Worst coffee I ever tasted! - Reviewed on 2008-12-02

This machine makes the worst coffee I have ever tasted! I tried everything, even bought other brands of pods. I tried more pods with less water, more water with less pods, there was no way I could get a drinkable cup of coffee. It tastes like dirty socks every time. I can't even drink it, I have to spit it out. I don't understand how it gets good reviews. Either I got a defective machine or I have been drinking good coffee for too long, so I can't tolerate mediocre ocffee. I am so disappointed because I thought this would be a fast no muss way to get one cup of coffee.
nifty little machine for the most part - Reviewed on 2008-02-16

I'm really happy with this. It is quick and easy to make one or two small cups. My only real complaint is the quality of the coffee in the pods. It's decent, but not as good as buying fresh beans or ground coffee, and the pods cost twice as much as bulk coffee. (One cool thing is that the coffee is strong and has a notable froth, similar to a real espresso). I use mine in the office, where even with the high-priced pods I still save compared to buying brewed coffee outside. I've also found that I can throw in tea bags and make a quick, strong cup of tea (no froth, there, though!).
I knew the coffee was expensive when I bought the unit, but I also knew about an aftermarket product that allows you to bypass the pods and use your own ground coffee. To my chagrin, when I bought that product, it did not fit this particular model! (I suspect that Philips/Senseo is staying a step ahead of them!)

I tried my sister's Senseo coffee machine and really liked the coffee. It's not quite as good as my espresso/cappuccino machine, but not a bad second. It's super fast and easy. Even my HUSBAND can use it. I bought it to have at our vacation home where I didn't want to spend the money for a high end espresso machine. The only glitch was that the first machine I received leaked all over the counter and I had to pack it up and return it. I called about it and was treated very nicely--no questions asked. I received my new machine very soon and it works like a charm. I feel it's a very good value. The pods aren't overly expensive--certainly much less than coffee from your local coffee shop. I would definitely recommend this machine

I am actually quite fond of using this machine every morning. I make myself one everyday... but I do have some criticisms. I have to use 2 pods each time, making an average sized amount of coffee, certainly not enough to fill a travel mug. This is definitely going to be pricier than your average coffee maker.

The unit is noisy. This really isn't a huge deal, as it's not loud enough to wake anyone, but wow, it really does vibrate when it starts to dispense.

The coffee is hot, but it is not as hot as I would like, considering when I add cream, it is really not hot enough to sustain true hotness. I've had to microwave my coffee immediately after brewing it, because my cream was too cold and I added too much.

They do sell reusable pods, and I think this fact will be the saving grace of this machine... I hope to overcome the cost of the rapid pod usage this way.

The best part of this machine is that it is quick. I have a cup of coffee ready for me in under 2 minutes. Cleanup is extra easy, especially since there are not a lot of parts. I'm not wasting leftover coffee anymore... although I do admit I wish I could brew just a bit more at once.

Love the ease of making coffee and the clean up is a snap. I have the 2 cup maker and if I have company it is a little costly using extra pods. A carafe is important if you have company so you can make extra coffee ahead.
