The Very Best of Jodeci - Reviewed on 2008-09-30
I have had this CD Back to the Future, The very best of Jodeci for 2 years now. I am 20 years old and I always knew of Jodeci, but I knew more of and more about K-Ci and JoJo who orignally started out as Jodeci with other members. This album is so GREAT!!! When I first bought it, I only listened to Forever My Lady and Come and Talk To Me because the other songs I never really sat and listened to until I went out of town. When I realized how great this old hits were, I couldn't believe that I only used to listed to 2 of the 16 songs on the CD! This album is as fresh and divergent as the past albums because this album is all of the past albums mixed together as 1 album.
What amazes me the most about this group is that they started out so young, but with voices and determination so strong and so mature. From the sound of K-Ci's voice, anyone could tell that he obviously grew up singing gospel in the church. I promise that even to this day, I don't believe there is a R&B singer that sounds as great as this group.
Their first single, "Forever My Lady" hit the scene in 1991 describing how it feels to be in love, having a family, and having that fairy tale come true. Jodeci always showed love for the ladies and were always willing to get down on their bended knee for love no matter what the situation. This was definitely their trademark along with K-Ci singing "Ooo Yeah", in every song. Comparing "Forever My Lady" to "Get On Up", which was one of the groups last singles that came out in 1996. This was a fresh and positive song for everybody no matter what age or gender. Just have fun and live life to the fullest. Most lyrics of most songs from Jodeci are all about love, relationships, and meeting that special someone for the first time. Music is just so hard to explain sometime that the best way to explain is just to listen to it.
I'm so into this group though they are no longer making music because everything they had to sing about was so raw, real, uncut and what these men had to sing about is what most women would love to hear from their man. Their voices blow me away and they never get old to me. Every song sung by these men was heartfelt and they put their foot into their music.
In my opinion, I can't really compare these men to no other men's singing group. There were other men groups out at the time such as Blackstreet, Boyz II Men, or Dru Hill. If I had to compare which I really do, I would say by the soulful voices they had, they could remind you of Dru Hill especially Cisco, which is the lead singer. When these men sing, you can just feel it in your soul and stays there. Compared to today's artist I don't really hear any music that touches my heart.
