So far the best vacuum I've used. - Reviewed on 2009-06-14

I've used several vacuum's ranging from $100-$300 (retail price, new) and I've always thought a vacuum is just a vacuum. Everyone I've talked to raves about their Dyson or that they know someone who owns one and loves it. I just moved into a new apartment so I wanted to get something good to keep the carpet clean especially since I have a cat now.

I wasn't sure about getting a remanufactured but after doing the research, I felt this was my best option for my budget. Needless to say, it's outstanding!

The vacuum arrived 2 days after I moved into the apartment. I immediately opened everything and was very happy to see that it looked brand new. No scratches, nothing. I proceeded to vacuum the entire apartment (1200 sq ft) to see if I could pick up anything the professional carpet cleaners didn't get. Wow! I was astonished at how much it picked up. I reached the full mark on the canister 2 times and vacuumed a third time to make sure everything was clean now and it was. Maybe the pro. guys need to buy a Dyson?

It's been about 2 months so far and I've vacuumed about once per week. I'm always shocked at how much hair and dirt it picks up. I think of myself as a clean person but this vacuum makes me wonder, lol. At least it's cleaning it all up!

The attachments are awesome and work very well. I don't sweep any more now that I can use the hard floor attachment which works great to clean up cat litter that our cat gets all over the floor sometimes. The mini rotary brush was very impressive to me. On other vacuums that I've used the rotary brush attachments sometimes stop if it is touching the surface to be cleaned too much (which happens from the suction) but not this one. This one cleans really well and hasn't stopped once from too much pressure. It even works on regular carpet without stopping. It's just like having a miniature sized vacuum which makes it really easy to clean furniture, the car, and other things.

1. Much more quiet than many other vacuums I've used.

2. Very, very easy to move around. It hardly takes any effort.

3. Auto adjusts to the carpet level and it works great. I love it.

4. Very easy to use attachments, empty the canister, etc. No hassle at all.

5. The suction is fantastic and it picks up more dirt, dust and hair from the carpet than I knew accumulated over a 1 week period of time.

6. The attachment hose is far easier to use than any other vacuum I've used. It is plenty long enough and doesn't pull the vacuum along with it.

It might be a little pricey for your budget, but you pay for quality and performance. This has both and I'm very happy I spent the extra money on it.
Can't beat it for the price! - Reviewed on 2009-06-08

This is a fabulous vacuum! Why anyone would pay full price for one of these when you can buy factory refurbished for this price is beyond me. Ours came quickly and there was absolutely no sign that it had ever been used. It has more suction than I ever thought possible for a vacuum! We have 2 long-haired cats and a 70-lb short-haired dog that shed like crazy and no other vacuum can compare to the Dyson in tackling our house! We have around 2700 sq feet of carpet of several different lengths in our house and it does equally well on all types. Have to be careful with area rugs because the suction is soooo powerful though! One nice feature is with this vacuum you do not have to adjust anything for different lengths of carpet, it is automatic. You can turn the brush off to do hardwood floors, etc. and this works great too. The mini-turbine head is a must for pet owners to clean off couches, etc. It does a great job on stairs also and so nice that the hose is long enough to reach to the top of the stairs! The mini-turbine has a great function that allows you to turn the brush off, so I am able to use it on our bedspread, etc. also to suck the hair off without damaging it. Overall, great buy. You will not regret this purchase and you will be amazed with how much you pull out of your carpets even if you think they are clean... Easy function to empty canister too. Dyson really thought this through well.
One of the best purchases I made (Dyson DC14 Complete) - Reviewed on 2009-04-22

I bought a new "Dyson DC14 Complete" vacuum cleaner in Nov 2007 on sale from another retailer (Best Vacuum). In addition to the cleaner and the standard attachments (crevice tool, stair cleaning tool, and the soft bristle brush), it came with the Car Kit, the Low Reach Floor Tool, the Flexi Crevice Tool, and the Soft Dusting Brush as bonus items. Although I paid quite a more than what is advertized here, I think I made the best decision on a vacuum cleaner purchase.

I bought Hoover and Bissell cleaners before (both bagged and bagless). None of those were more than $120. They lasted 2/3 years each, but either lost the suction, or started disintegrating. Eventually, I decided to take a chance on Dyson. I looked at Oreck, too, but the cost of bags, service, and maintenance eventually adds up.

I was a little skeptic about the durability of this product and about the "Lifelong Hepa Filter" claim. Most of it is made of plastic, so the skepticism is natural. However, after using it for over an year and a half, I am convinced that the claims are true. I have to admit that like many other appliances and electronics I bought, I never bothered to read the manual. A couple of days ago, I decided to read it and clean my vacuum. I was amazed at the intelligent and thoughtful design of this masterpiece. Unlike other brand of vacuum cleaners, this one has much fewer weak spots where it can break down (of course, if you take good care of it according to instructions). It became almost new again after taking some parts apart and clening or washing them. I clean the rotating brush frequently off hair to keep it moving.

It's a joy to clean stairs, corners, sofa/loveseats and other hard to reach places with the detachable wand. The extension hose is long enough for average stairs and inside cars (compared to other brands I used), and the electric cord is long enough to cover 2/3 rooms. The soft dusting brush comes handy for cleaning furniture, fan blades, or blinds. I don't think all these attachments are necessary (just a way for Dyson to make more $$), but the remanufactured one here is a very good value with whatever it comes with. I thought of giving it a 4 * for the high price, but the satisfaction is well woth the extra money I paid on initial purchase, especially if it proves to be one of the best products in its class (durable and fun to operate).

We saw the commercials. We looked at our carpets. We bought the Dyson. The primarily reason was its claims of being a good solution for pet hair and its ability to not get clogged. We were certainly tired of taking apart our previous vacuum to clear out clogs, so we were sold. We have two dogs who love to shed. And the Dyson does a wonderful job of cleaning up behind them - with very little hassle. It's super quiet, and its suction power is amazing. It's very quiet and the hose is plenty long for the stairway and strong enough to avoid tears. And it is certainly the lightest upright vacuum we've owned. It's easy to clean seeing as it is a bagless unit, and it's filter mechanism keeps dust from spraying everywhere when you clean up finer dirt or powders.

We only dock it a star (we'd prefer a half star) because some of its components are a little weak and have broken on our unit - e.g., the power cord hook.

Overall, it is an awesome vacuum and well worth the investment.

I was very wary of getting a refurbished item, but my husband convinced me and I'm so pleased! It arrived with all of the parts, was easy to assemble, and does an awesmome job! I have two extra stairs on my staircase and I can still get to all of them with the hose! I occasionally get the buzzing vibrations described in the reviews, but it's only when I'm using it on a loose rug. Overall I'm exceptionally pleased.
