Curls don't last very long in Asian hair - Reviewed on 2009-01-08

I bought this product based on the great reviews. It's always a challenge to curl my long, straight, coarse Asian hair, but I thought I would give these curlers a try.

They're easy enough to use. I have no complaints about the clicking noise when it's on the ionic setting. The curlers also heat up very quickly, although you can only heat one up at a time. The range of curlers this particular set comes with seems to be enough variety to create a number of looks. And yes, the curls are silky and pretty.

The booklet says that the curls can only be relaxed via a shampooing. This must be the case for someone else's hair. For me, the curls only lasted about an hour or two. I used the curlers on clean, dry hair and left them in for about 20-30 minutes after I put the last curler in. At first, the curls were as promised. After two hours, even the curliest locks had loosened into waves, but my hair still looked pretty. At the four hour mark, it was straight again.

I recommend this product to anyone looking to add some body to otherwise flat, straight hair for a limited amount of time. If you're looking to set curls that last all day, I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you have hair like mine. Although this product isn't perfect, I prefer it to curling my hair with a curling iron.

This is the 4th set I have owned and like this one the best. It seems to be more efficient and I like the ionic steam option. Concerned at first about the clicking noise it made with the ionic option but then realized that it's suppose to make that sound.
great curls - Reviewed on 2008-12-20

This is the 3rd Caruso ION Steam Hairsetter I have owned. I actually still have my original (hot steam) one that I purchased in the 1990s, still in working condition. I purchased the travel one about two years ago but that burned out within a few months. Still these hairsetters are fast, easy to use and produce full curls that last until a shampoo. They also leave your hair in great condition. No dry ends, etc. I would highly recommend purchasing one.
a disappointment for anyone who has used the old Clairol steam rollers - Reviewed on 2008-12-05

I read the reviews and bought this based on the fact that I had used the old clairol steam roller system and remember the great curl and condition of my hair. For years I have used a curling iron and it is doing it's damage unless I cut my hair quite short. I got the big system yesterday and used it this morning. Not difficult to handle, but the curl, despite long times in the hair, was totally inadequate. I had to go over each one with the curling Iron. I now have one more big item I won't use. It came with three additional boxes of rollers too. Sad, for me.

Highly recommend. Hair does not get damaged from using this product. Fast, easy set too. Not nearly as time consuming as regular curling iron.
