I bought this timer based on the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen testing lab. The timer works as advertised but the audible alarm is not very robust, you cannot hear it from another room. Control of all of the various functions is somewhat confusing, certainly non-intuitive.

Worse, the magnetic strip on the back of the timer is affixed to the plastic body with double-sided tape that will fail in very short order, allowing the magnet to separate from the body. My first timer fell off the front of my fridge onto a hard tile floor, shattering the case and destroying the timer. Amazon replaced that at no charge. A second timer did exactly the same thing after about a week's use, although this time I expected it and it only fell to the countertop.

Instead of the dual timer, I do recommend the Polder 898 Clock, Timer and Stopwatch, available in Black or White, $15.00. It is very loud, comes with a laynard so you can hang it around your neck, and is simple to use.

I bought this based on an America's Test Kitchen review. It does it's job well as a single unit. It does take a few more steps to use the second timer compared to having two separate ones. If you want it all in one package, this is a good selection.

Use it as a desk timer or use the small loop to hang it.
DO NOT TRUST the magnets to hold it to your fridge.

The timer works fine but the magnet that is supposed to hold it to the stove came unglued right away.

The problem with a lot of gadgets is figuring out how to use them - and then remembering when you don't have the instructions with you. This timer is so intuitive, I have not had that problem. I am an announcer at figure skating competitions and most people use stopwatches which are a hastle because you have to watch them. Typically, we give a one minute warning and then call time at either 6 minutes or 20 minutes. With this timer, I set one for 18 minutes and one for the full 20. That way, if i get distracted the beeper gets my attention when a stopwatch does not. And it's great that you can see both timers at the same time. I think the beeper is just the right level. I don't want the sound echoing all over the arena. It would probably be better if it had a switch to make it beep louder. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I can't get both timers to start together. Either the instructions are wrong or that feature doesn't work on the 2 units I bought. Also, the product details indicate it uses 2 AA batteries, but it only needs one and a battery comes with it. I say - if you have a need for a dual timer, buy it.
