very next year, "Killing Me Softly," her first duet with the late, great Donnie Hathaway took the same prize, and also hit #1. Also featuring her hit-making collaborations with Peabo Bryson and Maxi Priest, as well as many selections on which she shines solo, this must-have collection spotlights Flack's masterful song interpretation and rich emotional resonance.

Awesome! - Reviewed on 2008-10-01
I'm actually listening to this right now, and it's a CD that's been on my mind lately as I recently rediscovered her song "'Till the Morning Comes", which I played for my girlfriend the other night because I anticipated it would so greatly resonate with her. I bought this CD really only being aware of Roberta's hits "Killing Me Softly", "Where is the Love", "Feel Like Making Love", and after purchasing realized I was familiar with great tunes like "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love", and "The Closer I Get To You". If someone told me that this was part of her 20 best songs (17/20) then I'd certainly believe it. I've come to enjoy the rest of the songs on the CD, and there's great variety in tone, mood, and actual lyrical content--majorly revolving around love and passion themes that you'd expect from this talented soulful woman, but also contains in part commentary on life like in "Trade Winds", which I'd call Flack's participation in the genre of music like Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues", "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Me", and "What's Going On". Of the romantic love songs she touches upon many facets to that dynamic tangle that is love. Consider "Only Heaven Can Wait (For Love)", where she shares the confusing and conflicted yearnings that result from a love that's become overripe. This album crosses many other things but I'll try not to flood a mass of information. I highly enjoy this CD, it's one of the one's I'll return to from time to time again and again. Oh one last thing, it's a fantastic mood setter ;)
