First toy my two year olds run to each morning - Reviewed on 2008-07-10

So far so good. My two year old son runs to this toy first thing each morning when he wakes up and starts playing with it. My daughter wakes up around thiry minutes after him and they begin the morning at the work bench together. Breakfast and fighting soon follow, but the work bench has nothing to do with it.

I bought this toy when my son was about 14 months old. He's a little guy so he could barely reach the top of the table, but he improvised by grabbing a box toy and using it as a step stool. From that point on, it quickly became his favorite. He pounds on it with the hammers, and gets the screws to turn. Pounds down on the nails. He pounds on everything and yet looking at it you would think it's new. We bought extra tools to go with it. He's 2 now and it's still a toy he plays with EVERY day!!!With a little brother on the way, I'm sure this workshop will get a lot of use and abuse and still look like new. well built and easy to put together.
Great Tool Bench - Reviewed on 2007-03-10

We bought this tool bench over a year ago for our home daycare and especially for my 2 year old nephew. It is still one of the kids favorite toys. It's true that it doesn't have a lot of storage for other tools you may have, but a small tote fixed that problem. I like that it has a lot of space to store all of the extra screws and bolts(even storage on top which is out of the younger kids' reach). A few other reviews said that the tool bench didn't come with enough things to do. I agree with that but I found a great solution. I went to Step2's website(yes, a different brand) and ordered a set of their foam building blocks. They even come with extra screws and bolts and inctructions on making foam toys such as airplanes and cars. These are a great companion to this tool bench and completely worth the extra money! I think this tool bench is a lot more attractive than the Step2 tool bench anyway. It has great colors, and the plastic peg board is just too cute. With the new pieces, my 4 year old niece now loves to "build" with the tool bench as much as the boys do! I would definately buy this again.
Looks nice but needs more - Reviewed on 2007-02-23

I was really excited for my son to get this workbench until we opened it up and put it together. It has four holes to put nails and screws in, not nearly enough. My son uses it a table more than a workbench. You can only screw into the same hole so many times before it becomes uninteresting. The vice is very weak and doesn't hold anything very well. You also have to push down very hard on the fake wood to get it to make the noise when uses the cutting device. I would recommend looking around at a different workbench. The old little tikes workbench was great this one needs lots of work.
