Setting 5 = 1/2 inch, setting 4 = 3/8 inch, setting 3 = 1/4 inch, setting 2 = 3/16 inch, setting 1 = 1/8 inch. After seeing others reviews, I chose to use a disposable shaver for the clean bikini line, etc. but as a trimmer & shape this does a fantastic job! Really does work both dry & in the shower. I feel very safe using it with the adjustable guard on - NO ONE should be trimming with scissors while this great product is available, it's worth every penny!

I only really use it as a "down there" groomer and it works great. However, at the shortest guard level, I've nipped myself a couple times but not majorly. On closer inspection after being nipped, the trimmer's teeth are pointed... so I wouldn't recommend using it without the guard at all or on the shortest level near skin that might be a little loose.

All in all, I've used it for a couple years on the shower and it's still going strong. A wise purchase.

after using my boyfriend's shaver for over a year, i decided it was time to buy my own. i bought this remington and used it only once-- i will never use it again! i tried using it without the guard and it completely cut me up! i plan on getting the same kind my boyfriend had instead!! (the norelco bodygroom FOR MEN- it does a much gentler job!)

This thing is great! It's so easy to use, and you don't have to worry about wasting batteries because you can just plug it in to charge it!

i really like it you don't get razor bumps and its very soft on the skin
