Fun, but I've seen better - Reviewed on 2007-04-02
When I first got this game, I was addicted to it. I only wished I could play multiplayer more often (there's no bots).
Listen, I wanna give this game a four. It's just so fun! But there are numorous things that hold this game back from glory. Here's the breakdown:
Good:
.All the weapons you would expect, as well as some suprises
.For the most part, good multiplayer maps.
.Once upon a 2004-2006, there was online for this game
.DUEL WIELDING!!!!!!!!
.Uplink, Golden Gate Bridge, and Funhouse just rock
Bad:
.some glitches (no game freezes so far though, and one glitch is really interesting...see my discussion "GoldenEye Glitches")
.Single-player gets repetitive after a while, some levels too long
.thanks to the great planners at EA (yeah right), online has been shut down for PS2 as of 11/17/06 (PS3 launch)
You may notice the lack of "bad" things. The reason I give this game a three and not a four is because there isn't anything in this game that another game doesn't do better. But this game is still really fun, and you should rent it (for GC, PS2, Xbox). Peace out :).
Goldeneye: Rogue Agent - Reviewed on 2006-08-09

Granted, this is a very fun game, but it doesn't really make sense. It is pretty innovational that you can play as a rogue 00 Agent against the MI6. This is one of those games in which you have to not pay attention to the storyline and just play the game.
A lot of things don't make sense. First of all, all of the characters in the game were killed by James Bond in the movies. Next, if you are playing as a Bond villain, then why are you trying to kill other Bond villains. You can't even call this a "Bond" video game. He is killed (?!?) in the opening cutscene of the very first mission. The Bond villains don't even mention his name at all. The story is somewhat strange. And finally, the gameplay is very linear. Unlike in other Bond 1st-Person video Games, instead of being allowed to go around and accomplish other objectives, the only thing you can do in this game is go forward along the path of enemies and just kill. That's all you really have to do in the missions, just kill, move on, and kill.
On the good side, the graphics are pretty good and the weapons are interesting. One thing EA brought back from Goldeneye for N64 is the ability to carry two weapons, and not just two of the same kind, but two different kinds.
All in all, this is an average "Bond"/"Anti-Bond" shooting game. My advice is to enjoy it and accept it for what it is.
