I admit that I am a closet kitchen utensil freak and have several of the Henckels brand knives along with other gourmet cooking ware close at hand. There are but a few brands I trust enough to buy sight unseen and this bread knife did not fail to measure up. It's fairly heavy compared to the one it replaced and works much faster and accurately even on very thin slices without leaving crumbs dispersed in a 5 foot radius. It may seem like a lot of money for a knife that does one thing (cut bread) but keep in mind that if you always hand wash it then dry it and don't cut tin cans with it, it will always serve you well, be a pleasure to use and your kids will fight over it when you're gone.

This is an offset bread knife which is exactly what I wanted. It's a very good knife. It cuts even the crustiest of breads, but for me, personally, with arthritic hands, the offset just isn't as deep as I would have liked. But I didn't know I would need a deeper offset when I bought it. So, for anyone else I give this knife 5 stars-it is perfect in balance and weight and length.

So sharp I almost cut my cutting board in half!! Love it!!
