Not much power. - Reviewed on 2008-12-29

This blender is definitely not for anything major. I didn't expect it to have such little power. It took ages to blend cooked vegetables in soup but would be OK for blending ice cream or a powdered drink. I had a Braun one that could blend raw fruit. There is no way this one would. Also you can't immerse it very far so as I said if you're looking to blend a big pot of soup, which is what I was hoping to do, you're out of luck.

I bought this to make baby food and it does a great job. So much easier than using my big blender and then having to clean up so much stuff. But yes - that button HURTS. What were they thinking? I use it only for little amounts of food and even then it hurts my finger. Thats why I give this 4 stars only

Bought this a while ago to blend up my baby's food. This is very good for small portions of food compared to those regular food processor (i've sold it since getting this blender). Cleans easily too (be sure to do so straight after use). Definitely worth every dime.

we got this immersion blender because of the price point and we wanted one for soups and baby food. we're very pleased with this blender. it works really well for baby food and is able to blend stuff to the right consistency for our 6 month old baby. our only complaint with it is that after a while your finger hurts holding the "engage" button, as noted by someone else.

other than that one complaint, great immersion blender for twice the price.
Great! Highly recommend, but... - Reviewed on 2008-07-21

Don't expect more than basic immersion blender functions! It's one of my favorite gadgets in my kitchen. I use it for pureeing for soups, scrambling larger amounts of eggs so they're light and fluffy, mixing puddings and jello, whipped cream, some less chunky smoothies. I occasionally do mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, but after butter, milk and whatever other stuff is added and in a deep bowl or can be a mess. Lots of uses!

However, don't expect it to do more hard core kitchen things and replace a blender and/or food processor. It doesn't (effectively IMO) mash up some types of big, chunky fruit especially frozen, chop nuts, certainly not ice! For that stuff you're going to need to spend more than $12.99 and get a wazoo style, more powerful and maybe with attachments.

Serious bang for your buck though! I've had mine for 2 years and have used it a lot!
