I was first introduced to this game while on holiday in America.
It was then given to me as a Christmas present and the whole family has not stopped having fun with it.
I have spread the Phase 10 word and there are now many houses around Ireland enjoying the game too!

The Phase 10 card game is a big hit at my family gatherings. It's a game that can be played -- and enjoyed -- by everyone. Younger family members can easily understand the basics of the game while adult family members are able to use strategy (wild cards, skip cards) to keep the game interesting for them. The game is easy enough that even Senior members of the family can play, which helps to strengthen and reinforce their cognitive skills. I've give copies of Phase 10 to just about everyone in my family. We simply love it!! The only problem with the game is that we play it so often, our cards wear out!!

We played this game with a group of 6 people and I think our game went close to 2.5 to 3 hours. It was fun and drew lots of laughs. We hauled out the snacks about half way through.

On the downside, if someone gets stuck on a phase for several hands they can start to get frustrated because their points just keep mounting (object is to have the lowest score).

On the plus side, the scoring is WILD! You can literally have someone move from fourth to first place in a single hand, which really keeps the game interesting even if you're unfortunate enough to get stuck on a particular phase for 5 or 6 rounds.

We will haul this game out again during the holidays, but there may be one or two people who bow out just because they don't want to sit at the kitchen table for two hours to play a single card game.

THE OBJECT:

Each round you must meet a certain requirement (phase). For example, you may be required to get a run of 4 cards plus 3 of a kind.

If you complete the phase during the current hand, you will move onto the next phase on the next hand, which may be 7 cards all the same color.

Unfortunately, if you don't complete the phase, you will be trying to complete it again during the next hand. This is how you can get 'stuck' on a phase.

In a group of six players, you could literally have 6 people trying for 6 different phases during a single hand.

When someone completes Phase 10 the game ends and the points are tallied. Winner has the least points.

I originally played this game with my best friend and fell in love with it so I bought it to play with my nine year old brother and we both absolutely love this game. It is so much fun! I recommend this game to anyone who loves to play card games.

I started playing this game a couple of years ago when my aunt, uncle and parents introduced it to me. It took some time to learn the phases, but there is a help card explaining the different phases. Now I that I know all the rules and phases, it can be frustrating to teach a new player. Once they get the hang of it, though, they'll have a blast.
