If your reading this, you may be wondering if you should buy this game. If not then go do something else buddy.
well the good things about this game i'm gonna list below.
1. There are a good variety of tracks, and they have different difficulty for each one.(just not a listed difficulty)
2. There is a good variety of cars, and if you like to customize, Nintendo did a good job on this. You can change the color of the cars, but if you change the body... you can't change the color again unless you change the body again.
3. If your into games like burnout and need for speed etc. Then this is a good game for you. I wouldn't say that this game is as good as those, but come on, its on the ds, and the DS is a handheld not a stand alone console. They did do a good job with the boosts.
4. Multiplayer. There is a good multiplayer part to this game, its fastpaced and you can have more than one person to go against.
now i'll write the bad things about this game... there aren't that many as you may have guessed by my game rating.
1. the cars... for some reason, the wheels on every car don't spin. They don't spin at all, how do i know this you may ask... that is because you turn on racing games. You end up seeing the side of the cars. The wheels move to show what direction your going in, but they don't spin.
2. Multiplayer. There happens to only be multicard play for this game. Which if you own a ds and have played with others for sure know that. Another bad part about the multiplayer is, that you can only use the cars that you have earned in the arcade mode. Oh by the way to get the cars beat the first thing... i don't remember its name but there are more than one race in each. and a car class.
3. the speed. One problem if you actually look at how fast your going... is that the most expensive car lamborgini marcielgo something isn't even the fastest car. its some car thats like half the price when its fully upgraded...
well i just hope that you thought that this review was a good one.
all around pointless - Reviewed on 2005-12-11

Now before you start screaming at me, I like racing games. But this one was terrible. 10 levels and 25 cars, not very good if you ask me. Now I wasn't expecting a excellent game that would knock my socks off, but come on. the controls were clunky and the limited variation in the soundtrack didn't help much. You need about 7 cars to beat the game, and the fact that there's turbo completely messes up the point of racing games that aren't destruction derbies. This was would have been better if once you got a lamborghini you weren't home free with the game. The fact that there are real cars doesn't do a darn thing if you have turbo which can make you go over 200 MPH without hardly trying, even in a hummer. Now I'm not saying "GO BUY RIDGE RACERS!!!" but seriously this game isn't really all it's supposedly worth. Here is a rating on a scale of one to ten
Sound---2/10
The fact that you could use some second hand music program on the computer to make the music is pretty lame, the SFX are basicly what a three year old would do to make a car noise and some cars honking at you that sound like dying water-buffalos.
Graphics---2/10
Seriously, the graphics are what you would expect from a game for the SNES {super nintendo entertainment system} and oncoming traffic looks like a drawing that a toddler could do.
Gameplay---2/10
The camera angles aren't bad but the controls are terrible. you use the B button to accelerate and the A button to brake. not to mention the fact that when you fly off the road into some restaurant or something like that, nothing really happens. you just slow down for something like a tenth of a second. Then you just go on going 200 MPH in a Hummer.
Difficulty---1/10
This game takes five minutes to learn, and 2 hours to beat. Pretty easy.
Multiplayer--1/10
Not very fun for multiplayer. Some games have worse, but this is still "wanting to bash your head in with a marsupial" boring.
Overall---1/10
I think this is the worst arcade racing game I've ever played and I've been playing games for 7 years.
Afterthoughts
For people who like this game think what you want, I can't force you to hate this game, but seriously I think if you want a portable racing game you would be better off forgetting that urge and getting a stationary console racing game- I would suggest Forza Motor Sport for Xbox or Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2.
